It’s 2013, is name calling in magazines still happening? Yes…sigh…so there I was…chatting with some really nice woman on the plane. She offered me one of her magazines to read. I accepted, because I used to love this certain publication. As I was flipping through, I came across a “Sexy vs. Skanky” feature. I stopped and read it. The big bold print, bright colors, celebrity photos, and brazen headline grabbed my jet-lagged attention.
One thing I’ve learned in our plus size fashion community is that just because one of us falls in love with a trend doesn’t mean we all do. Mind boggling isn’t it? This past week I was reminded of that when I dismissed a horrible pair of printed pants only to find that everyone else loved them. Everyone thought they were Versace inspired…me on the other hand? I thought they were grapes.
Of all the current fashion trends, this is one I do not look forward to. I don’t care if it’s on straight or a plus size girl, I’m not a fan. The dreaded crop top is making a come back. I don’t know why, but I guess belly baring is not just for teens anymore. This Abby Cropped V-Neck from Alloy is currently sold out. What does that tell us?I’ve have seen some fashionistas wearing crop tops with short shorts on a few of the “street style” blogs, of course they are all skinny minnies. I haven’t seen any curvy girls wearing…
There is one thing I can’t stand! Being told what prints a curvy woman should and shouldn’t wear. I believe we can wear anything, as long as it’s in moderation. That goes for non-curvy women as well. I just wanted to get an idea of what you think. Please take a second to answer the poll. Thanks! As a curvy gal, what fashion prints do you try to stay away from?surveys
