I will say this loud and proud. Yes, I am a bonafide proud cat lady. Ever since I was a little girl, cats have been a part of my life. My first fur baby was named Kitty and he was a beautiful Siamese. Today, I’m a proud cat mom to Kiki (14), Stinker (8), and Snow (1)—all rescues. I know you have a stereotypical image in your head of what cat people look and act like. But, just go ahead and scratch that from your brain right now. Cat parents come in all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds, and lifestyles. If you’re…
Sponsored by Credit Karma Honoring and celebrating my heritage and culture is not something I take for granted. For those of you who don’t know, I am third generation Mexican American. My mom’s side of the family has roots in Tucson, Arizona and my dad’s side has them here in Southern California. I spent a lot of time in both places when I was growing up and there’s one thing they both have in common—honoring Mexican culture, history, and traditions. It also helps when you have abuelitas who kept it real. Now, as an adult, I appreciate my roots more…
My good friend and super talented stylist Reah Norman is hosting the Bloomingdale’s Shop For Women Spring Fashion Show and YOU’RE INVITED! It will be an afternoon of fashion you won’t want to miss and I’m very excited to be a part it. There will be style, sips, sweets, and raffle prizes! Of course there will be a spring runway presentation that will include plus size looks and a blogger panel that includes myself, Rachel Richardson of Lovely in LA, Allison Teng of Curvy Girl Chic, Courtney Hawkins of The Simple Glamazon, Jennifer Buckingham of Model Radical, and Kristine Thompson…
I feel like every culture has their own connection to music. As a Latina, it was definitely a part of my life from the moment I was born. From family events, cooking in the kitchen, or just hanging out—music was always playing. And I’m not just talking about one kind of music. I grew up listening to mariachis at my grandmas, Classic Rock in my dad’s garage, and Pop music on my Walkman. So, when I got an invite from JCPenney to attend iHeartRadio’s Fiesta Latina in Miami VIP style, I immediately said yes! I found out later that this included getting glammed up in the JCPenney Glam Suite before the show.
It’s summer and it’s hot. Do we really need any more reasons to head to the beach? I don’t. And neither do Ivory of IvoryJinelle.com and Tiffany of LaceNLeopard.com. We love the sand, the sun, and we want to hang out. That’s why we are getting together for Heatwave: A Curvy Beach Meetup—and you’re invited!
Where are all of my beauty lovers at? I’m not talking about just loving beauty, but I mean like beauty obsessed. Like, you watch YouTube makeup tutorials and beauty hauls religiously. And you can name 5 beauty gurus right now off the top of your head. Yeah, I’m definitely talking to you. You are the perfect candidate for BeautyCon. This past weekend, I made it over to BeautyCon Los Angeles and it was definitely an experience!
It’s time for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s 2nd Annual Super Saturday sale in Los Angeles! The charity fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Santa Monica at The Barker Hanger. It’s hosted by Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman with Molly Sims and Scott Stuber. I attended last year and it is really a shopper’s delight. The New York Times has even called it “the Rolls Royce of garage sales.” and they’re giving me a pair of passes to give away to you!
COVERGIRL knows how to throw a party. Last night, they kicked off the MTV Video Music Awards with a pre-party featuring performances by Becky G and Jessie J. Yes, they are not only “Easy, Breezy, and Beautiful,” but they’re both extremely amazing performers. Total girl power! Watch the video I took of them both performing at the end of this post, which includes a cover of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” and “Bang Bang!”
Are you strict when it comes to your skin care? I know there are a lot of you out there that are. I am now…took me long enough. Well, know that proper skin care isn’t just a myth, if you care for it the right way, it shows. A few weeks ago, I was invited to the Neutrogena Skin Health Summit. Held here in Los Angeles, it was two days of skin fabulousness. Take a look below.
There are very few designers and brands out there that create fashion for all sizes. Some will design for straight, then later will create separate and different designs for plus sizes. Melissa Masse is one of those that designs for all—sizes XS to 3X. It’s very refreshing! I was recently invited to her spring preview and I fell in love with her vibrant prints and amazing fit.
When I get an invitation to get pampered, let’s just say I’m in. But, if you’re Simply Be, you want to pamper me, and you want me to preview some of your spring pieces…well then that’s just a triple bonus! You know I’m really in! Along with a few of my very good blogger friends, we gathered in L.A. to get out nails done, chat, and more.
