It’s no secret that I love a good bargain, but sometimes I love the finer things in life. Like a designer shoe. OK…I always love designer shoes, but I have to be realistic sometimes and tell myself that they are NOT good for the wallet. Instead, I just look and wait until one day I’ll have a personal shoe shopping account.
Today, I’m kind of in the mood for a designer ballet flat. Don’t you just love ballet flats? They are simple, comfy, and chic. Above, you’ll find Chloe, Elizabeth and James, Kate Spade, Lanvin, and Marc Jacobs…to name a few.
I am in awe…seriously. I had to stop, right in the middle of what I was doing, to write this post.
For a lot of us, we’ve had to deal with being told that fat is ugly. And that we are not worthy of fashion, because we don’t fit the fashion industries mold. That’s total BS!
As I was flipping through Plus Model Magazine’s Swimsuit Issue, I didn’t realize I could be affected like this. I was almost brought to tears (of happiness). Finally, a magazine gets it!
This special issue brings together five very talented photographers, to shoot these beautiful curvy women.
I pray that you, teens and young women look at this and know that you are beautiful. And that you do look like the models in the magazines…Plus Model Magazine.
On a side note-I’d just like to let you all know that I am now the Shopping Editor of Plus Model Magazine. I am so very honored and humbled to be a part of this amazing team. xoxo
I picked up this yummy color in a gift bag at an event. OPI’s Charged Up Cherry is definitely an eye-catcher. The color is a mix of neon pink with a hint of coral. Love this color! It’s fun and it’s perfect for summer. Plus it’s OPI, so you know it’s a long lasting nail lacquer. Would you wear Charged Up Cherry?
Disclosure: This item was gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.
The Queen Grace Collection was one of my favorite lines that came down the Full Figured Fashion Week runway. The pieces are elegant and clean. Here’s the Fall 2011 Look Book. The “Grace” dress is my favorite! Which one do you love?
I guess this HOT weekend was one with a lot of firsts. For example, I haven’t worn a floral romper since I was kid. I was really surprised when Torrid sent me their Floral Ruffle Tube Romper ($48.50). I don’t even think I would of purchased this for myself.
Doesn’t it kind of look like a dress? I was happy there were no malfunctions while wearing it. And you have no idea how happy I was knowing that there were pockets. It was roomy and pretty comfy, but after wearing it all day the elastic in the tube top kind of starting irritating me. There is also an elastic waist, which gives it shape. I threw on this skinny braided belt, my You by crocs wedges, gold hoop earrings and bangle bracelets, and my Forever 21 sunglasses. It was sooooo hot on this day and this jumper kept me nice and cool!
Disclosure: The clothing and shoes were gifted in this post. This is no way affected my post. The above is true and my honest opinion.
I didn’t know if I should even write about this. I’m unsure about even mentioning his name, because I don’t want to give him any more publicity. But, I just wanted to give you ladies another and perfect example of size discrimination in the fashion industry (like you needed more). Read more
We all know that denim comes in a lot of different washes. When I was a teen (showing my age LOL) acid wash was really popular.
A few weeks ago, I went into a Forever 21 and saw a few pairs of acid wash jeans. You probably saw them. They were turquoise and pink. I can’t remember the other colors. Ever since that moment, I couldn’t stop thinking about them. But, I knew I couldn’t really pull off those colors.
Then I walked into Forever 21 on Saturday and saw these Mineral Wash Skinny Jeans ($24.80) below. I knew I had to have a pair. I didn’t know what color I wanted, but I was only going to allow myself one pair. I have been on one major shopping spree lately. After trying them on, I chose the charcoal color.
I’m 5’6 and these are a little long on me. Also, I will say the waist is pretty generous. They are stretchy and I almost went a size smaller, but they were too tight for my liking. You should definitely try them on. I haven’t worn them yet, but when I do, you will definitely see them here. What do you think?
Don’t mind the glare in my eyes, I was running out the door to an event. I did make sure to snap a photo of some pieces Torrid had sent me. Yes, I did get the package that day. Thank goodness, because I didn’t know what I was going to wear. And since this was a casual L.A. happy hour, I thought this would be perfect.
I’m wearing Torrid’s Feather Print Tube Top and Source of Wisdom Black Luxe Skinny Jean. The top is really light and has a little cinching under the bust, which I liked because it gave me some shape. I think the best thing was the fact that it didn’t fall down every second like some tube tops do. Now, the skinny jean is really soft and you know I love a stretchy jean. They aren’t heavy and thick like normal denim, which I appreciated, because it was pretty warm.
I kept the accessories simple with Bongo earrings from Kmart, bracelets bought at a yard sale, and a ring I got in Downtown L.A. for $1! My shoes are by Jefferey Campbell (Nordstrom Rack), I love the back of the heel. For some reason it makes me feel fierce!
Disclosure: I was gifted the clothing from Torrid and earrings from Kmart. This by no way affects my review. The above is my true and honest opinion.
First of all…I love the name “Skinny Minority!” And if you were wondering, it’s a full service personal styling and image-consulting company based in Philidelphia founded by Karima Renee.
Karima founded Skinny Minority with one thing in mind-find “real recognition within the fashion industry for curvy women.”
KRA is their first clothing collective. The A/W 2011 line is comprised of 12 pieces-9 dresses and 3 jackets. The ready-to-wear line will be available in sizes 8-18/20.
“KRA focuses on cut, design, fabric & quality. For us there is nothing else. The designs take shape from both the 1940’s and 50’s era. Our pieces are for women and young adults who enjoy being a woman.”
Loving the party dress look! But, can they make more pieces please! I need the black lace dress!
