Since the crazy, mad busy, and stressful holidays are here, you’re bound to have some sleepless nights. And what comes with lack of sleep? Puffy eyes! Sorry for the reminder. I’ve been all about my eyes lately. Trying this and that, but I came across the Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel recently and I wanted to share it with you. Read more
This is my first holiday post and I’m so excited! Yes, I’m that person. You know this is my favorite time of the year. I’ve been snooping around online and I’ve spotted some holiday fashion trends. Five trends to be exact. And I’m going to share them with you over the next week. Let’s start it off with metallics. Read more
Let’s be honest here. I love wearing all black outfits. I do love other colors, but not as much. And since we’re being honest, I only wear bold prints every once in a while. I try to be adventurous, but sometimes I just love simple outfits. But, when Igigi reached out and asked if I’d like to try a dress from their latest collection, I stepped out of my comfort zone on purpose. Say hello to the Igigi Evelyn dress.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know how adamant I am about being proud of who you are. This means inside and out my loves. There are so many different things that make me who I am and being Latina is one of my favorites. I come from a long line of amazing and strong women—like my mom. Growing up, she not only inspired me to be whatever I wanted, but even today she continues to support me no matter what I do. Read more
Shout out to Helena, a fellow blogger over at PinkGuayoyo.com for inspiring this post. She asked me on Twitter what some of my favorite plus-size skinny jeans were. Then I realized, this is not the first time someone one has asked me that question. So, I set out to do a little research and see what the internet had to offer us in the skinny jean department. I know I’ve said a million times how much I love colder weather. Of course, there are some downsides to it. One that I honestly can not stand is what it does to my hands. I am that person who is tortured with dry, cracking, and itchy hands in the winter. Yup, that’s me. My big ol’ paws (courtesy of my dad and I wouldn’t have it any other way) are not happy when dealing with chilly weather. I can happily say goodbye to the torture because I’ve discovered Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream and took their 7-day challenge. Read more
I’m happy to report that it’s finally starting to feel like sweater weather around here. You don’t even know how happy that makes me. I’m a huge fan of chilly weather. I know you East Coasters probably think I’m crazy, but when you live in L.A. it’s not something you’re used to. This gloomy day helped me realize that it’s time to stock up on cozy sweaters. Are you a fan of Shea Moisture? I know there are a lot of you out there who are! I’ve heard the buzz about this brand, but I’ve never tried it. Just so you know, if you aren’t interested in soft and vibrant hair, you might as well just stop reading this post right now. I was sent a few pieces from the Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System to try out. And I can say I’m impressed with how great it works…I can’t stop touching my hair. Read more
Aren’t you sick and tired of people telling you what you shouldn’t wear as a plus-size woman? I know I am. There are a lot of fashion rules out there, but of course there are some that are specifically targeted to us. You may or may not follow them, and that’s up to you. Just so you know, I’m not following anyone’s fashion rules except my own. Read more
It’s no secret that I’m not a makeup professional. I wasn’t even allowed to wear makeup until I was 17, although that didn’t stop me from wearing it at school and taking it off before I got home. My mom never showed me how to wear it and what not to do. In fact, my makeup life has been one stumbling block after another. Learning as I go. Read more
Blame it on the seasons…hormones…or just boredom. I’m hoping to make a few small changes around here. Nothing too drastic. I wouldn’t want to run you off or anything. I guess you can say I’m evolving in this crazy world of blogging. You may have already noticed that if you’ve been around since the beginning of Curves and Chaos. Read more
By now you’ve seen a lot of people painting their faces like sugar skulls in honor of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). These calaveras de azúcar are sweets that are normally sold in Mexico in the days and weeks leading up to the Mexican holiday—November 1-2. Urban Decay sent me some a few of their products to help create my own simple sugar skull makeup look. Read more
