Shopping, shopping, and more shopping. Just one of the reasons to go to the Sassy City Chicks event. My curvy gals and I were sooooo happy to see a plus size vendor on hand, Sassi Rebel! You can’t even imagine the excitement. Yesterday was my third time attending this event and I always leave with something. Last night I snatched up a yummy clutch and a shirt. Our Sassy Totes were awesome…as always.
There are tons of accessories on hand, but we were still yearning for more plus vendors and shoes…we need shoes! I did get my spa on…believe me. I got there early enough to sign up for an amazing chair massage and hand massage. We grabbed a drink from Svedka Vodka and checked out all the vendors. 365Hangers.com was even on hand. My friend found a Marc Jacobs dress…lucky girl! I snapped a few pics below.
Sassy City Chicks is coming to a city near you…San Francisco April 7, Chicago May 5, New York Jun 15 and 16.
I love sunglasses. You all know I used to work in the accessories department at Nordstrom. I always say that’s where the love affair began.
Now, that it’s officially spring, I’m in the mood to start wearing different styles and colors. Right now the love is geared towards retro style sunglasses. Like the Kelly Wayfarer (right) from Free People. Aren’t they fun?
Do you know what’s better than stylish sunglasses? Stylish sunglasses for $18. Woohoo! All of the sunglasses below are only $18 at Free People.
You are welcome…a bargainista’s work is never done.
I love soft skin! Don’t you? That’s why I’m trying the new Dove® VisibleCare™ Crème Body Washes. They state you’ll “get visibly more beautiful skin from a body wash in just 1 week.” I can’t wait to write a review for you.
In the meantime, Dove® is inviting real women everywhere to create a video up to 60-seconds in length sharing why they are ready for their close-up experience.
The selected woman will receive a weeklong all-expense-paid trip to Los Angeles where she will get an authentic “Dancing with the Stars” experience including training with a performer from the show, confidence coaching by Jennie Garth and the ultimate opportunity: a “finale” of her own.
She will get to show off her smooth moves and beautiful skin in front of America when she dances in a Dove-sponsored TV spot in the season finale of “Dancing with the Stars.” Hurry up because the deadline is this Saturday, March 26th.
Every now-and-then life knocks us down and sometimes it’s a struggle to get back on our feet. But, when we do get back up and want to look for a job. We are all faced with the rule of any job interview…”dress professionally.” What do you do when you don’t have the means to get that professional attire? That’s where Dress for Success steps in.
Dress for Success‘ mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. And I know this amazing organization is in need of plus size suits and attire. Us curvy girls need to dress professionally too!
That’s why I was so happy to hear that One Stop Plus has officially partnered up with the Dress for Success organization. They’ve been working with them for years; donating thousands of plus-size women’s suits and shoes for disadvantaged women. OneStopPlus.com team members have even volunteered as personal shoppers at their local Dress for Success organizations, attended fundraising events, and participated in the annual Dress for Success Power Walk to raise awareness and funds.
“We are extremely proud to officially partner with Dress for Success and continue to provide clothing and resources that will help empower women to be confident and successful,” said Stephanie Sobel, President of OneStopPlus.com® Division. “As the industry leader in plus-size fashion, OneStopPlus.com® understands the importance of all women feeling strong and beautiful, no matter their size or circumstances, making our relationship with Dress for Success a natural fit.”
I really wish it wasn’t raining today. Yes, I said it. I know I said I love the rain in the past, but after a leak in the roof caused damage to my closet (the consequence of living on the top floor), I am reconsidering the love. Thank goodness nothing was damaged. My clothes, shoes, and handbags are safe and sound. We caught the leak just in time. So, now I sit here wishing I could wear an outfit like the one below. Instead, I think I’m pulling out my Uggs.
No one wants to admit they have dandruff right? In reality, it’s a lot more common than most of us might think. I’m not afraid to admit my bouts with it in the past. (Don’t know what causes dandruff? Click here.)
I know dandruff is on the way when my head starts to itch. When that happens I make sure to wash my hair with Head & Shoulders. Yes, we all know this brand. They’ve been around for years and have really evolved to be the best dandruff shampoo on the market. And that’s for good reason. Their shampoo and conditioner really work. No, I’m not a spokesperson, just a satisfied customer.
I don’t have to worry about “that smell” either. You know what I’m talking about. The smell that most generic dandruff shampoos leave you with. The new Head & Shoulders collections come in 11 different scents at an average price of $7.99. The hubby and I have been using the “Ocean Lift” formula and it has done wonders. And I’ve even noticed how soft and manageable it has left my hair. I only use it once a week now, but it has helped to maintain the health of my scalp.
Disclaimer: I was NOT financially compensated for this post, although the items were gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.
I’m kind of on a belt kick right now. They can change an outfit in an instant. Belts can be used as an accessory to an already simply chic outfit or to give you shape while embracing your curves. There are two skinny belts below, but for some reason I’m loving the wide chunky belts like the Equestrian belt from Torrid (#11).
Buying that perfect pair of shoes can be a little stressful. When do you have time to shop? Are you always working or busy? Besides, how do you know what the hottest trend will be?
If any of this sounds like you, then maybe using an online personalized shoe shopper will help. Interested? I’ve found a few companies below that might help.
Basically, you tell them what your personal style is, pay a monthly fee, and they send you shoes based on your style. Keep in mind each company is a little different and the monthly fees vary. I’ve been interested in joining, but I’m a “gotta try on every shoe” kinda girl.
Have you used any of these companies below? Would you recommend them to your fellow shoe lovers?
Is it too late to change my fashion style? After seeing Bettie Page Clothing on the runway in Las Vegas, I want to dress up like a pin-up girl! The style is all about embracing your curves, not hiding them. Don’t you just love that?
No need worry about not being able to find these retro designs in plus sizes. I found a few below, along with two designers on Etsy who create custom pieces.
One of your favorite plus size fashion retailers is now online in Spanish! Torrid.com will now be available as Es.Torrid.com as well. I think it’s a great idea and way overdue. I hope they continue with other languages in the future.
I’m back after honoring the ‘For Japan with Love’ Blogger’s Day of Silence. On my day off I had a chance to go to the Fashion District in Downtown Los Angeles with my girl Ivory. FYI, she’s a fabulous fashionista and an awesome shopping partner.
We were in search of plus size fashion and believe me it wasn’t easy! We headed down to Santee Alley a.k.a. “The Alley.” It’s literally a 3 blog alley way of shopping. It’s mostly clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories, and toys. But,you can pretty much find anything down there. It’s only a five minute drive from my house, I really need to go down there more often.
Let’s just say there was A LOT of walking. I did make a mini shopping haul video. You can go over to my YouTube channel and watch it. I even did a little review of my new favorite tee. The “I Love my Rolls” t-shirt by Feminine Funk.
