New & Improved La Grande Dame Web Site!

La Grande Dame is officially launching their newly designed web site tomorrow, Tuesday November 16th!

“The new site isn’t just beautiful, it is easy to use.  Plus, we have designed it to make shopping for plus size clothing easier.  Shoppers can learn about the various body types and then shop for styles that will fit them!.”  Said La Grande Dame Co-founder Michelle Wood.

To celebrate the redesign, from November 16th-23rd, La Grande Dame is giving everyone 20% off the entire site! PLUS doorbusters for the first 50 shoppers. Doorbusters include free merchandise and gift certificates! One lucky shopper will win a $500 shopping spree to La Grande Dame. Even all newsletter subscribers will be entered for a chance to win. Use the coupon code LAUNCH20 for 20% off

“So many women feel they don’t deserve to buy beautiful clothing for themselves until they lose weight or because they are too fat to look good in anything. That’s ridiculous, if women wear clothes made for their particular body type in wonderful fabrics, every woman can look and feel great” exclaims Wood.

OOTD: Plaid, Cheap, and Easy?

Oh Target…this is another reason I love you!

I picked up this Converse One Star plaid dress for only $7 on clearance! I will admit it’s around two sizes too big, but nothing a little alteration won’t take care of. Besides if you just tie the strings in the back really tight, you can’t even tell.

This is the first plaid item I’ve bought for myself this season, I didn’t think I’d like it, but I love this dress!! It’s very comfortable and I love the military style brass buttons.

I wore a simple black cardigan, Assets opaque tights, Old Navy brass earrings (which you can’t see), and my boots from last season.

You know I love to keep things simple and easy. And this was! Oh…and the weather is starting to cool down, so I’m extra happy in the pic! LOL

Did someone say SALE?

First I would just like to say Happy Veteran’s Day to all of my military brothers and sisters. A heartfelt thank you to you all!

Now, on to the SALES! I found some of these sales in my inbox and you know I love to share! If you have or know of a sale going on please share in the comments below! Don’t keep the awesomeness to yourself!

Sequins Sparkle!

Like I need another reason to sparkle…hee hee…sequins always seem to stand out during the fall and winter seasons. I love wearing them during the holidays and as you saw in the Evans video below Toccara loves them too! Don’t worry if you think they’re too dressy, most of the pieces below are paired with jeans. It’s a great way to add a little “ooh la la” to an outfit. I love the cardigan below. Which one is your favorite?

5 Questions: Amanda Tice

Here’s a new feature simply titled “5 Questions:” Meet Amanda Tice! I had the honor of meeting the beautiful and extremely nice Amanda in Miami. She was one of the models showcased in a Bali exhibit for their new shapewear. I went over and spoke with the curvy women…of course, and found them to be so down to earth! I knew I had to introduce you to her! Read more

Evans gets us in the Holiday Spirit!

Do you need something to get you in that holiday spirit? Here’s a behind the scenes look at Evans Christmas catalog shoot featuring Toccara Jones and Laura Wells.

What I wore: “Discovering Màs”

On Saturday, I threw my first event for the Los Angeles Latina Bloggers. “Discovering Mas” was my attempt to bring together Latina bloggers to network and learn. It turned out to be an amazing day, with so many beautiful Latina women in one place! Thank you to everyone who came! This is the outfit I wore (left). Alfani top w/belt, Old Navy Jeans, and Sam Edelman flats.

The day before the event I was running errands and decided to stop by Macy’s really quick to see if I could find something to wear. To my surprise, the woman’s section had six clearance racks and there was a coupon for 20% off! Yay!

I have been eyeing this red Alfani top for a while now, but I didn’t want to pay the $65. I spotted it on the clearance rack and proceeded to pay only $8!! Thank you to the mysterious lady who gave me her coupon.

It was very comfy and cool, which was great because I was doing a lot of running around that day. These Latina bloggers wore me out!

After the event, my brother and I had a chance to hang out. Which is kind of rare these days. We went out and ate at Sake House Miro (Yum!) and then went to have a cold beer to celebrate. As you can tell in the photo (right), I needed a drink. I look so exhausted! LOL.

The sweater is from Marshalls, the gray jeans are Source of Wisdom from Torrid (gifted), and the boots are also from Torrid.

This was the first “official” event I’ve planned and it was stressful! But so worth it. I had so much fun and I really learned a lot. I love hanging out with bloggers!  Go to for an event recap.

Sassy City Chicks ‘Fashion Bash’ with My Girls!

Today, Cid from Cid’s Style File and I celebrated our friendship anniversary! Yes, I met Cid at the last Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash at the Peterson Automotive Museum here in L.A.! Memories…LOL. I met up with Cid, Nik from xoxo NikStar, Marie the Curvy Fashionista, the stylist extraordanaire Reah Norman, and beautylicious model Denise Bidot. We were in prime shopping mode!

I love these shopping events, but there is something missing…plus size fashion! It’s so sad, because we were ready to spend money! It seems like all we can get at these events are jewelry, shoes, and accessories. Not complaining about that, but I would love to be able to buy clothing. Are you shopping event planners listening?

I took a test drive in the new 2011 Chevy Camaro and Cruz, and we got in on some yummy Carl’s Jr. courtesy of Chevy. We even got our hands on some swag! Gotta love that swag! It was a great evening. Just take a look at my pics below!

Win a Charles & Victoria Design!

We all know that curves come in ALL shapes and of course sizes. I was recently contacted by Rachel the designer and creator of Charles & Victoria. Although this line isn’t a plus size line, she did make her pieces up to a size 14. And as the sizes got bigger, she created more curve where it was needed. Her goal was to design pieces that would fit a curvy body better. I like the way that sounds!

Rachel would love to give away a navy Ruffle Tank Dress in a size XL, which is a US 12/14 or UK 16/18  . Enter the giveaway below.
