If there’s one thing that bugs me the most about the plus size fashion industry, it’s the lack of true representation when it comes to body shape and size diversity. Not every plus size woman has a flat stomach, is hour glass shaped, or is 5’9 or taller. I’m 5’6, a size 16/18, and I carry most of my weight in my stomach. I’ve discussed this before on this blog or probably ranted about it on…
Over the years, the idea of cleansing your face has changed drastically. The tools we use and technology play such a huge part—this goes for women and men. Yes, men too! A few weeks ago, my good friend Jeshua and I were invited out to Baxter Finley Barber & Shop in L.A. to check out the new Clarisonic Alpha Fit for men. It’s a new cleansing system designed specifically for a man’s face.
October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness month! And I am definitely thinking not only pink, but I am thinking that I want to help raise awareness and funds for the cause. That’s why I’ve decided that on October 17, 2015, I will be joining thousands of others by participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Breast Cancer walk here in Los Angeles. That means I’m in full on fundraising mode. And I need your help!
Whenever October rolls around, I’m always curious to see what plus size Halloween costumes will be popular. It’s usually “Sexy Police Officer” or “Sexy Nurse” that seems to get the most attention. I even saw a “Sexy Raccoon” costume today. I wish I was joking. Anyways, I’m not afraid to admit that I’m sooooo over sexy costumes that leave me freezing on Halloween night. So, I kind of went on a little hunt and found 20 plus size…
Are you craving fall inspiration like I am? I live in Los Angeles where fall seems to be nonexistent. So, I have to be inspired some way or another. That’s why I put together this new board on Pinterest of all things autumn. Take a look at “Craving Fall” and don’t forget to follow me for that pinspiration. Follow Curves and Chaos™’s board Craving FALL on Pinterest.
If there is anything you should know about me, it has to be my support and advocacy for the fight against breast cancer. And as we all know, October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This Sunday, October 4, 2015, I am honored to co-host an event with Lane Bryant and the American Cancer Society at their Culver City, CA location—and you’re invited!
This is basically my “wishful thinking” fashion post. Meaning…I wish it was cold enough here in L.A. to wear any one of these plus size cardigans right now. Guys, it’s still hot here and it doesn’t look like the cooler fall temperatures will be here any time soon. So, I sit here dreaming of sweater weather. And like I always do, I found a few favorites that I wanted to share with you.
That moment you’re on a roller coaster and you’re about to hit a frightening loop. That ache in the pit of your stomach is back – but this time it rushes up through your heart. It feels like it grasps at your throat. Causing you to cry out in pain with a voice you’ve never heard before. Tears explode through you. You hyperventilate. And in that moment…you just feel helpless.
True story…I’ve been taking selfies before selfies were “a thing.” If you left your camera laying around, more than likely you found selfies of me making insane faces. Today, selfies are totally normal. So much in fact, that my good friend and makeup artist extraordinaire Luis published #beautiful by Luis Casco—50 Easy-to-create selfie-ready beauty looks. And I’m going to give you a chance to win your very own autographed copy!
Calling all of my Sophie Theallet fans. The lingerie designer has teamed up againwith Lane Bryant for a 5th time! She’s bringing her designs to the fall and holiday Cacique Lingerie and Sleepwear collections. It will hit Lane Bryant stores later this month and the beginning of November. Which pieces do you have your eye on?
Oh fall…I can’t believe you’re finally here. Even though it doesn’t feel like it because L.A. is in the middle of a heatwave. But, that’s OK. Because, I am in a fall kind of mood when it comes to my shopping! And I have a few things brewing in that department. 10 favorites as a matter of fact.
Sponsored by Kmart. There I was in the store’s toy section. Walking through each aisle commenting how we never had cool toys like this when I was a kid. No, seriously…we didn’t! I had my two-year-old nephew with me as he jumped from toy to toy—wanting everything in sight. We’ve all been there right? Toys hold a power in kids unlike anything else. They have the ability to empower, educate, and inspire their young minds.
