Are you the kind of lady that likes to make a fashion statement? You know…someone that stands out in a crowd? I know a few brave ones. I unfortunately am not that brave. I’m usually the one who has wishes she had the the guts to step outside of my comfort zone, when it comes to fashion. If you read my blog, then you know I’ve said this many times before.
For example, last week I was browsing around the Plus Size Fix web site and found a few daring pieces. I instantly thought to myself…”Cute, but I could never pull that off.” Have you ever felt that way? I think almost everyone has had one of those moments.
Take a look at some of the “stand out” pieces below…which one would you rock?
As part of Curves and Chaos going “PINK” for Breast Cancer Awareness month, I’m going to featuring brands and events that benefit the cause.
I actually got the email from Forever 21 last week about their support for the fight against breast cancer.
They have a special Pink is Courage collection, they will donate 10% of each item sold from that collection to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
I went in on Friday and bought the Strength French Terry Pullover $19.80. I can’t wait to wear it and show my support.
I love that they are offering these items in different sizes, especially in their plus collection. The entire Pink is Courage collection is priced $4.80-$29.80. I’m sad, I didn’t see that umbrella when I was in the store. Guess, I have to go back and get it.
Everyone’s favorite “go to” shopping site, Amazon.com has created MYHABIT. It’s one of the latest “membership-only” fashion sale sites.
And they just recently launched REAL by MYHABIT. It’s a series of online sale events offering women, sizes 14-24, the best designer and contemporary brands at up to 60% off.
The sales will last up to 4 days, unless they sell out (which can happen!). Today’s sales include dresses from Taylor Dress, denim from CJ by Cookie Johnson (some of my favorites are already sold out), and Z from Zenobia.
I’m loving the red blazer by Z from Zenobia. It’s originally $1,350 and is now $269!!
What I love most, besides the great prices, is that the site offers instant membership, free four day shipping, free returns (US orders only), and a flate rate $15 for priority international shipping.
The site is cool too with it’s 360-degree video of the clothes. That comes in handy, when you’re curious to see how an item fits.
So, check out REAL by MYHABIT and let me know what you think.
How many of you are scared of online shopping? Not sure if the styles will suit you? Or is putting together an outfit online a pain in the butt?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then you’re going to love this new online tool. Brought to you by Charming Shoppes, the Fashion Genius is here to the rescue.
In less than 3 minutes and with NO measurements required, Fashion Genius will identify your unique body shape & personal style preferences, and then match your style to the perfect bras, tops and pants … just right for you!
I will admit, I’m not a big fan of the term “flatter.” LOL. I’m more of an “enhance” kind of girl. But, that really doesn’t matter here. Because, when you take the survey and answer as truthfully as possible, you’ll get a lot of options.
You can take the survey on the Sonsi, Lane Bryant, Catherine’s, or Fashion Bug web site. Create, save, and share your outfits.
I was on one of my favorite shopping sites (of course) and I noticed a few dresses on sale at Nordstrom. These are casual dresses and they start at 50% off! I would like to go in the store and try them on, but my local Nordies doesn’t have a good Encore department. It’s all the way in the corner, like all the other plus departments. Sad isn’t it?
I’m digging the Suzi Chin for Maggie Boutique dresses!
Have you had a chance to visit Torrid’s Denim Boutique yet? If you haven’t, you’re really missing out. With their Buy One Get One 50% off, maybe you should head over now. There are so many great styles and colors to choose from too!
Take your pick from skinny, curvy, straight, slim, and bootcut.
I need to go shopping. Like, right now. I have this urge to go shopping so bad, but without $$$ all I can do is window shop on the internet. I’ve been eyeing ASOS Curve pants for a while now, especially the cropped pants. Why do they always have to have such great stuff when I’m broke? Grrrr…guess I’ll just look.
If you know ANYTHING about me, then you know I love a good sale. Here are a few I found. Of course as with all sales, some restrictions do apply. So, make sure you read the fine print. If I missed anything or if you know of another sale, please share with us! Pretty please!
