My New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 Favorites

Don’t be sad my loves…New York Fashion Week is over. Never mind the fact that 99.9% of the clothes on those runways will never be made in plus sizes. Just like anything in the fashion world, we can use those creations for our own inspiration. Below I’ve compiled a few of my favorite fall 2013 RTW looks that hit the runways over the last week. My NYFW Spring’13 Favorites

Take a deep breath…New York Fashion Week is finally over. I didn’t have the time, money, or energy to make it out there. But, I did keep up via one of my fave fashion sites Style.com. And although plus sizes were not represented on the runway, that doesn’t mean we can’t take inspiration from them…right? Read more

If you’re obsessed with New York Fashion Week, then you probably caught the Derek Lam show this past Sunday, September 9, 2012. His bold cuts, prints, and colors were complimented by the beauty of course. It was all courtesy of Estee Lauder for the sixth consecutive season.  Read more

The Lane Bryant “Revolution”

Where do I even start? First of all, I want to thank Lane Bryant for the VIP pass to The Curvy Revolution. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have had such an amazing experience.

On the final day of the convention, I finally ran into NettaP, one of my favorite bloggers. Love that girl!
Then after getting lost, I attended a Lane Bryant panel session with the VP of Marketing, Jay Dunn. It was a very informative look into the world of Lane Bryant. Mr. Dunn made sure to remind us that it’s not about age, but about your attitude. I love that philosophy especially when it comes to fashion. He gave us a few insights on keeping LB on trend, their models, and what is in store for them in the future.

After the session, I went to dinner with my girls and then I ran back to my hotel to get ready for the runway finale. I bought this grey draped dress with an embellished belt from Forever 21+. My earrings and ring were from Aldo Accessories, and I wore my black patent leather Jessica Simpson platform pumps.

I will admit, I showed up about 30 minutes late. But, I did have a chance to catch Bettie Page Clothing Always for Me, and Madame Couture before Lane Bryant hit the stage.

As I found a seat, I pulled out my camera, only to realize I left my batteries charging in my hotel room. I was so MAD! Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone to take photos. So, until LB releases their images, your stuck with cruddy cell phone images.

I was in awe of every confident curvy woman that came down the runway. Especially  my girls Griselangel and Allison!! There was such a range of body types as well, which I loved!

Although the first half of the finale was awesome, I was really looking forward to Lane Bryant’s finale. I found a seat next to Sara of Bombshell Beauty (who is awesome btw). We all sat there anxiously waiting for it to start. Little did we know, the stunning Ashley Graham would open the show. Take a look of the really poor quality video I took with my phone (below).

From the moment Ashley Graham opened the show it only got better. There were dancing cowboys, poodles, male dancers, and of course…fashion! I really want to “high-five” whoever styled the models. There was a mix of sportswear and intimates. I was having so much fun and before I knew it, Ashley (wearing a black leather studded bra and panty) closed the show with a shower of confetti. It was my favorite fashion moment to date.

After the runway show, I finally met Aimee and Erica from Madison Plus and I snapped a photo with Ashley Graham.

Then we made our way to the after party. I had a powerful conversation with Jay Dunn about LB using models who are size 16 and up. I hope my pleading made some kind of impression. I also had a chance to meet and chat with Robert Rutkauskas, senior Lane Bryant designer. I then introduced myself to a few of the LB models, including Lizzie Miller. The night is one I will remember for a very long time!

I will say this…beyond the “behind the scenes” drama (that is not worth putting on my blog) I was really glad to have met the Lane Bryant team and the City Chic team. And the time spent with my girls is worth so much more. Thank you to all who made this an amazing weekend!

Elena Miro Spring 2011 – Too Real for Milan?

It was a runway of curves at Elena Miro‘s Spring 2011 show. In stunning shades of gray, her models strutted their stuff during Milan’s Fashion Week. Yet, not a part of Milan’s Fashion Week. Kind of like One Stop Plus showed in New York during New York Fashion Week, but wasn’t a part of New York Fashion Week. Actually, just like that. In fact, according to many news sources, Miro was knocked off of Milan”s Fashion Week calender.

Why is the “fashion world” so afraid of women with real curves and real bodies?

NYFW Day 2 Recap

Jason Wu and Ports 1961 stole my heart on day 2 of New York’s Fashion Week. I am in love with these Spring 2011 collections. I didn’t want to bombard you with photos, so I only choose a few. The day was filled with feminine touches, flowing fabric, and abstract prints and cuts. Not bad day 2, let’s see what day 3 brings. Oh, btw…I can totally see most of these pieces on this curvy silhouette!

Which collection is your favorite so far?

New York Fashion Week Day 1 Recap

Day 1 of New York Fashion week has come and gone. I saw a lot of mixing of prints, clean lines, military inspired looks, romantic pieces and bare midriffs? Really? Bare midriffs? Oh well. Here are a “few” of the Spring 2011 pieces I liked. I’m not a professionally paid fashion critic but, I really had to look hard for these! Hopefully, day 2 will be more inspiring.
