KleanSpa Blending Bash

A few weeks ago, I wrote a Beauty Buzz feature and hosted a giveaway for KleanSpa.  Here’s the original post. In case you were wondering KleanSpa products can be found in salons and stores throughout the nation. If you love creating your own scents and live in the Los Angeles area, then I would recommend attending their monthly Blending Bash. At the Bash, you will personally work with Jennifer (the owner) to create your own signature fragrance.

I attended one last month and it was so much fun! I went with Nik and Denise at the Burbank location which is inside an amazing boutique called MindfulNest. I think most of the night we spent shopping, drinking champagne, and choosing the oils for our scents. I created Chaotic Fruit, which consists of watermelon, pina colada, mango, and cucumber melon.. It smells so yummy.

Here’s a little video I took:

The Lane Bryant “Revolution”

Where do I even start? First of all, I want to thank Lane Bryant for the VIP pass to The Curvy Revolution. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have had such an amazing experience.

On the final day of the convention, I finally ran into NettaP, one of my favorite bloggers. Love that girl!
Then after getting lost, I attended a Lane Bryant panel session with the VP of Marketing, Jay Dunn. It was a very informative look into the world of Lane Bryant. Mr. Dunn made sure to remind us that it’s not about age, but about your attitude. I love that philosophy especially when it comes to fashion. He gave us a few insights on keeping LB on trend, their models, and what is in store for them in the future.

After the session, I went to dinner with my girls and then I ran back to my hotel to get ready for the runway finale. I bought this grey draped dress with an embellished belt from Forever 21+. My earrings and ring were from Aldo Accessories, and I wore my black patent leather Jessica Simpson platform pumps.

I will admit, I showed up about 30 minutes late. But, I did have a chance to catch Bettie Page Clothing Always for Me, and Madame Couture before Lane Bryant hit the stage.

As I found a seat, I pulled out my camera, only to realize I left my batteries charging in my hotel room. I was so MAD! Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone to take photos. So, until LB releases their images, your stuck with cruddy cell phone images.

I was in awe of every confident curvy woman that came down the runway. Especially  my girls Griselangel and Allison!! There was such a range of body types as well, which I loved!

Although the first half of the finale was awesome, I was really looking forward to Lane Bryant’s finale. I found a seat next to Sara of Bombshell Beauty (who is awesome btw). We all sat there anxiously waiting for it to start. Little did we know, the stunning Ashley Graham would open the show. Take a look of the really poor quality video I took with my phone (below).

From the moment Ashley Graham opened the show it only got better. There were dancing cowboys, poodles, male dancers, and of course…fashion! I really want to “high-five” whoever styled the models. There was a mix of sportswear and intimates. I was having so much fun and before I knew it, Ashley (wearing a black leather studded bra and panty) closed the show with a shower of confetti. It was my favorite fashion moment to date.

After the runway show, I finally met Aimee and Erica from Madison Plus and I snapped a photo with Ashley Graham.

Then we made our way to the after party. I had a powerful conversation with Jay Dunn about LB using models who are size 16 and up. I hope my pleading made some kind of impression. I also had a chance to meet and chat with Robert Rutkauskas, senior Lane Bryant designer. I then introduced myself to a few of the LB models, including Lizzie Miller. The night is one I will remember for a very long time!

I will say this…beyond the “behind the scenes” drama (that is not worth putting on my blog) I was really glad to have met the Lane Bryant team and the City Chic team. And the time spent with my girls is worth so much more. Thank you to all who made this an amazing weekend!

The Curvy Revolution: Day 2

Day 2 of The Curvy Revolution was all about meeting the vendors at the Expo. I know there are so many amazing products and brands out there for the curvy woman.

I even had the opportunity to get a free bra fitting by Lane Bryant. I found out I’ve been wearing the wrong bra size! What? No wonder I’ve always been uncomfortable wearing under wire bras. Now, I know my correct size and my “girls” will be a lot happier. Maybe I’ll even buy the new Sateen Convertible Plunge Bra. Go get your free fitting today!!

Here’s what I wore:

Sweater: TJ Maxx
Tunic: Abrstract Print Twist Neck Tunic (courtesy of Lane Bryant)
Leggings: Sejour (Nordstrom)
Boots: Dollhouse
Bracelets: Courtesy of Lane Bryant

I got a lot of compliments on the tunic. I love the colors and once again the soft material. Chic and comfy! I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of it. I also wore my favorite leggings by Sejour, they are amazing. Now, let me tell you about the boots. They are very nice to look at but NOT AT ALL made for comfort. I wore them all day and I did a lot of walking; today my legs are aching and my feet hurt. I definitely need some cushioning in there.

Back to the vendors…I met a lot of inspiring curvy women yesterday. I bought a vintage top from Kori at BuxomVintage.com, she has an amazing selection of vintage pieces. Amanda Bennett of BennettsBoots.com came all the way from Australia to show her amazing line of wide calf boots. FYI…they are made from the same leather Prada uses. You’ll see them on Curves and Chaos pretty soon.

I picked up a few samples of PSST (Put Shorts Straight Today). I was so in love with this product. It’s a very simple and convenient way to stop your shorts from bunching up between your legs. I love it!!

The women from Curvy Divas Rock were so cute! I bought one of their tees (below) and I can’t wait to wear it. Because duhhhh…we do rock! I honestly loved meeting each and every person yesterday, it show the passion they have for the curvy community. Very very inspiring!!

The Curvy Revolution: Day 1

I made the trek from Los Angeles to Las Vegas all by myself! Woohoo! I’m here for The Curvy Revolution and I am beyond excited! I am about to pass out from all the excitement and fun. So here’s a quick recap of what I wore.

