It was a runway of curves at Elena Miro‘s Spring 2011 show. In stunning shades of gray, her models strutted their stuff during Milan’s Fashion Week. Yet, not a part of Milan’s Fashion Week. Kind of like One Stop Plus showed in New York during New York Fashion Week, but wasn’t a part of New York Fashion Week. Actually, just like that. In fact, according to many news sources, Miro was knocked off of Milan”s Fashion Week calender.
I saw this shirt at Torrid and I couldn’t help but love it! Of course you should love your boobies! You should love them so much you’d do anything to keep them! That means becoming knowledgeable when it comes to breast cancer awareness and loving your body. Yes, I do care. My aunt died from breast cancer and the odds are you probably know someone affected by it. Go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure web site now and learn more.
I think I’m going on a designer binge after checking out Milan Fashion Week. It’s all I can think about and sometimes that’s not such a good thing for a girl like me on a budget. But hey, it doesn’t hurt to look and save money for a much needed pair of designer sunglasses. I’m just sayin’! I’m still looking for the perfect pair.
I know I call myself a bargainista, but there’s nothing wrong with looking at beautiful designer pieces. In fact, they give me so much inspiration for the upcoming seasons. I have always been a fan of Fendi. This Italian super design house has never really disappointed me. Their Spring 2011 line was a stunner at Milan, and of course I am eyeing all of their hot accessories. All that red is killing me!!
In the world of shopping, I don’t think there is anything worse than falling in love with something and then finding out that it costs way more than what you can afford! Isn’t that the worse feeling? That’s why I love to research online and find items that not only standout, but are within my budget. Jewelry is one of those items I love to find for bargain prices. I hate to spend more than $25 for a piece of costume jewelry. Here are a few pieces I wouldn’t mind owning and are $25 & Under.
As I lay here in bed sick with a summer cold/fever/sinus thingee…I do what I do best. And that’s e-shopping for things I can’t buy right now. I am currently on the ASOS Curve page and I’m drooling and loving all of these jewel toned dresses. I can’t help but think how beautiful these dresses are and how they will make my fall and winter that much better.
As a self-professed bargainista, I am proud to say I LOVE TARGET! I’m there every week. And every week I am jealous of their designer collaborations. Why? Because, as a curvy gal, I don’t get to wear them. My local Target has a small, but decent plus size section, but nothing compared to the straight size department. I have come to accept the fact that us “curvy” girls will never get to experience their designer collaborations. Wait! There might be a glimmer of hope. I received this email below from Marie The Curvy Fashionista:
A few days ago, Patrice from Afrobella, Sarah from Style It Online, and myself, Marie The Curvy Fashionista were in chats on Twitter when we had an epiphany.
Each season Target fosters the most innovative and creative designer collaborations and almost never if ever includes their collections in plus sizes! After moments of gazing at fabulous garments- only not to be had in our sizes, Patrice, Sarah, and I decided to create an online petition AND open letters to Target on our sites. I mean, who doesn’t love Target? LOL Yes, we have Pure Energy, but what about all the fabulous designer collaborations that stop at a 13/15?
Starting tomorrow (Today), we will post, repost, share, and tweet our petition to Target, and I am reaching to you for your support (Read the petition below).
Each season, you skillfully and beautifully execute exclusive designer collaborations and partnerships with leading fashion designers. As plus size women, we are oft neglected, overlooked and always sized out of your collections.
We have money to spend as much as our straight sized sisters do. We love to look just as fabulous as the other Fashionistas, yet you neglect to even think of us in the equation. We fawn over the Zac Posen for Target, and strategically finagle through the cuts that could pass on our curves; salaciously we look as each fantastic and highly coveted collaboration passes us along- due to you ignoring our thirst and hunger for fashion.
Therefore, I, Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista, Patrice of Afrobella, and Sarah of Style It Online have come together with our followers and the fa(t)shionistas within the plus size community to request, demand, and call for an inclusion of and/or special designer collaborations for the plus size fa(t)shionistas.
Time flies in the world of fashion, it is now Milan Fashion Week and the Italians are rocking it!! Here are a few of the handbags from Gucci’s Spring 2011 collection. The braiding is exquisitely glamourous. I wouldn’t expect anything else from one of the world’s best luxury designers.
