Whenever I go shopping and I see a tank or blouse I really like, I try to buy it in a few different colors. I don’t know how that started but, it’s just something I do. Does anyone else do that? Anyways, I’ve never done that with a pair of shoes. Never. But, today I flipped through the latest Alloy catalog and I found my first pair of shoes I would consider buying in all colors available.
The Parker Wedge ($32.90)has caught my wandering eye…great…another shoe to fall in love with. There is a problem, I’ve never purchased shoes from Alloy and I am concerned of the fit. Have any of you ever purchased shoes from them? I need to know how they fit and what their quality is like before I buy them.

I know this might sound weird but, I haven’t purchased a bottle of perfume in years. I usually wear those body sprays from Bath & Body Works. I kinda had these sinus allergies and perfumes really agitated my nose. But, that was until I smelled this glorious and amazing scent from Michael Kors. I know I’m late. But, I am sooooo obsessed with this fragrance. Sometimes, I don’t want to spray it because I’m afraid of not having it anymore. Is that weird? LOL. What’s your favorite fragrance?
I have several favorite designers that I absolutely love, but for clothing it would have to be Ralph Lauren. His pieces are classic and withstand yearly trends. Also, he has “real” sizes that work for plus-size women. Most of my favorite pieces in my closet are Ralph Lauren that I have thrifted. Another favorite of mine is Marc Jacobs, though I know I won’t ever be able to wear his clothing unless I lose more than half my weight, his accessories lines are amazing. Sunglasses, handbags, shoes, etc are all amazing and I can’t get enough of them.
Being a plus-size woman makes shopping for clothes in the “high fashion” designer lines harder, so I love the in house designers for stores like Avenue, Torrid, and Target. They really cater to PS women on a budget and make both trendy and classic pieces that aren’t gawdy.
What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?
Sunglasses! No matter what the weather is they are perfect. If you are having a bad day and your eyes are puffy slip on a pair and wallah they’re gone. Sunglasses can add pop of color to a basic outfit too, you could be wearing all black and have a red pair on and it will instantly change your look. My favorite pair are my Marc by Marc Jacobs ones. I actually have 3 pairs of them that I don’t know what I would do without.
If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?
Surprisingly I don’t wear that much makeup or use that many beauty products, so this is hard to answer. However, I would love the ability to create the perfect shampoo and conditioner that would be designed specifically for my hair and my hair only. My hair is out of control and it has to do with Cuban/Irish genes. Its crazy curly, thick, but also fine and oily, which makes it hard to find a shampoo/conditioner that works right for my hair. Either it weighs my hair down and makes it more greasy, or it drys it out completely. I would name it Cubanita Works
If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?
A maxi dress, flip flops, a pair of leggings, one long knit tunic, bathing suit, and one pair of wedges. I would love to be in a maxi dress daily and dress it up my throwing on a pair of wedges if I need to go out on the town. My favorite city is one that I have never been, I would love to go to Havana. I have seen thousands of pictures from my mom and grandmother, it is such a beautiful place. If I had the opportunity I would love to go to Cuba and see the areas my family grew up in.
Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?
“Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.”- Eleanor Roosevelt. Being a bigger girl I have had to deal with criticism and jokes, but when that happens I think of this quote and I realize what others say doesn’t matter. I have learned the hard way that what I think of myself and how I see myself counts for more than how others see me. I have come a long way in my self-confidence journey, and blogging about my style has helped me feel more secure with myself.
I’ve got good news, if you didn’t already know… Simply Beis now available online in the U.S.!!
Remember these OOTD’s? I was lucky enough to review this denim halter and Anna Scholz dress from Simply Be before their online shop arrived here in the U.S. The clothes are really great quality and comfy. Not to mention very chic. They have tons of selections. So make sure you check them out! Go to www.SimplyBe.com
Have you ever dared to buy “one size fits all” clothing? I am seriously thinking about it after seeing these pieces by NewExtrave on Etsy. They not only look comfy, but they look perfect for the summer. Most items are made from linen or cotton, which is super cool in my book. Some can even be custom made. They have tons of great reviews too. Would you try a “one size fits all dress?” If you’ve ever purchased anything from NewExtrave, please let me know.
Juicy Couture…what are you doing to me? Come on!! You can not continue to create such gorgeous pieces of jewelry and not expect me to fall in love. I mean…look at these vintage style beauties. Why or why must you torture me?
It’s about to get really bright in here, thanks to the good ol’ Forever 21′s Faith 21 line.
Despite, their sometimes lack of quality, I still love the pieces they are producing. But, for the prices you pay, do you really expect them to be top of the line quality. If they were, we’d be paying A LOT more than $17.80 for a top.
Can I tell you how much I am into bright colors and prints right now. This is not my style at all, but I am trying to step out of my clothing comfort zone. You know…fashion baby steps.
I want all of these pieces right now. I can see any of the tops paired with skinny jeans, leggings, or shorts. And the dresses are so summer chic, just throw on a pair of flip flops or gladiator sandals.
Look at the gorgeous Christina Hendricks as she’s featured in the recent Los Angeles Times Magazine. We don’t get to see her glorious curves, but we do get a peek at these five retro glam beauty looks. Here’s a little peek from the interview.
As a woman, I have to say the retro underwear on Mad Men actresses looks like utter torture. Am I wrong?
No, you’re not wrong. We’re so used to it now, but those undergarments really aren’t made for relaxing. If I get my entire costume on, and I have to wait a few hours for my next scene, I have to learn how to position myself, otherwise the boning presses into my guts! It can really hurt those internal organs! I have this little war wound—a blister from wearing a garter the other day for 17 hours.
Of course all the shoes I want are $99 and over! Somehow, the hot shoes and I are always separated. We’re kind of like Romeo and Juliet. We’re destined to be together, but other circumstances keep us apart…like no money. Except, I don’t think I would die for them. So, maybe we aren’t like Romeo and Juliet after all. See how these hot shoes mess with my mind!! Read more
Ok…I look yucky and I’m not too happy with these photos, but they’ll do. I just wanted to show you the outfit I wore on Saturday, for our little gathering. This is the dress I bought at H&M. It is very roomy. It’s a large and I think it would fit anyone up to a size 22. This may be my new favorite dress for the summer and it has pockets! Yay! The great thing about this dress is the print and the colors. It can be worn so many different ways!
