Do you have your staple brown satchel for the upcoming season yet? I promise this bag will go with a lot of your fall outfits. I don’t have one yet, but I am on the look out! This Sissi Rossi Medium Safety Pin Shoulder Bag looks like something I wouldn’t mind carrying. And I would if it didn’t cost $1,170.00 at Barneys New York! Check below for my bargain version.
The bargain version is very similar to the Sissi Rossi, but it’s A LOT cheaper. Try this Kirra Chase Satchel from PacSun.com for only $29.50. That’s more like it. Ahhhh…my budget feels safe again.
For those of you who haven’t heard, there is a great and amazingly awesome plus size blogger conference in Las Vegas on September 17-19, 2010. It’s called Viva Fat Vegas and today I got confirmation of another amazing event occurring while we are there.
“Queens of the Desert® is a sizzling fashion experience showcasing voracious, vivacious, and voluptuous ladies rocking the latest Las Vegas high end fashion trend. The fiercest, sexiest woman will rock the pages of this mind-blowing magazine feature, which is currently on the search for one lady who will represent Las Vegas plus-size fashion! Are you that luscious, voluptuous, fashion-savvy vixen?”
The winner will win a package worth $3000! You must be 18 years old or older, 5’6 and above, and a size (US) 14 and above. Do you have what it takes to be “Queen of the Desert?”
Torrid unveiled their sexy Halloween look book! The scenarios are cute. Hello male models! I think I’m loving the Pirate Wench, but I’d probably make myself a dead wench. Which costume is your favorite?
The ruffle top was extremely soft and comfy, but it was a little big on me. I usually wear a US size 18 and this was a Torrid size 2. I think the size 1 would have been perfect. I love the frills on the top, it added a very feminine touch to the outfit.
If you’re looking for a vintage inspired skinny jean, then you should really check these out. The denim is a great wash and I love the vintage touches. I was worried about the size when I was putting them on, I didn’t think they were going to fit. But, once I zipped them up, they fit like a glove. The jeans are made of this Virtual Stretch fabric, so they were very comfy. There are faux front pockets and I wish the waist was a little higher. But I loved how they fit me and I felt like they gave my butt some shape.
I didn’t want to over-accessorize because of the ruffles on the top, so I wore earrings my bff gave me and Unlisted wedges.
I’m curious if any of you have tried these jeans yet? How did you like them?
Here is your chance to win this NOW Limited Edition Garment from H&M. It’s a beautiful denim trapeze top I bought a few months ago, but never wore. The tags are still attached and everything! I’d rather give it to someone who I know will appreciate it, then return it. And besides you curvy ladies are awesome! The top is a US size 12, but I’m a size 18 and it’s still roomy on me. Sorry for the poor image quality, I have to send my camera in to get fixed. So, the Blackberry has to do.

I know the sun is blazing here in L.A., but I am still day dreaming about fall trends! We have seen this cascading trend already, but I don’t see it going anywhere just yet. This time it has hit our knits and jackets for the upcoming season. They are so easy to pair with your favorite tanks or tees. And it’s the perfect “go to” look with a pair of booties and jeggings. It definitely gives us that layered look we all love. I think I want them all! Why does that always happen?
InStyle Magazine asked celebrity stylist Nicole Chavez what every woman should have in their closet. According to Chavez, there are 10 key pieces every woman must have. I made this my curvy-bargain version.
I think I have maybe five of these items. Oh oh! Another reason to go shopping. What do think? Is the stylist on point?
Yesterday, my husband and I had the pleasure of being photographed for Cafe Latino Lifestyle Magazine by the talented Melissa Valladares. It’s a contemporary Latino magazine published in Chicago. I’ll tell you more about it when it’s published. I had no idea what to wear. I was stressing out and very nervous, but then I thought…I’m just going to be comfortable. So, this is what I wore. I love the detail on the back of the top. Oh, excuse my bangs, I’m having a love/hate relationship with them right now. They don’t like to cooperate. The shoot was fun and easy; Melissa was great! Love this girl!

Be bold! In your face! Popping with color! Nothing but fuchsia love for your lips!
Yes, I’ve lost it for the “right now” hot lipstick color! Pull out your fuchsia lipstick.
I was all over Target’s beauty section looking for the right shade. But, I was being really picky. And I’m allowed to be; it’s part of my beauty rights (I just made that up). I didn’t find what I was looking for, but today I’m heading to the drugstore on a fuchsia search.
Will you be part of the bold beauty babes and give fuchsia lipstick a try?
I was about to go to sleep, when I saw a link on twitter to these amazingly beautiful photos of the extraordinary Chenese Lewis and Whitney Thompson.
You might know Chenese as a model and the host of Plus Model Radio and Whitney as the first plus-size winner on America’s Next Top Model. They’ve come together nude to promote Hollywood NOW ‘Love Your Body Day’ in West Hollywood on October 22-24, 2010. Whitney is the celebrity host of this year’s events.
According to their web site:
“Love Your Body Day Weekend is an annual event where women of all sizes come together to celebrate self-acceptance and to promote positive body image.”
I will be there on behalf of L.A. Fatshion Bloggers, I hope to see you there!
One fall trend I am looking forward to wearing is any bag or shoe in gray suede. I’ve had my eye on this trend for a really long time. I love this look and I am currently on the hunt for a few items. I’d love to pair it with an all-black outfit. I can’t wait for this heat wave to be over! L.A. needs to cool down! I need fall weather here A.S.A.P!
I was very curious to try them out and after having them for a couple of weeks, I wore them. Yes, I was still fat after I put them on. They didn’t magically erase any pounds and I was still a size 18.
But, it did help because I was wearing a dress and I didn’t have to worry about the dreaded chub rub. I can’t stand that darn chub rub! Don’t get me wrong, I did notice I was wearing shape wear, but it wasn’t like I was instantly a straight size.
The underwear did smooth out the bumpy areas and I loved how they stayed put. No rolling down or creeping up here. And there were no panty lines; that’s always a bonus. I will wear them again, but only for those tight dresses.
So, to answer the great shape wear debate question…I can’t. It’s up to you and your personal preference. But, I would like to know what you think, anonymously of course. Take my little poll below.
