Want…Want…Want…

Why do these brands have to design and create such amazing pieces?

It’s like they are made for me and only me. Yes, that’s how I think when it comes to stuff I want. I know I shouldn’t “want” something so bad, but look at it!

I am drooling over the City Chic Urban Jungle Jean and Juicy Couture Cluster Cuff below. And you know I need that ‘Fashionista’ in a Frame necklace from ASOS. Gorgeous, right? Go ahead, you can lust after them too. It’s only right that you do.

Fall Trends 2010: Buckles

I know you’re probably still melting from this summer heat, but I am already thinking about fall trends! I can’t help it. It’s definitely one of my favorite seasons. And you know I’m a shoe lover, so it’s only fitting that the first fall trend will be shoes! Shoes with buckles that is. I’ve already got my eye on a few pairs below. I’m in love with the Juicy Couture ‘Dale’ wedge booties in the gray suede. My heart just skipped a beat.

By clicking on any of the yummy images below, you agree to start thinking about fall.

Which pair is your favorite?

Fruit of the Loom’s “Fit for Me” Collection

As I was flipping through one of my magazines, I came across the ad below from Fruit of the Loom’s “Fit for Me” collection. First of all, I am loving these curvaliscious models! Aren’t they beautiful? Secondly, YAY! for cotton undies made for curvy gals! I know I might sound a tad excited, but I love a simple and comfy cotton undie. I haven’t tried these, but I promise you I will. And when I do, I will write a full review for you!

According to their web site they are available in sizes 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Which is equivalent to dress sizes 16W, 18W, 20W, 22W, 24W, and 26W. And they come in different colors and patterns.

Has any one out there tried these yet? Dying to know.

An Aussie in London
Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?

When I look at clothes, I pay most of my attention to plus-size wear and as far as high-end designers are concerned, I like Elena Miro for the curvy-girl wear and also – the amazing Anna Scholz. Both designers clearly understand the nature of curves. My favourite places to shop are the Australian store, City Chic and Dutch store, Carmakoma.

Non-curvy – just designer-wise, I love Wheels and Dollbaby for the flirtatious design and style. I also always like to see the catwalk collections for YSL, Tom Ford, Vivienne Westwood and Alannah Hill. For men – I love Hugo Boss Suits.
What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?

My Wittner Slouch Boots in style “Sin City”. I love them. Wittner is an Australian brand and they have the prettiest shoes. I also have an abundance of handbags, but go through serious phases where I will just use one for ages – before I switch to another that I will use for ages… and so on!
If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?

I would try to make some sort of combined mousturiser and primer that nourishes the skin but also makes it radiant and make-up ready. It would contain a good SPF factor too (I am obsessed with moisturiser)… I don’t know what I might call it, perhaps – some sort of play on the word Luminous.
If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?

I think we’re headed to New York baby! The clothes would include: my fashion uniform – which comprises my City Chic denim skirt, black leggings, black singlet top and then a range of boleros/shrugs and cardigans to style with accessories. I’d then also have to bring a couple of print dresses, my Carmakoma Madonna skirt, slouch boots, kitten heels and then my favourite dress… currently (and always subject to change) a black and white number bought in Australia.

Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?

There are a couple that I coined and love:

“Take your time, explore your style, embrace your curves” is what I would advise…

“I have great curves and I know how to wear them…” is what I live by!

OOTD: Black and White Weekend

I never thought I had a “style” until I started blogging about my outfits. I figured out I have a very simple style. I don’t do outrageous or bold. I kinda wish I did, but that’s just not me. I commend those who do have the fashionable guts to go out on a limb when it comes to fashion. Bravo! But, for me…I guess I’m just a laid back California girl and there’s nothing wrong with that. This past weekend is the perfect example of that. Very black and white. Just the way I like it.

Dolce Vita for Target

Yes, you read that right. Dolce Vita has designed a line of shoes for one of my favorite stores, Target! So, frickin excited!

First of all, I would just like to ask…How did I not know about this? Oh that’s right, my laptop died when I was in N.Y.C., when all of this was happening!

These faux leather delights retail for $29.99-$34.99 and the flats also come in gold and grey. The oxfords are available without studs in black, but are available in grey with the studs. Many options! (you can click on the pic for info)

The ankle boots are mine! I called them! Has anyone gotten their hands on a pair yet? How is the fit and quality?