The first day of fall has come and is now gone, yet it was 80 degrees in L.A. today! What the? I want cold weather already! I’m dreaming of ponchos and capes. They not only make me feel all warm inside, but they look really comfy too! You know me and comfy!
Days 2 & 3 of Viva Fat Vegas were a lot of fun! Yes, there are more photos. And I know you’ve seen them on the other girls blogs, but now it’s my turn! Lol.
After our afternoon at Voluptuous we spent an evening with Sealed with a Kiss (SWAK) Designs. We were lucky enough to try on pieces from their fall line. We even had our own private fashion show. The pieces were beyond amazing. They were not only comfy but the cuts were flattering and accentuated our curves! There are tons of pictures below. SWAK gifted us a dress and I swooped up a red Giselle. It’s gorgeous!!
After our night of fashion, wine, and goodies we headed over to have lunch, courtesy of City Chic and Pambras, with Tina of Fully Chic and Rosie Mercado. We ate tapas and discussed plus size fashion, of course. Rosie even gave us a few items from her make-up line Bellisima. We took lots of pics…again.
Torrid was waiting for us after lunch. We arrived to an amazing selection of fall pieces. We shopped our hearts out! I picked up a pair of black boots that were $10 off. The girls did some major damage, trying on all of their favorites. Torrid even gave us a discount on our purchases…which was greatly appreciated.
The shopping at Torrid ended the Viva Fat Vegas weekend for Cid and I. We headed out after that. We were a little sad driving home, but we know we’ll see each other during FFF Week(end).
Listen up bargainistas! Style expert Alison Deyette, was on hand today at Marshalls for the “Behind the Seams” event. It was a chance for bloggers to learn why off-price retailers are the best way to shop for our fall must haves.
We all know that Marshalls and T.J. Maxx have designer items up to 60% off, but do you know how they are able to offer us those amazing prices?
According to Marshalls, their buyers negotiate better prices with vendors because department stores plan their inventories much lower, they overbuy and then cancel orders, or designers overproduce. All of these factors allow Marshalls and T.J. Maxx to offer the same merchandise at lower prices. They don’t advertise their designers or sales, which can also save money. And we love saving money!
We ended the session with Alison presenting us with a “7 Looks, One Week, One Store” fall challenge. We were gifted a $100 gift card and then we were asked to use that gift card to buy anything we wanted. Then we have to use those pieces to create 7 different looks to carry us throughout the week. We are allowed to use pieces from our own wardrobes as well. Here are the pieces I picked up today.
Now, this is important. The blogger who has the most comments by October 4th at 5 p.m. EST will win. This is where you, my amazing curvy readers, come in. If I win…you win! That’s right, the blog that wins will win a $100 gift card from Marshalls for one of my readers!! That means the gift card could be yours!!
At the end of 7 days, I will post the outfits below. All you have to do is leave a separate comment telling me what you think about each outfit. It’s open to U.S. residents only and if we win I will pick a winner using Random.org.
Remember, the more you comment, the more chances we have to win!
Day 2 of Viva Fat Vegas started out as we all headed over to Voluptuous Fashion Plus Boutique. We were in FATshion heaven! Once again, my photos of this event are on my cracked out lap top, but I do have a quick video tour of the boutique. I promise to add the photos as soon as I can get to them.
Update: I finally got my hands on my photos. There is a photo slide show below.
The owners of Voluptuous, Patty and her husband Juan, are amazing! Not only did they tell us all about the ins and outs of their boutique, but they also asked us what we thought about their clothes. They wanted to know our likes and dislikes. It was great to be able to give input and have someone actually listen.
The boutique is stocked up on jewelry and accessories. They even have a “celebrity” wall. We all had our Polaroids taken with the store owner Patty. We were even gifted a top, which you will see tomorrow. I’m not just saying this either, but they were really nice and they have the best customer service! That’s something they are really adamant about, which is so important. Oh…and their prices are really reasonable too! If you’re ever in Las Vegas, I would highly recommend visiting Voluptuous.
Below you’ll find a video…not the greatest video, but it’s a video. Lol.
