Time does fly when you’re having fun! After returning from Blogalicious in Miami, I only had a day-and-a-half to get ready for my next trip. This time it was a 4 day mini-vacay to see my best friend (in the green dress) who lives in Maine. The last time I saw her was in May and I was definitely missing her. It was so strange unpacking my summer clothes from the Miami trip, then packing the fall clothes for the New England weather. Even though it was a bit chilly and it rained all day on Friday, I couldn’t help but stare at the gorgeous colors of the fall foliage as we drove to Boston. We went out dancing that night and had such a great time (as you can tell in the photos). I am always inspired by the curvy women when I visit other towns. It’s fun to see what the curvaliscious trends are in different parts of the country. For most of the trip I wore sweaters, skinny jeans, and UGG boots. Sorry, but that’s mandatory vacation gear for me. But, as you can tell I did dress up for the night out in a simple LBD and my Steve Madden leopard print pumps. And the striped cashmere eternity scarf I’m wearing was gifted by Marshalls. It’s soft, warm, and perfect for fall weather. After a long flight home, I made it back to L.A. safe and sound. I think I’m going to stay grounded for a while.
With all of my recent running around, I haven’t any time to really go shopping! I know! I’ve been super good when it comes to spending money I don’t have. It’s a serious problem…I know. I was even inches away from amazing deals at this Coach Outlet in Freeport, Maine over the weekend and I didn’t spend a dime! It was horrible! Well, now it’s time to drool over shoes…well…brown Steve Madden boots to be exact. I need a pair so bad. The brown boots I have weren’t made for my curvy calves! My mom bought them for me two years ago and I just can’t wear them. Sorry mom! Hopefully, she’ll read this and get some ideas!
If you follow me on twitter than you know I tweeted about this the other day. Forever 21′s extended sizes line Faith 21 will soon become Forever 21+ Plus Sizes. I received a range of comments on this tweet. Some love it, some aren’t sure, and well…some don’t really care. How do you feel about it?
P.S. I’m dying over these pieces!!
Created by designer Jacqueline Floro, the INES Collection is a result of her friends and family desire, over a size 10, to design clothes for them. You can find the collection for sale on ShopTranslated.com.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Nordstrom anymore than I already do, they are in the midst of unveiling their own plus-size line.
“Nordstrom recognizes that plus-size women deserve more on-trend, in-store and online choices, and is pleased to announce its new plus-size brand with modern styling called Sejour. Sejour will be available exclusively in the Encore department beginning the first through second weeks of November. The brand will launch in two phases with the first roll-out in November, and culminate in the spring with our entire selection of styles.” -Nordstrom Press Release
Along with a couple of other bloggers, I was contacted by Nordstrom to review some of their new pieces. I am beyond honored to be involved in their new fashion venture.
The thing I love the most about Sejour is the fact that they are going to feature looks that are great for layering. This includes great fabric manipulation and fun textures like sequins, beading, and embellishments for the season.
Their pieces will go from weekend to work, evening to holiday, sizes 14W-24W, and 1X-3X, primarily in a curvy fit. The pricing will range from $28-$200. As you can see in the “Blogalicious 2010: What I wore” post I made sure to try the Rayon leggings and Drape Front Embellished Top right away. There are a few other pieces that I will review for you soon.
Make sure you keep an out for this new line headed to the Nordstrom Encore department nearest you!
Blogalicious Weekend in Miami was beyond anything I imagined. The women were smart, creative, and fabulous! I met so many great ladies, even from the moment I stepped of off the plane! We had such a busy weekend of sessions, that I didn’t have time to take proper outfit posts. It was a wake up early and go to bed late kind of weekend. Here are a few pics from that weekend with a description of what I wore. Oh and by the way, as you can see in most of the photos, I was having MAJOR bang issues! Ughhh!
This weekend I wore a few amazing pieces (above) that were gifted by Lane Bryant. I wore the Cowl neck “Is It” tunic($49.50), the Stripe sequin tank ($29.50), the Multi-layer friendship bracelet ($19.50), and Silvertone chandelier earrings ($14.50). If you know me, then you know I like to acquire multi-functioning pieces in my wardrobe. I love that I can dress up or dress down any of the pieces above.
Being that it’s Miami, I knew the stripe sequin tank would fit right in. I wore it out to dinner with the always amazing Lane Bryant denim jeggings and I got so many compliments on it! Seriously! The only issue I had were the sequins that were near my underarm were kind of scratching me. I think it’s because I got the tank a little too big. I should have stuck with the more fitted size.
As you can see below, I paired the tunic with a pair of gifted Sejour by Nordstrom rayon leggings (a new plus size line!). The gorgeous chandelier earrings brought a touch of sparkle to this all black outfit. This tunic can be worn as a dress. I would of done it too if I wasn’t too much of a chicken! I wore the friendship bracelet both nights and the day after. I love it!
