As I write this, the snow has already begun to fall in the Northeast. Brrrr…I love the snow, but what I’ve heard about this storm is not appealing. So, what does any fashionista do in the snow? Put on fabulous snow boots of course! As a California girl, I’ve never owned a pair of snow boots. The closest I’ve gotten to any cold weather boots are my trusty Uggs. Sad, I know.
If I had to choose a free pair, I’d definitely take these Aquatalia boots for a whopping $450 or this Yves Saint Laurent boot that’s on sale for $675! I said if they were free! I wouldn’t pay that much for boots! What’s the most you’ve paid for snow boots? Was it worth it?
Regardless of your snow boot style, just promise me you’ll stay warm out there!
Little did I know a scented mist I received in a swag bag at BlogHer would start a beauty love affair with KleanSpa. First of all, I’m not a fan of strong over powering scents. I love natural floral and fruity scents and the KleanSpa mist was so yummy!
KleanSpa is a company that is dedicated to sharing their gift of “scentual discovery with others by providing luxurious and refreshing products.” Products that are “high quality, competitively-priced, naturally-focused, while pleasing the body, nose and spirit.”
Of course the mist isn’t the only thing I’ve fallen in love with. Thanks to KleanSpa, I was given a “Taste” of KleanSpa gift set ($34.50) to try out. ((Enter to win your own set below!)) This included the Sugar Body Polish in Let it Snow, the Whipped Shea Body Butter in Perfect Pumpkin, and the Mist in Roasted Nut & Orange Peel. Seriously, I just want to eat it all…BUT YOU CAN’T! It’s not edible. Oh darn!
Their ingredients consist of items like shea butter/oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, green tea powder, and more. MOST of their ingredients are natural…but, where it’s impossible to find a substitute, they do use a fragrance oil. And all products are always human tested first and they use a non-paraben preservative.
If you’re in the Los Angeles area you can stop by their Burbank or Santa Monica locations for their monthly Blending Bash where you can “Kreate” your own signature fragrance for only $35!
At the Bash, you will personally work with Jennifer (the owner) to create your own signature fragrance. Then you will make a 1/3oz Roll-on Perfume and a 4oz Lotion (or a bath Syrup in the Santa Monica store). Sounds like fun! Hmmmm…wonder what I’ll call my signature scent?
Giveaway: Here’s your chance to win your very own “Taste” of KleanSpa Gift Set valued at $34.50!
To enter, go to the KleanSpa web site HERE and tell me which scents you’ll choose in the polish, butter, and mist if you win as a comment below. Make sure to leave a valid email address or twitter i.d.
*Make sure you add the extra entries as a separate comment, will not count if they are not a separate comment. This means no more than 3 comments per person. Only open to valid U.S. residents and you must be 18 years or older to enter. Winner will be chosen using Random.org on February 1st, 2011.
Disclaimer: I was NOT financially compensated for this post, although the items were gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.
I don’t know how many times I’ve expressed my love for Anthropologie; only to be so disappointed with their lack of plus sizes. I am such a fan of the vintage and romantic vibe I get from their clothes, but I’m definitely not a fan of their prices. If you feel the same way I do, then you’re going to love the designs from Ruche! At first glance you think it’s just straight sizes, but they have a “Curvy Plus” section, sizes 1X-3X. Great romantic designs for a romantic dinner with the love of your life! I’m just sayin’!
Ok, I admit I’ve never worn their clothes, but I think I just might make a purchase to find out what the quality and fit is like. Oh…did I mention their price point is super reasonable? If you’ve purchased from Ruche please share!!
COVERGIRL encompasses beauty and glamour on the inside and out! And as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary, they want you to know that “Every woman is a COVERGIRL!”
I found out exactly what it means to be a true COVERGIRL. All thanks to an exclusive invite to their star studded 50th Anniversary party at BOA in Los Angeles! And there’s no better way to get red carpet ready, other than an exclusive “primping party” at The London hotel.
After the “primping” was over, we made our way to BOA for the party! I was nervous! It was my first red carpet and I don’t think I’ve ever been around so many celebrities. The venue was stunning and the free Godiva chocolate didn’t hurt. Neither did getting greeted at the door with a glass of champagne!
Celebrities on hand were Queen Latifah, Dania Ramirez, Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Selena Gonzalez, Mario Lopez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Riley, Ana de la Reguera, Cory Monteith, Kendra Wilkinson, Lauren Conrad, Niki Taylor, Portia De Rossi, Rachel Hunter, Sam Ronson, Sophia Bush, and Whitney Port…to name a few. I even bumped into a few celebs unknowingly.
I definitely felt like a true COVERGIRL!
