Plus Size Shopping iPhone/iPad Apps

It’s no secret that the iPhone and the iPad have revolutionized our  little world. Getting information on the go and in the palm of your hand is more convenient than ever.

I do own an iPad and I will admit I’m kinda obsessed with the apps (a.k.a. applications). You know the saying…”There’s an app for that!” Well is there?

Not exactly. We all know I’m a shopaholic and I’d love to do some shopping from my iPad. Sadly, there are only a few options for the “curvy” lady.

I found a few free iPhone and iPad shopping apps that offer plus sizes.

Of course there are tons of fashion apps out there like Style.com, but only two of the shopping apps are by plus size retailers. It doesn’t make sense to me. I really hope to see more in the future.  So, listen up plus size retailers…get your iPhone or iPad apps going. You’d make this curvy girl very happy!

What’s your favorite shopping app?

Sealed with a Kiss Designs Spring/Summer 2011

Sealed with a Kiss Designs, the creator of the most figure enhancing dress I own, is sharing their spring and summer 2011 look book!!

I’m not going to lie, I am soooo looking forward to the collections below. You can tell they’ve worked hard on bringing us fashion we love all under $100. Their pieces are not only flattering, but they are very versatile.

Spring and summer will bring us The Basics Collection, The Aquarius Collection, The Garden Party Collection, and finally The Santorini Collection. Wait until you see their pieces.

Here’s a description of the collections from Sealed with a Kiss Designs themselves:

The Basics Collection will be released in early March. Full of comfortable and flattering wardrobe staples, Basics will contain items that are wearable and closet-friendly. The collection will include tunics, boyfriend tee’s, day dresses, skirts and a selection of tops and leggings.

Next will come Aquarius! The Aquarius Collection is part boho-chick, part rocker and a whole lot of 70’s style. Maxi dresses, tunics, flowy tops and day dresses make this collection up. The Aquarius Collection color palette will explore earth-based and muted tones such as mushroom, faded aqua, dusty rose, sepia and silver grey.

Mid-spring will bring the release of our Garden Party Collection! Featuring colors as vivid as bright, garden flowers, Garden Party features ultra-feminine and wearable styles. This collection offers a brightly-hued party dress, one shoulder tunic, dress and skirt in a playful eyelet and a myriad of versatile tops. Bright purple, green, pink, cantaloupe and white are the featured colors.

Our final collection of the season is the Santorini Collection. Inspired by the Grecian island of the same name, the Santorini Collection utilizes clothes that drape to highlight the feminine form. Gracefully draped tunics and dresses are sure to flatter a woman’s curves. The color palette features vibrant cobalt blue, a vivid sea-blue color, poppy red and sand.

In addition to the above collections we will, of course, be adding new colors to our best-selling Veronica Maxi Dress and shorter Victoria Dress.

Which Sealed with a Kiss Designs collection are you looking forward too?

Beauty Buzz: COVERGIRL Oscar Looks & Giveaway

Hilary Swank looked stunning at Sunday night’s Academy Awards, while Sofia Vergara rocked the Vanity Fair after-party.

The Oscars are always about what designer a celebrity is wearing. This year COVERGIRL wants it to be all about what make-up the hottest stars are wearing.

Wouldn’t you like to know how celebrity make-up artists got these ladies their glam looks? You even have a chance to win 2 COVERGIRL products below!

Hilary Swank @ OSCAR’s Red Carpet by Make-Up Artist Monika Blunder

“I wanted to really play up Hilary’s eyes and I used her gorgeous Gucci Premiere couture dress with beautiful shades of grey and satin as my color inspiration,” shared makeup artist Monika Blunder.

To create the soft but colorful eye look, I blended silvery colors across the eye and then opened up the eyes by using COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast in Silver Spark close to the top and bottom lash line. I used the darker colors on the outside of the eye lid and then the lighter, silver colors in the inside, using COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke to bring out the silver shades of her dress. I then curled the lashes (ten second hold on each eye) and added stunning volume with COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume in Very Black.

To complement Hilary’s eyes, I created a matte, flawless face and peachy cheeks for an overall soft look. I used a feathered blush brush to apply COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach in a circular motion to the apples of the cheeks. This creates a very soft, luminous look. To achieve a luxurious skin look at home, try COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation.

For the lips, I went with a very natural look, using COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Sandstone to add a pretty flush of luxurious color.

Sofia Vergara @ Vanity Fair/Elton John’s OSCAR After-Party by Make-Up Artist Beau Nelson

I wanted to create an old-Hollywood glamour look inspired by Sophia Loren and Sofia’s gorgeous black dress. For her eyes I applied a beige shadow on the lid and brown shadow in the crease then lined the top with COVERGIRL Line Exact in Black for added drama. On the bottom I lined her eyes with COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Brown Blaze and finished the eyes with multiple coats of LashBlast Mascara in Black.