Update: I just ordered the ankle boots, apparently they aren’t in store yet. But, you can order them online. It says they should arrive in 2-4 weeks. Yay!

Color Inspired: Purple

I’ve been in such a “purple” kind of mood lately. It’s not a color I normally wear, but I’m starting to step out of my color “comfort zone.” I’ve always been afraid to look like Barney or something. What was I thinking? I would have to dress head-to-toe in this color to look like this pre-schooler’s idol. But, now I know I can add a splash of color without getting out of control.

What color(s) have you been hesitant about wearing? Do you wear them now?

Last Minute Summer Wish List

I know summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep looking for that chic summer dress! These dresses are from Saks Fifth Avenue’s Salon Z department…so they are probably going to remain on my wish list due to budget restraints. That’s OK…a curvy girl can still look, can’t she?

Take Eucerin’s “Skin First Pledge”

I am always on the hunt for that perfect hand cream. You know the one that doesn’t feel greasy, but can still moisturize. Yes, I’m one of those skin health people. You should be one too! When was the last time you took a second out of the day to handle your skin care business? It’s so

important! That’s it…you need to take a pledge…now! Eucerin is here to help and you get a free sample (I love free!) of their Daily Skin Balance while you’re at it (for a limited time). All you have to do is take their “Skin First Pledge” on Facebook I took mine at BlogHer.

Eucerin is on it! Read what they have to say:

Did you know that our skin is our first line of defense against infections, germs and pollutants? Or that more than half of our lifetime UV exposure occurs before we’re 20? By taking the Skin FIRST Pledge, you’re not only receiving free product – you’re also raising awareness around the importance of good skin care. As a bonus, for every pledge made, Eucerin will make a donation to Healthy Women, the nation’s leading independent health information source for women. -Eucerin.com

Bank Breaker V$. Bargain: Snakeskin Pump

Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly need another pair of shoes…I start craving a pair of snakeskin pumps. Man, I have shoe issues. I have my eye on these Dolce Vita Adra Peep-Toes, but unfortunately they cost $231.95. That’s beyond my budget at this point. Let’s see what the bargain pump can do for me.

The ‘bargain’ pump is the Madeline Gabean Peep-Toe for $32.97. Not bad, not bad.

So, is it going to be the ‘Bank Breaker’ or the ‘Bargain’ pump?

New York City: Part II

Guess what lucky duckies? I found a few more pics from New York City. Ok, they aren’t the best quality, but it’s all I have. And I really want to encourage you all to head out to San Diego for next year’s BlogHer conference.

The first pic is an outfit I wore to do some running around in. I found this great dress at Target, but it was a little too short for me, so I threw on some leggings. It was so hot and humid this day, but the dress kept me cool and the AC in the taxi helped a lot! It’s an easy piece to dress up too. I couldn’t find it on the Target site, sorry.

I made my way downtown to get a peek at some of the pieces from the Toula Fall collection. This is a luxury knit line being carried at Saks Fifth Avenue and Dillards, in women’s sizes. Now, this line is for the sophisticated business woman, but there were pieces that gave off a vintage vibe. I could easily pair them with jeans and a tank. They are pricey pieces, but are very versatile and can be worn from season to season. Made for the uptown curvy woman!

The publicity firm was right next door to an Urban Outfitters. I felt so sorry for the people that worked there. The AC was only working on the 3rd floor, this left those on the other floors baking! I picked up a pair of sunglasses ($10) and hopped on the subway to Midtown. First time by myself! So proud!

The next day I made my way to expo. Below are pics of my favorite highlights. The ECCO suite had their fall line ready and waiting for me (wink wink). Those suede pumps and ankle boots are mine! Timex had me with their fluorescent watches and Ebay/Bill Me Later had me drooling over a vintage lion cuff and that Rebecca Minkoff clutch. I even had a talk with White House Black Market about them carrying extended sizes. But, for now, they only carry their wedding dresses up to a size 16. Too bad.

There are more pics in the previous post, in case you didn’t see them.

Have I convinced you yet to attend next year’s BlogHer conference in San Diego, CA?

Blogger Q&A: Amanda Allison

Amanda Allison
California

Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?

Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. He captures everything great about the Parisian woman – glamour, power, and playfulness. And, the bags? Don’t even get me started on the bags.