Check out myCOVERGIRL, now featured on facebook.com/covergirl, it offers women the opportunity to star in their own COVERGIRL video or advertisement, with exclusive chances to win free makeup and once-in-a-lifetime experiences with Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Queen Latifah or Drew Barrymore. This year, beauty giant COVERGIRL cosmetics commemorates its 50th anniversary and that every woman is a COVERGIRL!
Last night, I had the extreme honor of being an honorary COVERGIRL by attending an exclusive “Primping Party” and Hollywood Red Carpet party! Don’t worry my full recap is coming soon! But, I did want to share the looks that COVERGIRL’s Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dania Ramirez were rocking on the red carpet as told by their makeup artists for the night.
Queen Latifah – by Celebrity Makeup Artist D’Andre Michael
Queen Latifah’s wardrobe for the show varied between Black, Hot Pink and Turquoise Blue so I wanted to give here a look that accentuated the eyes.
Taylor Swift- by Celebrity Makeup Artist Lorrie Turk
We decided to go for a fresh, pretty beauty look for Taylor for the People’s Choice Awards and the COVERGIRL 50th Anniversary Party. She opted for a slight departure from her signature bright red lip for more of an orangy-red, which added a pop of color to complement the light color of the dress.
Ellen Degeneres- by Celebrity Makeup Artist Heather Currie
Since this party was representing 50 years of COVERGIRL, I wanted Ellen to have a classic, clean, and beautiful look. At the same time, because she has such vibrant eyes, I wanted to do something sexy and smoky to add a little glamour.
Dania Ramirez- by Celebrity Makeup Artist Matthew VanLeeuwen
Dania’s makeup inspiration was a twist on a classic beauty look. She called me earlier that day to tell me she was in love with her dress and thought she wanted a red lip, which I totally agreed with once I saw her outfit. We stuck with a fairly clean, pale lid and sculpted brows, but I also wanted to add a little gold to the eyes in honor of COVERGIRL’s 50th Anniversary.
I’ve always lived by the idea of how you ring in the new year will dictate what the upcoming year will be like for you. So, of course I make sure I’m traveling or with family and friends. This year I headed up to San Francisco with my hubby, little brother, cousins, and my best friends. I love that city and the whole “living by the bay” atmosphere. I am also a huge fan of the shopping in the downtown area. To die for! Can I just say the Macy’s in Union Square has the largest “Woman’s” department I’ve seen in a Macy’s! Definitely, check it out. 2011 has started off with a bang for me! How about you? We are five days into this new year and I’m wondering if you’ve stuck to any of your resolutions. Is saving money one of them? I’m with you on that one; that’s why this year will be all about shopping on a budget. I started that resolution a little early as I planned my New Year’s Eve trip to San Francisco. I found this amazing handbag over at Nordstrom for $28! I’m amazed by it’s quality and style! If you’re searching for a “Bag on a Budget,” take a look at these below. They are all under $40!
Tomorrow is New Years Eve and I am going on a mini-vacation. So, I will be M.I.A. For a few days. I am sorry to report I don’t have a best of 2010 anything, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care. I think 2010 was very awesome! And I am definitely looking forward to what 2011 has to offer. I want to thank all of you for reading Curves and Chaos and always leaving me feedback. I hope to bring you a few changes to the blog in the new year and more giveaways!

We’re all looking for that one product that will make our hair not only stronger, but will also give it that brilliant shine. And if there’s one thing we all deal with, it’s the havoc that our daily styling routines do to our hair. Whether it’s blow drying, curling, or flat ironing; we do a lot of heat related damage to our luscious locks.
I have always been a Pantene user, it always provided great results at a reasonable price. One day, I was sitting in a chair at the P&G Home at the BlogHer 2010 conference, getting a mini-makeover and I asked the stylist what she would recommend for smoothing my hair. She recommended a product from the Restore Beautiful Lengths collection from Pantene. Months later I purchased the ‘Smoothing Balm.’
Product Claim: Pantene Pro-V Restore Beautiful Lengths Smoothing Balm helps resist breakage so you can grow hair longer* and helps keep fly-aways and frizz under control. It leaves you with smooth, manageable hair after you style it.
What I found out: The first thing I noticed about this product was the smell. It’s a clean and fresh scent. The balm is thick and non-greasy or sticky. After a regular blow dry your hair feels like it has a smooth protective coat on it, without being too stiff. I did find that it doesn’t take away all the frizz, but that’s probably because I didn’t use the diffuser that was recommended. And I love the shine it adds to my hair.
Would I buy it again? Yes, definitely. This is something I can see me using for a very long time. I just have to get my hands on a diffuser and see if that helps with the leftover frizz.