What is a true fashionista? We all have our own definitions, but one word I always come to is “unlimited.” A true fashionista has no fashion limits. She will try on anything, regardless of the what the label says. “What? The label say’s it’s a large? So, what! I like it and I’m going to see if it fits.” Actually I know a few who don’t even look at sizes.
I thought of this yesterday, as I was shopping of course.
If you haven’t met my friend Ivory of the blog Ivory Jinelle, then you’re missing out. Not only is she a true fashionista, but she’s an awesome person to go shopping with (You’ll be seeing her a lot more around here). I love her outlook on fashion and her passion for not fitting the mold.
She’s one of the first curvy ladies, I met that didn’t “stay inside the lines.” When we go shopping, she goes straight to the ‘straight sizes.’ No pun intended. I’m always like…”Hey, the plus section is over here.”
Today, because of her and a few other curvy fashion inspirations online, I do not fear walking into the “straight sizes.” Actually it’s more of a personal challenge for me. As some of you might have read, for a long time, I was intimidated to walk into “straight size” stores or departments. Not anymore and for that I thank you…true fashionistas.
Here are a few straight size lines/brands that I’ve found. Make sure you try them on, some of their pieces are hit or miss. And remember I’m a size XXL or 16/18.
I’ve been looking for a magenta shoe and I’ve found it. Say hello to my new love affair. I really don’t need many words to describe the love for a shoe. It’s something you either understand or you don’t. And doesn’t a picture speak a thousand words? Just look at these gorgeous H by Halston pumps/wedges I bought at Baker’s yesterday. Yes, they were on sale. Sorry, they aren’t on the web site. I think I actually drooled when I saw the sole on these shoes.
Where are all my home shoppers at? Flip on the television and check out HSN and QVC for a few surprises. I just bought a pair of Levis Curve I.D. jeans on HSN, which I love! It was my first purchase with them, but with items like these, it won’t be my last. I’ve got my eye on these beauties below, especially that Nick Chavez set. I love that product!
What’s been your favorite item you’ve bought from QVC or HSN? Do you have any tips for us home shopping newbies?
It’s hard to believe Torrid is 10 years old. On Sunday night, I was invited to attend one of their birthday parties at the Brea, California store. After the mall closed, we were allowed in the store to shop, mingle, eat yummy mini-cupcakes, and take photos. There were raffles ( we didn’t win) and music (thanks DJ Dazzler). Ivory and I found a lot of things we loved, but I only bought two rings, which were “Buy One, Get 1/2 Off.” Can’t beat that deal. If you look at the photo below, you’ll see they even had live models on display in the windows. They were too cute!
I’ve been going to yard sales (a.k.a rummage sales and garage sales) since I was little kid and I’ve even hosted a few. And now that summer is almost here, there are going to be tons of them and I can’t wait. This morning I attended one held by Stylist Reah Norman. Now, if you’re going to attend a yard sale, you definitely want to go to one held by a stylist. Reah is a close friend of mine, so I made sure to go and support her. Oh…I also wanted to do some shopping. I walked out with three tops, a dress, a scarf, a bracelet, and a pair of shoes for $35! I was definitely a happy shopper.
After I left, I started thinking how awesome yard sales are. If you call yourself a bargainista and you’ve never been to one…well…let’s just say you’re not really a full fledged bargainista. LOL. Here are my reasons why you should love yard sales.
Low Low Prices-The whole idea of going to yard sales is to buy items at low prices. These are things the person hosting it doesn’t want anymore, so you might even have a chance to negotiate on prices as well.
You’re Going Green-When you buy an item, you’re saving it from going into the landfill. Therefore you’re reusing it and that makes the planet happy.
Vintage Finds-You never know what you’ll come across at yard sales, especially if it’s an estate sale. People have found unique and valuable items just by rummaging through boxes people pull out of their garages.
No Pressure-It’s all about leisurely shopping, just walking around and taking your time. And no one will make you feel bad if you leave without buying anything.
Happiness-You’re giving an article of clothing a second chance to make you look fashionable. And in the end, that leads to happy clothes and a happier you.
