I don’t know how many times I’ve expressed my love for Anthropologie; only to be so disappointed with their lack of plus sizes. I am such a fan of the vintage and romantic vibe I get from their clothes, but I’m definitely not a fan of their prices. If you feel the same way I do, then you’re going to love the designs from Ruche! At first glance you think it’s just straight sizes, but they have a “Curvy Plus” section, sizes 1X-3X. Great romantic designs for a romantic dinner with the love of your life! I’m just sayin’!
Ok, I admit I’ve never worn their clothes, but I think I just might make a purchase to find out what the quality and fit is like. Oh…did I mention their price point is super reasonable? If you’ve purchased from Ruche please share!!
2011 has started off with a bang for me! How about you? We are five days into this new year and I’m wondering if you’ve stuck to any of your resolutions. Is saving money one of them? I’m with you on that one; that’s why this year will be all about shopping on a budget. I started that resolution a little early as I planned my New Year’s Eve trip to San Francisco. I found this amazing handbag over at Nordstrom for $28! I’m amazed by it’s quality and style! If you’re searching for a “Bag on a Budget,” take a look at these below. They are all under $40!
With only three days left until New Year’s Eve, I’ve been on the hunt for something to wear. I’ve purchased and returned like a mad woman. I’ve had a dress for a while that I was going to wear, but I tried it on the other night and it just didn’t look right. So, I headed out Sunday looking for an outfit. Isn’t that the story of my shopping life? I’m a last minute shopper.
Is being a last minute shopper smart? Yes and no.
Yes, because you’re forced to find something. No, because your choices are limited and you’re forced to find something. Now, try last minute shopping at malls that aren’t very curve-friendly and already ransacked. Over the last few days I’ve been looking over barely there racks. And when I did see something I like, they didn’t have it in my size. Ohhhhh…the drama.
But, low-and-behold I walk into Forever 21 today. It was the last store, before I gave up for the day. I’ve always been a fan of them, I just don’t know why I waited so long to look there! Of course, I fall for the first dress I see; the One Shoulder Glam Dress (below).
It sparkles more in person, I can’t wait to wear it! Now, I just have to find accessories for it. The shopping is never done!! I am thinking about wearing black opaque tights and black booties. Or should I go with black sequin pumps?
I love the recent arrival of the U.K. and Australian plus size fashion retailers coming to the U.S. I had the opportunity to review a few pieces from Simply Be a few months ago and I really loved the style and quality of the clothes. Tonight I just kinda peeked my head over there and I was reminded once again why I love them! If anyone cares, I want all of these pieces.

Whew! It’s Monday and I’m exhausted! Seriously! These girls (Reah, Denise, Marie, and Dawn) wore me out! LOL…well regardless I had an amazing weekend.
It all started with my friend Dawn coming over. We spent ALL day Saturday shopping. But, I didn’t really buy anything because the selection for curvy girls…well…there really wasn’t a selection.
I hate to complain, but this was just plain sad. Me…in a mall…and I only bought one thing? You might have read my tweets, but in case you didn’t I was very disappointed in the Macy’s at the Glendale Galleria. The woman’s department was on the third floor, stuck in the corner, under really bad lighting, and the so-called “selection” was definitely lacking.
I was shocked to find a navy blue Alfani top I liked, but I didn’t take an outfit pic. Sorry! Of course there was a Torrid and Lane Bryant…so no complaints there. But, nothing really caught my eye. After our shopping excursion, we heading out for a couple of drinks and dancing in Hollywood. It was fun! On Sunday, I had an amazing brunch with the hubby and Dawn. Then it was off to Target in West Hollywood, to be disappointed AGAIN! They only had 3 racks of plus sizes! Come on! Geez! I think I’m going to start boycotting some retailers until they realize the changes they need to make. Who’s with me?
Anywhoo…Sunday night I headed out to the lovely Chenese Lewis’ birthday party here in L.A. I love that lady…unfortunately I didn’t get a pic with the sparkling birthday girl. I did get to catch up with the girls and we had an amazing time. Everyone looked stunning, of course!
This was the outfit I was going to wear, but I changed my mind at the last minute.
But, can I just say that I LOVE the way this dress fits! It’s from Size Appeal (gifted) and it is an amazing body hugging and curve enhancing dress! I couldn’t help it…the leopard print had me!
I love the whole 80’s vibe I feel when I wear it. I bought this necklace from Target, the leggings are from Bali (gifted), and my shoes are by Jessica Simpson. You might have seen Stylish Curves wearing it. Two different looks, one amazing Size Appeal dress.
The dress retailed for under $40 and there are a lot more like it here.
Like I need another reason to sparkle…hee hee…sequins always seem to stand out during the fall and winter seasons. I love wearing them during the holidays and as you saw in the Evans video below Toccara loves them too! Don’t worry if you think they’re too dressy, most of the pieces below are paired with jeans. It’s a great way to add a little “ooh la la” to an outfit. I love the cardigan below. Which one is your favorite?
I love these shopping events, but there is something missing…plus size fashion! It’s so sad, because we were ready to spend money! It seems like all we can get at these events are jewelry, shoes, and accessories. Not complaining about that, but I would love to be able to buy clothing. Are you shopping event planners listening?
I took a test drive in the new 2011 Chevy Camaro and Cruz, and we got in on some yummy Carl’s Jr. courtesy of Chevy. We even got our hands on some swag! Gotta love that swag! It was a great evening. Just take a look at my pics below!
As you can tell, my brain never stops thinking about fashion! I’ve been craving a leopard print tote…bad! You’d really be surprised at the amount of super ridiculously expensive leopard print designer bags there are out there. As I was researching, I found some in the thousands! This M Z Wallace ‘Grace’ Tote is $425 at Nordstrom; not too bad compared to some of the others, but it’s still a “Bank Breaker” for me!
Now, take a look at the ‘SCHMUTZLER’ handbag from Aldo, which is on sale for $27.98! That’s a lot better for my budget! I think I’m ordering this bad boy!
What about you? Are you craving a leopard print tote?