Dress: Print Kimono Tunic (courtesy of Lane Bryant)
Nylons: Target-Merona brand
Shoes: Forever 21
Jewelry: Lane Bryant and Nordstrom

This tunic, which I made into a dress, is silky soft and comfortable. And it has pockets! I kept the jewelry minimal because of the print of the dress.

I met a lot of amazing Lane Bryant and City Chic people. Rosie Mercado was the host for the night. She rocked of course! Check out the pics below.

::::Don’t Forget:::
Join me on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. for a Twitter Party sponsored by JAFRA. Follow the hash tag #JAFRAColor to join in! There will be beauty prizes!

After the events of the night, I had a chance to catch up with my girls: models Fluvia, Griselangel, Allison, Courtney, Maddy from Plus Model Magazine, and stylist Reah. We had too much fun on our first night. I can’t wait to see what day #2 has for us.

I’ll be at The Curvy Revolution!

I’m supposed to be on the road already, but I had to post about the amazing weekend ahead of me. I’m going to attend The Curvy Revolution in Las Vegas, brought to you by Lane Bryant and City Chic!

If you’ve been hiding under a rock and don’t know what The Curvy Revolution is…

“The Curvy Revolution (TCR) is the premier, largest, and most dynamic convention for plus size women, produced by the nation’s largest plus size organization Full Figures. This convention is an interactive experience designed to celebrate, inform, and inspire plus size women.”

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Lane Bryant for sponsoring my pass and some of the clothing I’ll be wearing this weekend!  Follow me all weekend on twitter @CurvesandChaos with the hashtag #lbtcr.

If you’re going…I’ll see you there!

Kmart’s Launches LYS Collection (Love Your Style, Love Your Size)

Listen up Kmart shoppers!

Kmart has just launched the LYS plus-size collection! It’s all about “Love Your Style, Love Your Size” and I don’t know about you but I’m very excited to check it out!

Designed for the effortlessly chic woman, the line is stylish and contemporary. (And affordable!) There are splashes of color and bold prints that are trendy but not overpowering. And they used fabrics like satin and denim to mix it up. Many of the pieces can definitely translate from day to night looks.

LYS Senior Designer, and plus-size woman, Nicole Magnani sees LYS as redefining the plus-size fashion landscape, bringing her personal eye for style and ease to the clothing. She says, “Kmart will be the destination where curvy women shop for clothes they feel great in, want to be seen in, and look amazing wearing!”

Take a look at the video below. It features model Fluvia Lacerda and Maddy Figueroa-Jones of Plus Model Magazine checking out the LYS line for the first time. I love their honesty! FYI…Fluvia and Maddy are two of my favorite peeps in the whole wide world! Why? Because they understand and represent the curvy women of the world. Enough said.

Are you interested to try the Kmart LYS collection? Do you think it will meet your fashion expectations?

Christina Hendricks 1960′s Fashionista

Looks like Christina Hendricks is taking her character Joan from AMC’s Mad Men to the red carpet. Just look at her channeling the fashionable 1960′s woman. Not only is she one of our favorite curvy celebs, but it seems the paparazzi has been loving her lately too!  It’s also been reported that she is the new face of Vivienne Westwood’s fine jewelry collection. Congrats Christina! Score another point for the curvy girls!

How to Accessorize a Maxi Dress

One of my favorite silhouettes for spring would have to be the maxi dress. It’s the ultimate dress for comfort and style. And it’s so versatile.

This Lane Bryant V-neck Maxi Dress ($39.95) is a perfect example. This LBD (I’m now calling the long black dress) is like a blank canvas.

From the waist to your neck and down to your feet, there are so many ways to accessorize and make this the dress you’ll wear all spring. Not only will you be able to accessorize like a pro, but you’ll do it at reasonable prices with pieces that will carry into other seasons.

The Floral Scarf

The Leather Belt

The Chunky, Funky, or Long Necklace

The Eclectic Cuff Bracelet

The Gladiator Sandal

Now that I think about it, you probably have most of these items in your possession. How do you dress up your maxi dresses?

Vote for “The Face of FFFWeek”

It might be New York Fashion week and I do love fashion, but do you know what I love more? Full Figured Fashion Week! And it’s set to all go down again in New York on June 16-18, 2011!

I was lucky enough to be selected as a member of The Curvy Collective in Los Angeles last year for Full Figured Fashion Week(end). It was an amazing experience!

Every time I see founder Gwen DeVoe post something about FFFWeek on Facebook, I get more and more excited! As a matter of fact, they are currently searching for The (New) Face of Full-Figured Fashion Week for 2011. You might remember the stunning Rosie Mercado representing in 2010.

There are over 30 beautiful women vying for the spot! I can’t wait to see who wins!

Lizzie Miller is the New Face of OneStopPlus.com

Ever since her eye-catching nude photo in Glamour Magazine, model Lizzie Miller has been busy. Can you blame her? She’s gorgeous!

It was just announced today that she is the brand new OneStopPlus.com ambassador. That means she will be the face of this plus-size fashion brand. You’ll see Lizzie on Twitter and Facebook, as well as their web site.

“I am so honored to have been chosen as OneStopPlus.com’s ambassador, as they are a major player in the plus-size fashion world. I believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and I admire OneStopPlus.com for being willing and able to think outside the box when it comes to women’s fashion.” said Lizzie Miller. “I dream of the day when we will be able to open a magazine and see women of all sizes and colors represented. With OneStopPlus.com, that dream will become a reality and I’m so excited to be a part of it.”

Grammy Hair Styles: Long and Loose

When you think of last night’s Grammy’s you don’t think of hair. Well, I do now. My favorite looks of the night were the longer styles, either straightened or wavy. It was very rocker chic!
