Nine West Launches “Shoelaborations”

One of your favorite shoe brands, Nine West, has just launched Shoelaborations, a new collaboration project that will bring the vision of international trendsetters, artists, and designers to you.

The first collection, from French designer Sophie Theallet, is already in stores for spring/summer 2011. The “Sophie Theallet for Nine West” collection tells the story of “Sophie from Paris Takes a Trip to NYC” and includes uniquely designed pieces that are Sophie’s take on summer essentials: a ballet flat, a double platform sandal, a raffia wedge, two satchels, as well as a charm necklace and bracelet.

The collection is said to be exturally rich, colorful and feminine. The pieces will express Sophie’s design aesthetic and French sensibility.

“Partnering with a well-established footwear and accessories business such as Nine West has given me the opportunity to live out my life-long dream of designing on a larger scale. I was able to take one of my favorite patterns and create a collection that captures both my design aesthetic and the spirit of the Nine West brand.” -Sophie Theallet

Avant Garde designer Giles Deacon’s collection is slated for fall 2011. The British designer will debut the “Giles Deacon for Nine West” collection and will be “cutting-edge in its incorporation of technology in a fashion-forward way.”

Visit the Sophie Theallet Shop-in-Shop at www.ninewest.com/sophietheallet for more details on the collection.

Curvy Girl Travels: The Opryland of Nashville

I’ve often found that there’s always a good reason to travel. Whether it’s for work or play, the idea of being able to discover new and interesting places has always made me the happiest curvy girl around.

I had the honor of being selected by Latinos in Social Media to attend BlissDom’11 a blogger conference inside The Opryland hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Being that I’d never been to Tennessee, I was excited to visit “one of the friendliest cities in the United States.” Which was proven to me the minute I stepped inside my taxi by the way. Read more

Why I love my Sejour Leggings

It’s not every day when you fall in love with an article of clothing. I will admit I’m in love with my Sejour leggings. I know you might be thinking this sounds silly, but unless you own a pair you wouldn’t understand.

Many pairs of leggings have come into my life and they’ve been OK. Sometimes they’ll fade after one wash or a new hole will appear out of no where. You know how frustrating that can be.

Sometimes, you just need a decent pair to get through a season. Thank goodness Nordstrom sent me this pair to try out. It’s like they were reading my fashion mind.

The Sejour Rayon Legging ($38) has been nothing but amazing. I’ve washed and dried them many times and they have maintained their color. The rayon material makes them so soft and I adore the slight sheen.

I’ve worn them a lot…I mean a lot and I can’t stress how comfortable they are. Just do me a favor and try them on and tell me what you think.

**Disclaimer: I was not paid for this post. Although, the item was gifted, the above is my true and honest opinion.

Beauty Review: Eucerin Smoothing Plus Essentials Lotion & Intensive Repair Plus Hand Crème

When Winter hits I know one thing is for sure, my hands will get dry and my skin will itch…it’s inevitable. I know I live in Southern California, but that doesn’t mean a thing. I load up on lotion like there’s no tomorrow. Dry is dry.

One of my pet peeves is dry cuticles, especially when the skin around the nail starts peeling! You can’t even imagine how happy I was when Eucerin sent me their Smoothing Plus Essentials Lotion and Intensive Repair Plus Hand Crème to try out.

Their Skin FIRST Movement is all about “helping protect your skin from the cold weather, and teaching you how to improve your skin’s health through total body healthcare.”

Product Info: Eucerin Plus Smoothing Essential Fast Absorbing Lotion $11.49 and Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Hand Creme $5.49 at Drugstore.com.

Product claim: Eucerin Plus Smoothing Essentials with its gentle alpha hydroxy formula helps exfoliate and smooth skin, dramatically improving the condition of your skin over time. While it doesn’t compromise on long-lasting moisturization, it feels luxurious without a greasy feeling. Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Hand Creme is a fast-absorbing moisturizer that leaves hands feeling noticeably smoother after just one use.

What I found out: After using the product for 2 months, I have noticed an overall difference in my skin and my hands. I used to have this dry patch on my elbow that is now gone and my cuticles haven’t given me any problems this winter. I am not a fan of overly scented lotions, so these two products were perfect being that they were fragrance free. And I honestly didn’t think having a product that “absorbs quickly” would make a difference, but I really like that I don’t have that greasy feeling after putting on lotion.

Would I buy it again? Definitely! Yes, especially if I had a coupon or it was on sale. Sorry Eucerin, but the bargainista in me wants it at a deal!

**Disclaimer: I was not financially compensated for this review, although the product was gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.

Spring Trends: Floral Prints

Old Navy, Forever 21, Forever 21
ShopStyle

Floral prints for spring are a no brainer. I love a flowy skirt, billowy blouse, or flirty dress with this print. I know most of the country is STILL covered in snow, but let’s just close our eyes for a second. Imagine yourself taking a walk in the park wearing one of the skirts below with a tank top and sandals.

Now that I’ve got you dreaming of spring, would you wear any of these floral prints?

Yes, you can shop at Charlotte Russe

Most curvy gals can’t shop at the affordable mall favorite Charlotte Russe. They don’t make clothes for us. In fact, every time I walk in there I always head right over to the accessories. Here are a few necklaces, handbags, and shoes that would make my spring shopping list in an instant! And everything featured in this post is $40 and under.

Would any of these pieces make your shopping list?

Bootin’ Trend

I swore to myself that I would never wear combat boots again! I spent five years wearing them as I served in the United States Air Force. And when you wear them every single day, they lose any type of fashion appeal.

But, the more I see them around, the more I want a pair. In fact, I saw this pair of Rocket Dog Rideon Vintage Worn boots at Marshalls the other day and I can’t stop thinking about them. They aren’t the most feminine pair of shoes, but maybe that’s why I like them.

I would love to pair them with leggings, skinny jeans, or black opaque tights. Maybe after all these years I’m ready to move on and grab a pair.

How would you style these boots? And do you thing this trend will carry over into the spring/early summer?