We wanted to keep Sofia’s skin fresh and dewy so I applied COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg for a flawless finish and added COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach to give her a natural glow.

I finished her look with a pink/beige lip using COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in Rush.

One beauty loving reader will win 2 COVERGIRL products of their choice, one from each OSCAR look!

Rings Take Shape

I am now just realizing that I need more rings in my life. After wearing the big sparkly one I bought at Aldo Accessories I know I need more! Call it a budding obsession with statement rings.

But, everyone should have at least one statement ring. If you don’t, then you have no idea what your outfit is missing.

In fact, while doing a little bit of ring browsing online, I came across a few rings that caught my eye. Rings that need to be on my fingers soon!

They were in various simple, yet bulky stunning shapes and angles. Most are from ASOS and Topshop and are designed to stand out. I love the minimalist designs.

The Abstract Cut Out Ring from Topshop ($20) is HOT! Which one is your favorite?

What I’d Wear to the Oscar’s

If you’re like most fashionista’s, then you can’t wait for tonight’s red carpet arrivals at the award show of the season, The Academy Awards. Also known as “The Oscar’s,” this is the king of all red carpets.

The only celeb I’m looking forward to is Christina Hendricks. I love how she rocks her curves! But, besides that, I always look forward to what the trend will be on the red carpet.

If I was going, I’d die to represent in this Alexander McQueen Kimono Gown, but with the $8,655 price tag, it seems very unrealistic. That and it doesn’t come in my size. So, I stick with what I know. Gowns that are available in a wide variety of sizes.

I will admit, I’ve never worn or tried anything from eDressMe, but I am curious. All the gowns below are available up to a size 24 and they do have a plus size selection.

If anyone has ever used them, I’d love to hear alllllll about it. I’d def consider any of the gowns below, why not add some color or sparkle?

What do you think? What would you rock for your Oscar look?

Black, White & Leopard All Over

I’m all about being inspired today. In fact, the immediate second I saw these delicious Leo Platform heels from Alloy ($46.99), I knew I had to write this post.

Leopard is always in style, but I say we venture out of our fashion comfort boxes and go a different route with black and white leopard print.

Now, if you’re already in possession of black and white leopard print, yay! for you. But, I’m not and I think these would jump start my collection.

Ok, I don’t know about a collection, but grabbing a few pieces here and there can really add some “oomph” to any blah outfit.

If these shoes don’t do it for you, I found a few accessories, tops, and shoes that might peak your interest.

What do you think? Are you feeling this black and white leopard print? What pieces do you already own?

My Feet Hurt!

I have feet issues. When I say feet issues…what I really mean is…I have feet in high heel issues. Finding a comfortable heel that is also on trend is still really hard to do. That’s why I get stuck with feet that hurt.

While I was in Las Vegas last weekend, I did a lot of walking. So much, that when it was time for evening events I was dreading putting on my shoes for the night. Who’s with me?

I can’t be the only shoe lover out there that suffers for the sake of beautiful shoes!

Every single night in Las Vegas, all I could think about was the pair of Dr.Scholls For Her “Fast Flats” sitting at home. This are great for the end of the night, when you just can’t do a pair of heels anymore. Why didn’t I bring them?  I’ve used them a couple of times, when I remember to grab them. They came in especially handy when I was in Miami as we walked from the club, back to the hotel.

As you can see, the “Fast Flats” come in a cute compact gold wristlet. They do fold and half and there is a rubber sole. You would have to carry a bigger bag when you go out, this wristlet will not fit in a small clutch. They come in small, medium, and large. I have a pair of the mediums which is a size 7-8. I wear a size 9 1/2, so it’s a snug fit, but it’s serves its purpose. They average $8-$15, but there is a $2 coupon on their web site. Click here

Have you ever used Dr. Scholls For Her “Fast Flats?” Are you even interested in trying them?

*Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for the post. Although the item was gifted, the above is my true and honest opinion.

What I Wore: Lane Bryant Runway Finale

Thanks to Madison Plus for using this photo of me in their “The Curvy Revolution Fan Looks” post on their blog The Dish. When I saw it, I realized I didn’t have a clear pic of my outfit from the runway finale night.

You can’t tell, but I struggled with my hair that night, so I just bunched it up as a side bun. Wasn’t sure if I liked it, but the style is growing on me. My earrings and ring are from Aldo Accessories (buy one get one 50% off).

The dress w/embellished belt is from Forever 21+, of course it’s not on the web site. The length was perfect and it was very comfortable. I just had an issue with the opening in the back, which was a little too low, my bra strap was showing and the belt kept moving around like crazy. The shoes are my oldies but goodies Jessica Simpson patent leather platform pumps. They’re my “go-to” shoe.Once again, thanks to Madison Plus for the pic!
