Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?

Honestly, I can’t say that I have a favorite fashion designer as I generally don’t shop in that category. I do love the Michael by Michael Kors line, because of his simple, chic, and classic designs. His looks are very much my style, and they’re fairly affordable! Marc Jacobs’ designs are serious eye candy for me, though.

What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?

A full face of makeup! I am one of those girls that cannot leave the house without makeup on. I feel drab and lacking polish when I don’t have any makeup on.

If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?

Probably a magical bloat eliminator. We all have those days when we feel utterly bloated and unattractive, right? I think it would be great to have a magical product that would restore us to our normal unbloated state. Let’s call it Bloat Be-Gone!

If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?

I’d love to have a fashion extravaganza in London. I would pack comfortable yet stylish flats, a black pencil skirt, a polka dot blouse, and a cropped blazer. That’s a very “me” look.

Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?

I don’t live by any one fashion philosophy in particular, but I am a firm believer that being stylish does not depend on the size of your body or the size of your bank account.

Accessorizing with a Summer Hat

If there’s one thing I’ve figured out ,while writing this blog, it’s that I don’t wear enough hats. Hats are an accessory a lot of us might not think about when putting together a spring or summer look. Which is kind of funny, because in the early 1900′s it was considered disgraceful to walk outside of your home without a hat and a pair of gloves! Imagine?

Today, there are many different styles of hats. You might have even seen a lot of fashionistas out there wearing the straw panama or fedora hat. Cute, but I’m looking for a hat to wear to the beach this summer. In fact, I’d love to get my hands on a big floppy hat. I saw a few today that I’m considering. I can’t wait to hit the beach! Do you already have your summer hat?

I’ve been seeing a lot of mesh around lately…and I wondered if I was daring enough to wear it. I think I would if it was on a shoe. These are really HOT and could add enough punch to any outfit. Very daring!

‘Pinky’ Paisley Top Giveaway!!

I must confess…I buy stuff and never wear it. Yes, it is true!! I’m so ashamed! So, to make up for it, I’m going to give one of you this ‘Pinky’ paisley top! I purchased this from Alloy and I thought I’d wear it, but I haven’t.

It is brand new, but I removed the tags. I promise that it’s never been worn. You have my word! It is an XL, but it is very roomy and flowy. It is a see through top, but you can just throw a tube top underneath. So, it should fit anyone from a U.S. size 12-18…maybe even a size 20.

ASOS Curve…I love you.

It’s official…I’m in love with the ASOS Curve line. Ok, I may only have one purchase under my belt, but I’m sold. I know a lot of you love their clothes as well, so I had to buy something. Whenever I order something online, I try to buy something on clearance, just in case I don’t like the way it fits. This way I know I didn’t spend a lot of money on it (It’s the inner bargainista).

As I scoured the clearance, I found the Woven Insert Tee (see pic above) for only $8.45 in white!! I wore it on Saturday night to a romantic Italian dinner with my hubby. BTW this is so L.A…this is the resturaunt where the hostess was a contestant on America’s Next Top Model. Anywhoo…

This tee is so comfortable and the cotton is undeniably soft! Initially, I was worried that it might be too see through, but it wasn’t. I wore a nude bra underneath and I got the hubby’s approval. The length and fit is perfect. Congrats ASOS…you now have a new customer!

OK…considering I just went shopping yesterday, I really shouldn’t want to buy something today. Right? But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this skirt!!!! They don’t have it at my local Forever 21 yet…I just called. And it’s only $13.80! Should I get it? Ugggghhhhh!!! I know I can wear it when I go to Las Vegas!! What to do???

So…you blog?

I am a blogger. Yes, that’s who I am.

I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years now. I’ve done it in various formats, trying to find my niche. In 2008, I created Urbanista, a blog about fashion and beauty for the urban/city woman. This past January, I asked myself if that blog was really what I was all about. Don’t get me wrong, I love that blog. I’m actually thinking of going at in a different direction. But, I had to ask myself a few questions.

Do I love fashion? Yes.
Do I love beauty? Yes.
Do I love shopping? Yes.
Do I love to blog? Yes.

Wait…Why do I blog about fashion that I can’t wear? I’m a plus-size girl blogging in a NON-plus-size world. That’s when I decided to create Curves and Chaos. I’m so glad I did.

Why do I blog? It’s very simple…

I blog because I love to share information. I blog because it makes me very happy. I blog because I’ve had a dream to write since I was little. I blog because I have a degree in Journalism and I love this format of New Media. I blog because I love that I can write what I want, when I want, about anything I want. I blog because I can.

I do run a couple of other blogs and yes I consider this my “job.” I also consider it my passion.

I’ve learned a few things in the past couple of years as a blogger. I’d love to share them with you.

Write from your heart.
Be creative and original.
Stay true to yourself.
No one likes an egotistical blogger.
If at first your blog doesn’t succeed…try and try and try again.
It’s your blog…do whatever YOU want.

Beauty Buzz: Cool Eyes

It doesn’t get any cooler than these eye shadows from bareMinerals? I’ve never been daring when it comes to trying different products, but I might just have to try out these colors: Patience, City Lights, Reveal, Azure, and Liberty.

When I saw these colors, the first thing that came to mind was a day at THE BEACH! A cool summer breeze…lounging….having an ice cold drink in my hand…the sound of the waves…

Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?

I love Alice + Olivia, Qristyl Frazier and Monif C. Sorry! I could not pick just one. Although I can’t fit anything but accessories from Alice + Olivia, I still draw inspiration from their clothing. As far as Qristyl and Monif are concerned, I think they really know the plus sized figure.

What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?

As of right it’s the denim jacket that I “borrowed” about a month ago from my friends closet. I will probably be in pain when she finally remembers that I have it and wants it back. haha I’ve been trying to find my own, but no such luck yet.

If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?

I have such a hard time matching my skin up to foundation. I know one of the drug store lines claims to blend and match perfectly with your skin, but I have yet to see that happen. Hmm so I’d create the most perfect foundation ever and since I’m not clever with naming things, I shall call it…Skin!

If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?

First, I’d probably starting sweating profusely at the idea of packing in ten minutes. I hate packing! I’d bring my trusty black pencil skirt, a LBD, brown heels and black heels, a pair of jeans and comfy tees, “my” denim jacket and a navy blazer.

Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?

Not really. I wish I could say something that sounds witty and profound, but I really just enjoy fashion. I may not be as extreme or edgy as some people are, but I like to take bits and pieces of what they are wearing and work it into my wardrobe. I like a classic trend with a bit of “I did not see that coming” edge to it whether it’s my hair, my polish or accessories. Oh wait a minute, I thought of a quote! “A girl should be two things; classy and fabulous.” ~Coco Chanel

Celeb Curves: Queen Latifah

I have always been a fan of Queen Latifah…so I’m wondering…Why haven’t I taken my butt to see “Just Wright” yet? Man! I’m so slow when it comes to movies.
