To use shape wear or to not use shape wear…that is the question.
Well, it is the question among us body loving curvy gals! I’ve heard the debate and honestly I’m kind of confused by it.
I tell myself that I love my body in all of its glory, but I do own a pair of Spanx (pre-fat girl body acceptance) and I received this pair of ASSETS Unbelievable Underwear Super Control ($18) at the BlogHer Expo.
I was very curious to try them out and after having them for a couple of weeks, I wore them. Yes, I was still fat after I put them on. They didn’t magically erase any pounds and I was still a size 18.
But, it did help because I was wearing a dress and I didn’t have to worry about the dreaded chub rub. I can’t stand that darn chub rub! Don’t get me wrong, I did notice I was wearing shape wear, but it wasn’t like I was instantly a straight size.
The underwear did smooth out the bumpy areas and I loved how they stayed put. No rolling down or creeping up here. And there were no panty lines; that’s always a bonus. I will wear them again, but only for those tight dresses.
So, to answer the great shape wear debate question…I can’t. It’s up to you and your personal preference. But, I would like to know what you think, anonymously of course. Take my little poll below.
This past weekend was kind of strange. I went shopping and I didn’t buy myself a thing. Yes…you read that right. I didn’t buy myself anything. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little disappointed in myself. Maybe, it’s the heat. It’s making me delirious. Excuse me a moment. I’m going to try and figure out what’s wrong with me. Take a lookie at these Juicy Couture bags, while I sort things out.
I came across this Chanel ad, of the beautiful Crystal Renn, on the über fab Madison Plus blog. This ad, according to The Cut, is being used for a store reopening on Spring Street in New York. While many question whether Renn is still considered a plus-size model, The Cut is questioning why they decided to crop out her body. It’s a valid point, being that Jean Paul Gaultier ad’s included her entire body in his fall campaign.
What do you think?
Is this a big deal or are some making a big deal out of nothing?
Oh essie, I remember the first day we met. My best friend introduced me to you four years ago. Your delicious colors made it’s way onto my nails on the day of my wedding. My nails have never been the same. And now you come out with this rich fall collection and I love every single color? You’re too much. I guess I’ll have to wait until September 1st, to get my hands on you. Until then essie…
Why do these brands have to design and create such amazing pieces?
It’s like they are made for me and only me. Yes, that’s how I think when it comes to stuff I want. I know I shouldn’t “want” something so bad, but look at it!
I am drooling over the City Chic Urban Jungle Jean and Juicy Couture Cluster Cuff below. And you know I need that ‘Fashionista’ in a Frame necklace from ASOS. Gorgeous, right? Go ahead, you can lust after them too. It’s only right that you do.
As I was flipping through one of my magazines, I came across the ad below from Fruit of the Loom’s “Fit for Me” collection. First of all, I am loving these curvaliscious models! Aren’t they beautiful? Secondly, YAY! for cotton undies made for curvy gals! I know I might sound a tad excited, but I love a simple and comfy cotton undie. I haven’t tried these, but I promise you I will. And when I do, I will write a full review for you!
According to their web site they are available in sizes 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Which is equivalent to dress sizes 16W, 18W, 20W, 22W, 24W, and 26W. And they come in different colors and patterns.
Has any one out there tried these yet? Dying to know.

Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
“Take your time, explore your style, embrace your curves” is what I would advise…
“I have great curves and I know how to wear them…” is what I live by!
I never thought I had a “style” until I started blogging about my outfits. I figured out I have a very simple style. I don’t do outrageous or bold. I kinda wish I did, but that’s just not me. I commend those who do have the fashionable guts to go out on a limb when it comes to fashion. Bravo! But, for me…I guess I’m just a laid back California girl and there’s nothing wrong with that. This past weekend is the perfect example of that. Very black and white. Just the way I like it.

Yes, you read that right. Dolce Vita has designed a line of shoes for one of my favorite stores, Target! So, frickin excited!
First of all, I would just like to ask…How did I not know about this? Oh that’s right, my laptop died when I was in N.Y.C., when all of this was happening!
These faux leather delights retail for $29.99-$34.99 and the flats also come in gold and grey. The oxfords are available without studs in black, but are available in grey with the studs. Many options! (you can click on the pic for info)
The ankle boots are mine! I called them! Has anyone gotten their hands on a pair yet? How is the fit and quality?
Update: I just ordered the ankle boots, apparently they aren’t in store yet. But, you can order them online. It says they should arrive in 2-4 weeks. Yay!
I’ve been in such a “purple” kind of mood lately. It’s not a color I normally wear, but I’m starting to step out of my color “comfort zone.” I’ve always been afraid to look like Barney or something. What was I thinking? I would have to dress head-to-toe in this color to look like this pre-schooler’s idol. But, now I know I can add a splash of color without getting out of control.
What color(s) have you been hesitant about wearing? Do you wear them now?
I know summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep looking for that chic summer dress! These dresses are from Saks Fifth Avenue’s Salon Z department…so they are probably going to remain on my wish list due to budget restraints. That’s OK…a curvy girl can still look, can’t she?
I am always on the hunt for that perfect hand cream. You know the one that doesn’t feel greasy, but can still moisturize. Yes, I’m one of those skin health people. You should be one too! When was the last time you took a second out of the day to handle your skin care business? It’s so
important! That’s it…you need to take a pledge…now! Eucerin is here to help and you get a free sample (I love free!) of their Daily Skin Balance while you’re at it (for a limited time). All you have to do is take their “Skin First Pledge” on Facebook I took mine at BlogHer.
Eucerin is on it! Read what they have to say:
Did you know that our skin is our first line of defense against infections, germs and pollutants? Or that more than half of our lifetime UV exposure occurs before we’re 20? By taking the Skin FIRST Pledge, you’re not only receiving free product – you’re also raising awareness around the importance of good skin care. As a bonus, for every pledge made, Eucerin will make a donation to Healthy Women, the nation’s leading independent health information source for women. -Eucerin.com
