! I adorrrrre! This California native started with apparel in 2001 and designed her first handbag in 2005. It’s been “Handbag Delight” ever since. Today, her collection consists of apparel, handbags, and accessories. I really need to get my butt to one of her sample sales here in L.A. My friend Ivory keeps on telling me to go. OK Ivory, I promise to go to the next one with you! Geez, you and your shopping pressure! LOL Anywho…back to the bags. Like I was saying…I love them and I’d gladly take one of each style in any color. Hopefully the handbag fairies are listening. Just putting it out there. OH! And they’re having their End of the Year Online Sale now! Hurry it ends tonight!
It doesn’t have to sparkle, but it does have to stand out. When it comes to my New Year’s Eve jewelry, I always lean towards statement pieces. There’s just something about jewelry that does the talking for you. It’s an easy way to dress up a simply chic dress or a way to add a lot of drama to any cocktail dress. Don’t be afraid! Be bold and daring!
OK…you’re probably sick of me and sequins by now! LOL!! But, to be honest, I’m not. I could probably wear them every day. It’s a sequin addiction!!
Maybe it’s just the holidays and maybe it will pass after the new year. We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, this is the outfit I wore on Christmas Eve.
Pennington’s sent me their Allover Sequin Tee and I love it. The only issue I have with it , would have to be my hair getting caught in the sequins on the backside of the tee. But, that’s the only thing. lt’s very comfortable and has the perfect length sleeves. The sequins don’t poke or bother at all. I wore it with my Torrid jeans.
I do have to tell you about a new pair of shoes I bought. The Steve Madden PUMMP is my new “go to” black platform. I LOVE this shoe! Seriously, it’s probably the highest heel I own at 4.75 inches, but they’re pretty comfortable. I think it’s the chunky heel that adds the comfort. I’ve been eyeing them for a while and I’m sooooo happy I grabbed them. I found them at Nordstrom Rack for half of what Steve Madden is selling them for! I know I’ll be wearing them a lot…like a lot!
What did you wear on Christmas Eve?
Disclosure: The Pennington’s top was gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.
Hi my loves! I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas. I really had an amazing weekend. And now that Christmas has come and gone, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s Eve. Do you know what you’re wearing? As for me? I don’t even know what I’m doing yet. LOL. You know I’m a last minute kind of girl. Well, if you’re planning to attend a formal event here are a few gowns I found for you. I love the Adrianna Papell one, it’s stunning!
This is going to be a short and sweet “Beauty Buzz.” There’s no sugar coating when I’ve found a product I love. I was gifted a small sample can of Suave’s Dry Shampoo at the Two Point Oh L.A. Snowball.
I’ve heard all the stories about dry shampoo and even wrote a small post about a certain brand’s new line. But, this is the first time I’ve actually used it. I was supposed to meet up with two of my girls for dinner, but the boiler in my apartment building broke and we didn’t have hot water. There was no shower in my future. My hair tends to get oily and I thought this would be the best time to use it.
Suave’s Dry Shampoo has mineral clay in it that soaked up the oil in my hair. It smells great and it added lift to my hair. Problem solved! And the best thing about it? It’s only $2.74 at Target! You and your hair can thank me later.
It’s official my loves! Today is the first day of winter. Well…it’s almost 70 degrees here in L.A., so I’m not really experiencing a chilly winter day. I swear I’m not bragging! I love the cold weather and I wish I could trade you, that way I can wear these warm and comfy knits. These also come in handy if you’re traveling this holiday season. OK…I’m ready to house swap with someone who has snow outside their door right now!
Update: On 12/22/11 I spoke with the manager on duty at this Macy’s location. I explained my experience. He was very kind, understanding, and sincerely apologized. We chatted a bit about it and he said he would definitely speak with the associate. I hope he does and she learns from the incident. There’s no room for size/shopping discrimination. I’ll let my $$$ speak for me from here on out.
I’ve worked many years in the retail world. I know what great customer service is and I can spot crappy customer service from a mile away. As a sales associate, I knew that a smile and hello went a long way. And I would never discriminate against a shopper looking to spend their money in my store.
It sucks, but shopping discrimination happens a lot and is never really spoken about. It’s uncalled for and I don’t understand it. Why would you want to stop someone from buying something in your store? And why would you try to make them feel like they don’t belong there?
Today, I was doing my Christmas shopping and I walked into Macy’s. I was looking to buy a coat for my mother-in-law. I came across a beautiful purple one with gold buttons, but I really wanted it in red. So, I asked the sales associate, who was standing behind the register, if they had one in that color.
She looked up at me and said, “Yes, but not in your size.”
Now, I will honestly tell you, I’m not a super sensitive person. But, this really irritated me. Not once did I say the coat was for me. I told her it was for my mother-in-law and I walked away. I didn’t buy anything there and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever shop at that location again.
I have no idea what that sales associate thinks about women who are my size. And maybe she didn’t “mean it that way.” I couldn’t tell you what ran through her mind as those words were spoken.
I will tell you I’ve been shopping at Macy’s for years and never once experienced anything like this. But, I have heard stories from women who have experienced it at other retailers. I just never thought it would happen to me.
In case you’re wondering, I decided to address Macy’s here for one reason only. I want them and other retailers to know that words like these can be hurtful. Whether it’s about size, race, age, or physical appearance-discrimination is discrimination. I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to spend my hard earned money in places that treat me like this.
I’m curious to know if any of you have experienced anything like this. What was your reaction?
I was just in there the other day and if I wasn’t in such a big hurry I definitely would’ve tried some of them on. I already own their navy blue 10-way dress, but I’m secretly coveting this red one below. I’m a sucker for a red dress. This is a reminder to wear this color more often. It’s such an eye catcher. Some of the dresses below are “web exclusives” and are on sale. Take a second to shop what’s new & hot at Ashley Stewart.
I don’t know about you but, this Christmas season definitely has me in a shopping mood. Am I the only one? LOL?
Will the obsession ever end? Really? Yes, more sequins and lots of sparkle. I wore this outfit for my dad’s 60th birthday party and I felt sassy. LOL! I did!
Torrid’s Black Mesh Sequin Front Tank Top immediately caught my eye and I had to have it. The front is sheer, but adorned with sequins and beading. I love this top! I will admit this is my second time wearing it. I wore it to the Jay-Z and Kanye concert.
I’m also wearing Torrid’s Boom Boom Jeans. These stretch trousers are an internet exclusive. They’re comfy and have a little stretch to them. I ordered my size and these felt a little big. I would definitely order one size down and be careful with closure on the waist. It’s just a little button and I think it needs a little reinforcement. Besides that, I know I’ll be wearing these a lot. And the sequin obsession continues…
Do you love sequins too?
Disclosure: Torrid provided these clothes for reviewing purposes. I was NOT compensated for this post. The above is my true and honest opinion.
As a child, I was enrolled in an elementary school with a strict dress code. Girls could only wear skirts and dresses (no shorter than your knees of course) with collars or a collared shirt. I did this from kindergarten until the 5th grade. So, when I noticed ASOS Curve’s love for collars, I immediately had flashbacks. LOL…OK it’s not that bad.
I did notice their mini-obsession with the collar. Which you can find embellished, Peter Pan style, scalloped, and even color blocked.
