I’m in the mood for love, romance, and all things Valentine’s Day. Yes, I’m a hopeless romantic. What are you going to do with this girl? I can’t help it—I have a big ol’ heart. I just love love. And it’s during this time of the year, we’re usually bombarded with all things red. Instead, I’m easily inspired by the soft hues of pink, mauve, ivory, and gold. Read more
When I look back and realize how far the plus-size fashion industry has come, I can’t help but think of those who fought and helped it evolve. Emme, known as the “first plus-size supermodel,” is one of those people. And she is far from finished. I don’t normally share interviews that I don’t do myself, but I felt like this is one you should read. She opens up about how she got started, her views on the plus-size fashion industry, and what she’s working on. Read more
It’s no secret that L.A. doesn’t really have crisp fall days or chilly winters. That’s why I can get away with dressing like this in the middle of December. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not really complaining…OK maybe just a little bit. I’m that girl who loves cold winter days. But, I also love being able to wear long kimonos with short dresses and ankle boots. Living Doll Los Angeles sent me their Breezy Kimono (sold out), which I was drooling over since the moment I laid eyes on it.
Did I ever tell you how important indie plus-size fashion designers are to this community? They bring creativity, quality, and detail to their collections that a lot of big brands sometimes miss. Not to mention blood, sweat, and tears. As you know, Elann Zelie of Zelie for She is a personal friend of mine. And she is so passionate about her line and creating stylish clothing for plus-size women. So, when she asked if I’d be interested in modeling a few of her pieces, of course I said yes!
This is my first holiday post and I’m so excited! Yes, I’m that person. You know this is my favorite time of the year. I’ve been snooping around online and I’ve spotted some holiday fashion trends. Five trends to be exact. And I’m going to share them with you over the next week. Let’s start it off with metallics. Read more
Let’s be honest here. I love wearing all black outfits. I do love other colors, but not as much. And since we’re being honest, I only wear bold prints every once in a while. I try to be adventurous, but sometimes I just love simple outfits. But, when Igigi reached out and asked if I’d like to try a dress from their latest collection, I stepped out of my comfort zone on purpose. Say hello to the Igigi Evelyn dress.
I’m happy to report that it’s finally starting to feel like sweater weather around here. You don’t even know how happy that makes me. I’m a huge fan of chilly weather. I know you East Coasters probably think I’m crazy, but when you live in L.A. it’s not something you’re used to. This gloomy day helped me realize that it’s time to stock up on cozy sweaters. Aren’t you sick and tired of people telling you what you shouldn’t wear as a plus-size woman? I know I am. There are a lot of fashion rules out there, but of course there are some that are specifically targeted to us. You may or may not follow them, and that’s up to you. Just so you know, I’m not following anyone’s fashion rules except my own. Read more
If you need to know anything about me, at this very moment, then you should know I’m obsessed with kimonos. Like…I want to wear them all of the time. In fact, I bought one yesterday. I’m a sucker for the flowy material and yummy prints. Are you with me? Do you love them too? I went snooping around online and found 16 plus-size kimonos that should be in my closet right now. The fall season never disappoints when it comes to prints. Well, at least that’s my opinion. I’m not one to over do it, but I do have a special place in my heart for those who can rock the fiercest prints and even mix them. I was doing a little online shopping and came across seven fall prints that caught my attention. Read more
You have to love resort collections. Geared towards the holiday (AKA vacationing during winter) woman—they’re more like pre-spring/summer collection. I always look at it like that’s what I can expect in the upcoming seasons. And that’s what we get here with the Carmakoma Resort 2015 collection. It’s very European chic…I love that! Read more