What is one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?

My LV handbags are a must-have. Please don’t make me choose just one of them.

If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?

“Fully Functioning Concealer” would be the best concealer known to woman, perfect for camouflaging dark undereye circles and treating acne and blemishes.

If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?

Paris is my favorite city so packing all the right pieces in such little time would be crucial. I would pack v-neck tees in a rainbow of colors, two cardigans, dark wash jeggings, dark grey trousers, opaque black leggings, a high-waisted white and black dress, a few statement necklaces and bracelets, pale pink nail polish, flats, pumps,my makeup kit, and a few of my favorite headbands!

Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?

“I’m a brand, baby, and every day I’m my own best advertisement.” – Kimora Lee Simmons

Handbag Delight: Rebecca Minkoff

As I walked across the BlogHer Expo, I came to an Ebay/Bill Me Later booth. That is where I saw almost every woman walk by and pick up this black leather clutch. I walked over and saw this gorgeous black Rebecca Minkoff delight. This one lady even told me it was hers, yet it wasn’t for sale. She had that look in her eye too! Now, that’s love.

You know what handbag love is right? Kind of like I LOVE these stunning Rebecca Minkoff bags and I’d eat air for a month so I can buy one. Yeah…kind of like that.

Lane Bryant Review – Plus Win & Save!

New York, New York…you stole my heart. I love this city and lucky for me the 2010 BlogHer conference was held here. I had so much fun making new friends, networking, and learning from the best in the blogging world. Plus there was so much swag! Amazing!

But, it wasn’t the perfect trip…let me briefly explain. My flight out of LAX was delayed and made me miss my connection. I was rebooked which delayed my arrival by 6 hours! I checked into the hotel and that night my laptop crashed. My cell phone battery was dying after only 30 minutes of being fully charged and the camera I borrowed didn’t work. I was having a tech nightmare. So, the photos you see are via my cell phone (after a new battery) and a small Kodak hand held camcorder. I apologize for the quality.

I promised to not let any of my technical difficulties ruin my time in New York. Besides, I had some fabulous clothes courtesy of Lane Bryant to wear. I picked them up during the L.A. Fatshion Bloggers event, and I couldn’t be happier with these pieces.

I started the first day of the conference in their leopard print maxi dress, which I got for an amazing price by the way! This dress was so comfortable and I got tons of compliments on it! Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s available on the site anymore. But, you can check their in-store sale section.

Did I mention it was really hot and muggy while I was there? I really didn’t have to worry about that, because I was nice and cool in this dress. I paired my Nine West gladiator sandals with it and a necklace from Forever 21. I wish I would have gone up one size in the dress, but this was the only one they had. I had to pull the dress up a couple of times. I also got my hands on a Cacique Seamless 5-way Convertible Bra. I love this bra! The support was great, especially when I wore it strapless. I didn’t feel like I was going to fall out or that it was going to fall down.

On Saturday, I wore their Sequin Lapel Sweater Vest, their Knit Denim Jeggings, and a white tank. I also got a lot of compliments on the vest. It was surprisingly nice to wear the vest in the 80 degree weather and I loved the length. The only issue I had was the sequins around the neck area would get caught on my hair. And can I just say that these jeggings are AWESOME! This was my first pair and I want to go back and get more! Loved the fit and stretch of the denim. I went down one size from what I normally wear and I was loving them! The length was perfect for me (I’m 5’6). Thanks Lane Bryant for outfitting me during BlogHer 2010!

Now here’s your chance to win and save with Lane Bryant! Get your hands on this amazing gift cheque! You can get a whopping $25 off a $75 purchase, it’s only valid until August 24th. Go here to print it out!!

You can also enter to win a $20 gift card from Lane Bryant. All you have to do is go to my Facebook page and “Like” Curves and Chaos. Leave a comment under the post on the wall with the the following questions:

**BlogHer Recap: You already know I had an amazing time! Not only did I meet amazing women, but I had to the chance to get my makeup done at the P&G Home, I got tons of swag, and I met model Veronica Webb (very nice) and Bruce Jenner. I even took the time to talk to HauteLook, Shop Style, and White House Black Market about carrying extended sizes. ASSETS by Sara Blakely were on hand and we had a great conversation. Hopefully, I made great connections! Here’s a slideshow of some pics:
