In the world of shopping, I don’t think there is anything worse than falling in love with something and then finding out that it costs way more than what you can afford! Isn’t that the worse feeling? That’s why I love to research online and find items that not only standout, but are within my budget. Jewelry is one of those items I love to find for bargain prices. I hate to spend more than $25 for a piece of costume jewelry. Here are a few pieces I wouldn’t mind owning and are $25 & Under.
Days 2 & 3 of Viva Fat Vegas were a lot of fun! Yes, there are more photos. And I know you’ve seen them on the other girls blogs, but now it’s my turn! Lol.
After our afternoon at Voluptuous we spent an evening with Sealed with a Kiss (SWAK) Designs. We were lucky enough to try on pieces from their fall line. We even had our own private fashion show. The pieces were beyond amazing. They were not only comfy but the cuts were flattering and accentuated our curves! There are tons of pictures below. SWAK gifted us a dress and I swooped up a red Giselle. It’s gorgeous!!
After our night of fashion, wine, and goodies we headed over to have lunch, courtesy of City Chic and Pambras, with Tina of Fully Chic and Rosie Mercado. We ate tapas and discussed plus size fashion, of course. Rosie even gave us a few items from her make-up line Bellisima. We took lots of pics…again.
This is what I wore on Sunday
Torrid was waiting for us after lunch. We arrived to an amazing selection of fall pieces. We shopped our hearts out! I picked up a pair of black boots that were $10 off. The girls did some major damage, trying on all of their favorites. Torrid even gave us a discount on our purchases…which was greatly appreciated.
The shopping at Torrid ended the Viva Fat Vegas weekend for Cid and I. We headed out after that. We were a little sad driving home, but we know we’ll see each other during FFF Week(end).
Listen up bargainistas! Style expert Alison Deyette, was on hand today at Marshalls for the “Behind the Seams” event. It was a chance for bloggers to learn why off-price retailers are the best way to shop for our fall must haves.
We all know that Marshalls and T.J. Maxx have designer items up to 60% off, but do you know how they are able to offer us those amazing prices?
According to Marshalls, their buyers negotiate better prices with vendors because department stores plan their inventories much lower, they overbuy and then cancel orders, or designers overproduce. All of these factors allow Marshalls and T.J. Maxx to offer the same merchandise at lower prices. They don’t advertise their designers or sales, which can also save money. And we love saving money!
We ended the session with Alison presenting us with a “7 Looks, One Week, One Store” fall challenge. We were gifted a $100 gift card and then we were asked to use that gift card to buy anything we wanted. Then we have to use those pieces to create 7 different looks to carry us throughout the week. We are allowed to use pieces from our own wardrobes as well. Here are the pieces I picked up today.
Now, this is important. The blogger who has the most comments by October 4th at 5 p.m. EST will win. This is where you, my amazing curvy readers, come in. If I win…you win! That’s right, the blog that wins will win a $100 gift card from Marshalls for one of my readers!! That means the gift card could be yours!!
At the end of 7 days, I will post the outfits below. All you have to do is leave a separate comment telling me what you think about each outfit. It’s open to U.S. residents only and if we win I will pick a winner using Random.org.
Remember, the more you comment, the more chances we have to win!
My name is Monique and I wear t-shirts and sweats to bed. Yes, I know there is nothing wrong with that as long as I’m comfortable. But, today I determined I am ready to move out of my sleeepwear comfort zone. I’ve even noticed that when I go shopping, I never really shop for it and I don’t know why? Sleepwear is everywhere! And here’s the amazing thing about that..there are some really chic and comfy looking plus size pj’s out there! I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my sleepwear to lose it’s comfy appeal. I’m currently on the lookout for sleepwear like the pieces below.
Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly need another pair of shoes…I start craving a pair of snakeskin pumps. Man, I have shoe issues. I have my eye on these Dolce Vita Adra Peep-Toes, but unfortunately they cost $231.95. That’s beyond my budget at this point. Let’s see what the bargain pump can do for me.
Our day started at 11 a.m., with a meet and greet. There Cid of Cid’s Style File, Gabi of Hungry for Fashion, Laura of Creative Xicana and I met up and chatted a bit before we got our shop on! Everyone looked amazing. Yeah, I think we’re new best friends. Jenn, from Sketching Jenn, met up with us later. We grabbed our tote bags, courtesy of Torrid, and made our way to Lane Bryant…our first stop.
Cid and I surprised our L.A. Fatshion Bloggers and fatshion lovers with $20 gift cards, courtesy of Lane Bryant. I don’t think I’ve seen bigger smiles! As you can see in the photos below, we had way too much fun. The staff was so amazing and helpful and the store looked great.
I think we might have ransacked the store a bit…sorry! Most of us were obsessed with the same pieces too. We all tried on the Ponte Knit Zipper Trim Dress and the Sequin Lapel Sweater Vest. You’ll have to wait for the OOTD’s and the reviews to see who bought what! Even us bargainistas were in heaven with their sale selection. They even surprised us with a gift bag. Too awesome!
We ran passed the time we had allotted for shopping before lunch. What itinerary?
I am sad to say, I dropped my camera in Lane Bryant. Now, it won’t work. So the photos below are courtesy of me (prior to broken camera), Cid (the amazing), and my cell phone.
We squeezed in some time to browse at Torrid, but we vowed to head back after lunch! Did I mention we even received $50 gift cards to Romano’s Jewelers? It was shopping overload.
Lunch at Yen Sushi was beyond amazing! All I heard were ooh’s and aah’s as the servers brought our food. They were really nice and described each meal they placed before us. After the delicious lunch, they treated us to dessert and a tour of their karaoke rooms. Which were named after the most elite fashion houses! Chanel, Fendi, Prada, Gucci…etc. I know! Right? I am so heading back there for their grand opening.
After the amazing lunch at Yen Sushi, we vowed to walk of this meal and headed back out into the mall. This is where the girls did more damage at Forever 21 (as seen below), H&M, Mode Plus, and Old Navy.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun shopping! It’s so amazing to shop with gals that love the same things you do. We all got along fabulously and can’t wait until we meet up again for our next event. There’s a lot more shopping to do out there and I think we’re the right curvy ladies for the job!

Most of us dream of carrying a hot designer bag on our arm. But, what if you can’t afford one? I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford those high priced beauties. I get out there and find a designer-inspired handbag. I found this gorgeous Lanvin Amalia bag, but it’s going to cost you $3,105.00 at Barney’s New York. Now, that’s a “Bank Breaker!” Scroll down to find out where the “Bargain” bag comes from.
The “Bargain” bag is the Audrey Leatherette bag from Forever 21 and costs a whopping $22.80. It’s definitely inspired by Lanvin’s design with it’s quilted look, front pocket, and its chain and ribbon wrapped handle.
If there is one thing I love about shopping, it’s getting more bang for my buck. By this, I mean buying a lot of basics that I can rework into other outfits. I love this gray vest and simple black cotton dress. They can be worn with many different pieces that already exist in my bargainista wardrobe. You’ll probably be seeing a lot more of them. This entire outfit cost around $30. Yay bargains!! How many versatile pieces do you have in your closet?
