In three days, plus size UK retailer Evans will release their Beth Ditto collection. The A/W collection promises to include “unique twists on classic pieces whilst ensuring the cut, shape and fit work for the fuller figure.” Some of the designs include inspiration from the 60′s, 70′s, and 80′s. The Gossip’s lead singer even designed accessories like a vintage mesh ankle strap shoe and cameo belt. This sounds interesting.
“Working with Evans the first time round was a dream come true and this time the experience was even better than before. Getting a feel for what people liked and didn’t like and working with the same wonderful team, I learned some new tricks and discovered a confidence in my instincts that carried over into this collection. There are some special, versatile pieces that I believe in and feel will change the way we look at our wardrobes and include staples to build your own strong look from standout items to wow and even some updated favourites from the last line. I know you will look as beautiful in these clothes as you do out of them. I am grateful to have the chance to design for you again.”- Beth Ditto

Fashion has hit a recent trend lately; designers are making their designs available to the fashion-lusting public. Not everyone can afford a $1000 pair of shoes. Instead, it’s time to get fashion at more reasonable prices. Payless ShoeSource is here to make sure of that.
Inspired by African, Indian and Chinese influences mixed with measures of elegant opulence, the Christian Siriano Spring 2011 hit the runway last week at New York Fashion Week.
Four styles, inspired by his spring line, represent international cities in four different regions: Shanghi with its heavy Chinese influence; Mumbai inspired by Buddhist temple architecture; Nairobi heavily influenced by the neckpieces worn by the women of the Padaung tribe of Southeast Asia; and Zanzi, a bootie that features strong African influences.
Christian Siriano’s 2011 collection will not only include shoes, but handbags as well and will hit stores in February. All under $60! The Lela Rose collection will also debut for Payless in the spring of 2011.
The Lela Rose collection is also inspired by an international location…Lima, Peru. According to Payless, her inspiration is a “strong mix of old-meets-new cultures and architectures at various stages of development in the city.” This collection includes five key styles where old-meets-new and Peruvian textile inspirations. These designs are names after streets of Lima: “Loreto with its striated wedge heel inspired by the city’s hillside landscape; Magdalena accented with a rich brown raffia-wrapped textile wedge sole; Olaya, a T-strap with a wedge sole wrapped in an iconic Peruvian navy-clay colored woven textile; Canevaro a T-strap dress heel; and Olivos, the all-satin cocktail shoe.”
“Each season we eagerly await the latest creations from our designer partners,” said LuAnn Via, CEO of Payless ShoeSource. “For the Spring ’11 season, Christian Siriano and Lela Rose have yet again delivered head-turning footwear and handbag styles that beautifully express their unique design points of view. From Christian’s flair for edgy and powerful looks to Lela’s ‘classic with a twist’ aesthetic, we are proud to debut distinctive, high-fashion styles at prices that everyone can enjoy. The accessibility of these runway looks is at the heart of our commitment to democratizing fashion.”
If there is ever a trend I can relate to the most, it’s definitely military fashion. Yes, my curvy friends, I did serve in the U.S. military. To this day, you will not find me wearing anything camouflage or combat boots. I wore them for five years and that’s enough for me. But, everything else in this trend is OK. If anything I love the symmetry of the buttons. Chic without overpowering your outfit. Can someone please buy me the ASOS Curve Military Knitted Cape? Please?
Will the military trend make it to your closet this fall?
When it comes to re-working pieces into different outfits, there’s no better way to do that than with simple accessories. For example. You’ve seen this top from Torrid here and my favorite Old Navy skinny jeans a ton of times. Since my wallet has been on lock down lately, I haven’t been able to go shopping. So, I do what everyone does…rework pieces I’ve already worn. Today, I went to a womens luncheon with my cousin and I just wanted to be comfy. All I did to change things up was add earrings from Target, a Mudd Eternity Scarf (Kohls $9.99 on sale), and plum pumps by Candie’s ($5.00 on clearance).
Win $1000? Yes, please! In honor of their upcoming fashion show on September 15th, during New York’s Fashion week, One Stop Plus wants to give you a new fall wardrobe! Jason Wu and Ports 1961 stole my heart on day 2 of New York’s Fashion Week. I am in love with these Spring 2011 collections. I didn’t want to bombard you with photos, so I only choose a few. The day was filled with feminine touches, flowing fabric, and abstract prints and cuts. Not bad day 2, let’s see what day 3 brings. Oh, btw…I can totally see most of these pieces on this curvy silhouette!
Are you a shoe lover who’s not loving the heel height of your favorite pair of shoes? (Raises Hand) If so, you’re definitely going to love this latest shoe trend, the classic kitten heel. It’s time to bring it down a notch.
The kitten heel was introduced in the 1950′s with a heel height of no more than 2 inches. Some, brands like these Anne Taylor pumps below are 2 1/2 inches high. I remember when I wouldn’t wear anything higher than 2 inches! I’ve dared to go to 3 inches, my feet miss the kitten heels. Looks like it’s time to go shoe shopping!
Day 1 of New York Fashion week has come and gone. I saw a lot of mixing of prints, clean lines, military inspired looks, romantic pieces and bare midriffs? Really? Bare midriffs? Oh well. Here are a “few” of the Spring 2011 pieces I liked. I’m not a professionally paid fashion critic but, I really had to look hard for these! Hopefully, day 2 will be more inspiring.
Look at the lovely curvy ladies who made the cut and won the 2010 Torrid House of Dream model search. They were voted on by you! Aren’t they beautiful! Congrats! They’ve all won a trip to L.A. and they get to strut their stuff on the catwalk at an exclusive Torrid VIP fashion event.

The overcast weather here in L.A. really has me thinking about fall more than ever. So, I couldn’t help but post this trend. The chunky knit is not only a trend for fall/winter of 2010 but, it is always a trend every year. Who doesn’t like to look fabulous while keeping warm? For me it’s a given! I love cable knit sweaters!! I actually have two in my closet from last season, I can’t wait to wear. I am also on the hunt for a chunky knit beret. Will fall just hurry up and get here already!
Bohemian Bisoux Vintage on Etsy has some amazing vintage pieces. Of course there is a plus size selection, which all the pieces above are from. I’m dying for it all! Click on the pic for detailed info.
Do you wear faux/fake fur? Faux fur is made from synthetic materials and not our furry friends. I’ve never worn the real stuff and I think I have one puffy vest with a faux fur trimmed hood. But that’s it. Even Chanel has gotten in on the faux fur trend for fall/winter. I’ve kind of had my eye on boots with the faux fur trim, but that’s still debatable because it doesn’t get that cold in L.A. What do you think?
