Say Goodbye to #ALLERGYFACE with these Beauty Tips!
It’s almost August and here I am, fresh out of the pool——>
Wait a second…I will be in NYC in 5 days! I can’t believe how fast all of this is happening. If you would have asked me a month ago if I was going to attend the BlogHer conference…I would’ve said no. Now, not only am I attending, but I’m a volunteer. So super duper excited to meet bloggers from all over the United States and learn from them. I am very grateful for this experience.
I will be tweeting, vlogging, and blogging about my trip. From outfit posts (including an outfit courtesy of
There is just something about the color red that screams “Look at me!” It’s such a hot color and I love it! Maybe it’s the red Camaro my mom drove when I was little, but it has always been my favorite color. I was at the mall yesterday and everything red caught my eye. Especially the shoes! And then I looked in my closet and realized I don’t even have any red pieces! I need to get my hands on something red.
I am on a mission! A mission to find a soft cup/wire free bra that will support these puppies! Underwire bras have been bugging me lately! But, I don’t want just any bra. Once I get back from NYC, there’s going to be some serious bra shopping going on. I found a few below that I thought might work for me, in certain clothing and life situations. Are you a wire free lady? What brands do you love?
Beauty trends come and go, but advice lives forever. Right? I’ll never forget the beauty advice my mom gave me as a teen. And of course I’ve read tons of beauty tips online and in my favorite
magazines.
But, there are a few that I will never forget and am so grateful for. They are not only essential, but some are very basic and practical. Here are a few of my favorites:
Use a used ‘cooled’ green tea bag for puffiness, redness, or itchy skin.
Try not touching your face. Your hands may have dirt and oils that will clog your pores.
If you run out of shaving cream, you can use hair conditioner.
When wearing a fragrance on your wrists, don’t rub them together. The scent can be altered.
Like I said, they are simple. Nothing too scientific here. Now, I know all beauty tips are different. Some tips work and some don’t. I know I’ve tried stuff that hasn’t worked for me. What has worked for you?
What are some of your favorite beauty tips? Share!!
I really want this outfit before the summer ends. I love the coral in this outfit. I think it’s one of my favorite colors of the season. And that dress looks super flattering. I love flattering.
My favorite designer changes with each season, as I constantly see my perspective on style and fashion change. Marc Jacobs is a consistent favorite and I love what the Rodarte sisters do, as well. However, right now, I am crushing on a local designer from Boston, Millie Bautista, who after seeing her clothing first hand, has converted me into an instant fan. She works with textures in a creative way to add interest to very basic pieces, such as a black sheath dress. I like designers who can make clothing look like art, but still feel like something you could wear with your friends out to brunch.
What is the one fashion accessory/item you can’t live without?
I love this simple silver ring from Bali that one of my students gave me as a Valentine’s Day Gift. I love accessories that have a story attached to it, as it makes it more interesting when someone asks you, “Where did you get that?”
If you were allowed to create a beauty product, what would it be and what would you name it?
Great Question! I’d make a hair product that made sure every girl with curly hair had perfect frizz-free curls everyday! I’d call it, “Amelia’s Miracle!”
If you only had 10 minutes to pack for a fashion extravaganza in your favorite city, what would you bring and where would it be?
A black dress with a scoop neck to reveal the sexy collar bone/neck, black tights to elongate the legs, black platform pumps, a cocktail ring, and Nars lipstick in Red Lizard in Paris, of course. Oh! And I’d bring along my iPod to play a pre-party music mix!
Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?
“Dress for where you wish you could be, not where you are going.” My mom has always taught me through her own style that fashion is not only about self-expression, but about telling a story. Usually, that story is based in some sort of fairy tale/dream.
We have a winner!! (The winner was randomly selected using random.org.)
And the winner is Martina! Congrats!!
Do you have wrinkles, enlarged pores, dryness, redness, discoloration, uneven skin tone, impurities, loss of firmness, loss of smoothness, and loss of radiance? (I don’t know about you, but I have a few of these!)
It’s no secret that I’m not a makeup guru when it comes to eye shadow. I always stare in amazement at my cousin’s makeup. She’s amazing and can create the perfect eye.
One day I will learn how to create the perfect eye! So, until then, I think I need to buy the Too Faced Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection. Seriously? Isn’t this delish? It even comes with a tutorial, for gals like me. I got an email from Sephora today and it’s selling this $73 value for $35! Need it now!
Do you want those beach tousled waves without going to the beach? This is one of my favorite hairstyles. It’s a simple style and it’s the classic “California Girl” look. There are even products out there specifically made for “beach waves.” Doesn’t Jessica Simpson look lovely?
I found this easy tutorial on eHow:
Step 1 Wash and – don’t over condition!
Step 2 Apply hair product, such as Frederick Fekkai Summer Hair Beach Waves all over hair. Blow dry hair using fingers only, scrunching as your dry.
Step 3 If you need extra curl, take a medium barrel curling iron and curl only the top of hair, starting mid-shaft.
Step 4 Flip hair upside down and toss hair with fingers to loosen curls. Spray a fine layer of hairspray and flip back. Use fingers to “tame” down any wild strands. Beautiful!