Above I mentioned Sejour by Nordstrom, it’s a new plus-size line. I am going to do a post on this line soon, but I just wanted to mention them and show you the two pieces I wore this past weekend. I wore their luxuriously soft Rayon Leggings and this gorgeous Drape Front Embellished Top (below) that was also gifted. I wish you could see the sparkle of this top. I paired it with Lane Bryant earrings and black skinny jeans from Old Navy.
This is an amazing top I found on the clearance rack at Macy’s. It’s by Rachel Roy and it was originally $99 and I bought it for $20! I was in heaven! The colors remind me of a sunset. I think it was meant to be big, because the tag say’s it’s a medium and it fit me. I wore it with my Torrid jeans and sandals. Loved it!
**Some of these items were gifted. This has no way affected my review, all of the above is my honest opinion. Please read my disclosure policy here.

Blogalicious Weekend is in full effect here in Miami! Yes, I am at another blogging conference and I am already having a lot of fun and it’s only day 1! I am so very lucky to be here. I am sending out a tremendously huge Thank You to General Mills and Que Rica Vida for their generous sponsorship. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be here. I also want to encourage my Spanish speaking friends with an iPad to check out the Que Rica Vida app. There are tons of delicious recipes. Lane Bryant also gets a huge hug and thanks for sponsoring two of my outfits. You will definitely see pics of my outfits soon. I’m trying to figure out this iPad.
Last night a group of us bloggers were put up in a suite at the W Hotel on the beach. It was very trendy, yet chic! I didn’t want to leave. Now, we are attending all the sessions and panels here at the Ritz Carlton. An amazing day so far. Maybe I’ll get the chance to sneak in some shopping. I will def keep you all up to date. Hopefully, I can post some outfit pics later.
If you’re a blogger, I would really recommend attending these conferences if you can. It’s a great way to network and learn from these amazing bloggers. I wish you were all here to enjoy this.
Sending you hugs and kisses from South Beach!
Jean Paul Gaultier paraded a few different shapes and sizes down his Paris Spring 2011 runway. Although there is a debate at the moment whether Crystal Renn should be considered plus size anymore, she did look stunning. Renn has walked for him before in a 2005 show and recently in his ads. The fabulous Beth Ditto and Marquita Pring rounded out the curves on the JPG rock n’ roll catwalk (no pun intended). You might recognize Pring from the V Magazine “Size Issue.” I think Gaultier is making an impression, but will other designers ever follow suit?
It’s finally raining in L.A.! Yay! I think I’m one of the few that actually love this kind of weather here in Southern California. I have this urge to go and jump in some puddles! But, I probably won’t without a proper pair of rain boots. Just take a look at some of the chic rain gear I found. Now, if you only I could find a decent plus size rain coat. Any tips?
My favorite America’s Next Top Model winner, Whitney Thompson was all smiles and motivation as she participated in the The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) 2nd Annual NYC NEDA Walk. With over 700 people in attendance, they raised approximately $140,000!!
Thompson, a NEDA Ambassador, addressed the crowd about body image before the walk began. “I want everyone to know that they don’t have to conform to the images they see in the media. Real beauty is something that cannot be found in a magazine or on TV,” said Thompson. “I encourage all of you to speak out, write letters and insist that these publications work harder to promote a positive body image.”
NEDA will also be hosting their annual conference on October 8-10 in New York City.
And don’t forget the amazing Whitney Thompson will also be hosting the Love Your Body Day in West Hollywood, California on October 22-24. I’ll be there!!
About NEDA: The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. We campaign for prevention, improved access to quality treatment, and increased research funding to better understand and treat eating disorders. We work with partners and volunteers to develop programs and tools to help everyone who seeks assistance.

It’s all about the “Carpe diem” collection at carmakoma. Just take a peek at a few images from their fall/winter lookbook. Loving this collection.
I know this lookbook might be a little late, but hey better late then never…right?
According to the carmakoma web site “The woman in carmakoma’s new collection is ready to face the world. She welcomes any surprise the day might offer and does not hesitate to seize the moment and stand up for what she believes in.”
This Danish designer brand “emphasizes the characteristics and qualities of the confident woman in a novel, luxurious look.” I like the sound of that!
If you’re a fashion blogger from L.A., then you should really consider becoming a member of Two Point Oh LA
Two Point Oh LA was created by the beautiful Kelsi Smith of Dedicated Follower of Fashion. Her goal is to “educate, inform, promote and entertain her membership base, through a web based platform and through monthly events, to include workshops, promotions and networked gatherings.” And it’s only a $25 membership fee for the year. It’s a great way to network and meet other fashion lovers! I’ve only been a member for about a month and I’ve already been invited to a few events. It’s great! Marie Denee, The Curvy Fashionista, is also a member.
Today, the Two Point Oh LA Fall 2010 Lookbook was released. It’s a collection of fall looks like Bohemian Rhapsody, Coming Down with Mono, Flirting with the Fifties, Man I Feel Like a Woman and Nomadic Notions (the only plus size look).
Marie and I were designated the Nomadic Notions look, unfortunately I got sick and had a fever the night before the shoot. So, I wasn’t able to participate that day. I was really bummed, but Marie did an AMAZING job at the Downtown L.A. shoot! Take a look below!
