LPLP by Linea Pelle at Target

One of my favorite handbag designers Linea Pelle has just debuted ‘LPLP by Linea Pelle’ at Target. Well, there goes my Target boycott (I was boycotting them because of their sad plus size department).

Available in stores and Target.com, the line “introduces a new demographic to the Southern California “casual chic” lifestyle sensibility embodied by the brand, which currently celebrates its 25th anniversary.”

Priced at $9.99-$34.99, the line includes handbags, belts, wallets and other small leather goods as well as some jewelry items.

Looks like I have to pay my local Target a visit. Hopefully, they’ve fixed their plus size department.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Goes Untouched

MAKE UP FOR EVER, a Paris-based make up brand, has just launched it’s first ever unretouched print and online ad campaign. That means the models haven’t been digitally altered. It was even certified by a notary public. According to the brand, the ad is set to highlight the brand’s HD Invisible Cover Foundation which provides a photo ready finish after every application. The campaign will appear this spring in issues of select national magazines.

What do you think? Will this type of add persuade you to buy this brand?

**Available in 26 shades to match all skin tones, MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible Cover Foundation provides oil-free, medium-to-full-coverage that creates a soft-focus effect to soften lines and blur imperfections. It retails for $40. Visit Sephora.com for additional information.

Handbag Delight: Big Buddha

JCARTER $100

Handbags and I…we go way back. The love affair started at an early age and continues to this day. Don’t even get me started about my days working at Nordstrom and my employee discount!

So, I know a beautiful bag when I see one. And when I was flipping through the new issue of Redbook, I saw a bag that caught my eye (#5 below).

When I found out it was a Big Buddha design, I wasn’t surprised. Their bags stand out to me, not just because of their design and craftsmanship, but because they are animal friendly and 100% vegan.

I love stylish with a conscious, don’t you?  I’m in handbag heaven right now.

FYI. I will take all of the bags on this page.

Meet Olga Gonzalez-Ramos

Model, editor, writer, mother, wife, actress, salsa dancer, motivational speaker, and gardening guru; meet your modern day super woman, Olga Gonzalez-Ramos.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, this only child was an avid book reader. She even started a “Dear Diary” journal at the age of eight. This started her love affair with writing.

Today she is an editor of Daily Venus Diva, the Plus Size Lifestyle Magazine, Olga writes on a variety of topics, including the “Ask Olga” column. Have a life problem? She’s here to give you advice.

With her job at Daily Venus Diva she wanted to “create a haven and space for plus-size women displaced in a world bombarded with unrealistic expectations of what women are suppose to look like.” Her self-professed mission has been “to remove blinding aspects of full figure girls who believe they are predisposed towards a unhealthy lifestyle by creating a positive outlook and agenda on being plus-size.”

Olga started her blooming modeling career a little later than most models, but that hasn’t stopped her. She’s been featured in Marie Claire, All You Magazine, Figure and BUST to name a few. And she has many projects in the works. I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes in the future.

Can curvy girls wear crop tops?

Of all the current fashion trends, this is one I do not look forward to. I don’t care if it’s on straight or a plus size girl, I’m not a fan. The dreaded crop top is making a come back. I don’t know why, but I guess belly baring is not just for teens anymore.

This Abby Cropped V-Neck from Alloy is currently sold out. What does that tell us?

I’ve have seen some fashionistas wearing crop tops with short shorts on a few of the “street style” blogs, of course they are all skinny minnies. I haven’t seen any curvy girls wearing this daring trend.

Would you care if they did? I’m a true believer in being confident no matter what you wear.

So, I want to know what you think. Can curvy girls wear crop tops? Take the anonymous poll below.

The Shopping Diaries: Why so many shoes?

You’re in the shoe department and you see a pair that screams your name. What do you do? Do you run and hide? Or do you gravitate toward them like you’re being pulled in by their imaginary forces? Does your brain start calculating if you can afford them?

This is what I deal with every time I see a pair of shoes I want. About 90% of the time I’ll end up buying them. But, the minute I come home I’m dreading my husband’s favorite shoe catchphrase…”Why do you need so many shoes?”
Grrrrr…that annoys me.

Of course I can think of a lot of reasons why I need more shoes. I tend to go with…”Babe, I don’t have a basic black pump! The ones I have are so old and uncomfortable!” I really do think I come up with the best answers, but he just shakes his head and walks away.

Doesn’t he understand the need to have pretty shoes on my feet? Why don’t some people realize that styles and trends change? A girl needs options. And if they are on sale and they’re cute, that’s a double bonus! I can’t pass them up.

Hopefully one day he’ll understand why I love shoes. Until then, let the shoe shopping continue…
