The “Hi-Lo” or “High-Low” dress is kind of my latest obsession. With it’s high hem in the front and low hem in the back (hence the name), it’s really an eye-catching style. As you can see, they come in all kinds of colors and prints. You may eve find a skirt here or there. This really is a “love em’ or hate’em” kind of dress. So, what do you think?
Hey my loves…not sure if you’ve seen this yet, but here’s JIBRI’s Spring 2012 Collection. I will admit, I don’t own any of Jasmine’s designs, but my friend Ivory does and she LOVES the line. I’m actually eyeing that first skirt! So gorgeous! Her pieces don’t usually last very long, so if you see something you like…get on it! Check out the line here.
Update: I am now the proud owner of this skirt (below) LOL!
Torrid and I have been friends for a while now and I’ve noticed the trends come and go. One thing I’ve always loved about them is how they’ve always embraced the retro style. And all of the pieces above are perfect examples of that. I’m especially loving the dresses! Brands like Stop Staring and Queen of Heartz make chic pieces! Even the swimsuits are getting in on the action. Do you own any of their retro designs? Are you a retro kind of girl?
If you’re looking for a line with transitional pieces, going from fall to spring to summer, and are easy to layer then you really should check out Australian brands TS14+ and Virtu. Their January look books and style guides are filled to the brim with them. I’ve actually found a few things I wouldn’t mind owning. They’re all about making you feel good in the clothes you’re in. I can get with that!
The Queen Grace Signature Spring Collection is now available online! Loving the clean and classic cuts and designs. Big fan! They are available in different prints and vibrant colors. They’ve even extended their sizes up to a 26. And they are offering a 25% discount code QUEENIE25 for all shoppers and FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $100! My favorite, the Grace dress is included as well!
Yes! More outfits from my weekend at BlogHer. And these two are courtesy of one of my favorite brands, Torrid. They’ve really been stepping it up, in my opinion. Especially, in the quality department. And that’s something that goes a long way for me. If you’re going to spend the money, the piece has to last!
Here I am sitting with my partner in crime, Cid from Cid Style File. We practically hung out all weekend in San Diego. This is from one of the many parties we attended. I wore Torrid’s Leopard Mesh Maxi Dress and I felt very sexy in it. I even got a few compliments while I was dancing my butt off. I do wish it was a little longer, but I guess it’s better that way, so I wasn’t tripping over it.
On our last day at the conference, I wore Torrid’s Navy Embroidered Challis Tube Top. I was seriously expecting this to be a thinner top, with the design to be painted on. But, I was wrong. This top, made from rayon, had this amazing embroidery. I wore it with my Torrid skinny jeans.
One of the things I loved about both of these strapless pieces is that they didn’t fall down on me. That’s something I really appreciated. Especially, on a busy running around kind of day.
A big thank you to Torrid for the amazing pieces I wore to BlogHer.

Don’t mind the glare in my eyes, I was running out the door to an event. I did make sure to snap a photo of some pieces Torrid had sent me. Yes, I did get the package that day. Thank goodness, because I didn’t know what I was going to wear. And since this was a casual L.A. happy hour, I thought this would be perfect.
I’m wearing Torrid’s Feather Print Tube Top and Source of Wisdom Black Luxe Skinny Jean. The top is really light and has a little cinching under the bust, which I liked because it gave me some shape. I think the best thing was the fact that it didn’t fall down every second like some tube tops do. Now, the skinny jean is really soft and you know I love a stretchy jean. They aren’t heavy and thick like normal denim, which I appreciated, because it was pretty warm.
I kept the accessories simple with Bongo earrings from Kmart, bracelets bought at a yard sale, and a ring I got in Downtown L.A. for $1! My shoes are by Jefferey Campbell (Nordstrom Rack), I love the back of the heel. For some reason it makes me feel fierce!
Disclosure: I was gifted the clothing from Torrid and earrings from Kmart. This by no way affects my review. The above is my true and honest opinion.
If there’s a designer out there that knows a woman’s curves, it has to be Monif C. That’s why she was selected as Full Figure Fashion Week’s Plus Designer of the Year. Do I even need to give you another reason why? Just look at her designs, they speak for themselves. Besides, most of them are sold out. That should tell you something.
If you’re attending Full Figured Fashion Week, which I hope you are, you’ll be happy to know that the Monif C. boutique is located in New York City. You’ll actually get to see her famous convertible dress and amazing swimsuits up close. And you’ll know why they’re a curvy woman’s dream come true.
It’s about to get real classy up in here…make room for chiffon ladies. Chiffon is that material that was usually saved for special occassion dresses. Not anymore. I have seen this trend every where. And I really think any age or size can wear it in almost any color. There are so many different styles and it’s used different ways. Personally, I love when it’s used on the sleeves. Just so you know, I am literally lusting after #4 from Dorothy Perkins and if someone buys it before I do…I just might scream.
If there’s one color that compliments any skin tone, I’d have to say it’s coral. This mix between pink and orange is definitely a year-round color. ASOS knows that it is too. This is one of my favorite colors to wear. Just look at all the pieces below. I will admit, I want them all. When don’t I? Fashion is so addicting! LOL
I was once told, by a guy, that a woman’s shoulder’s are very sexy. I thought about what he told me, when I started noticing off-the-shoulder tops. I’m going to be honest, I’ve never been a fan of them, but these are kind of changing my mind. With or without the straps. I can see myself wearing a top like this with a pair of skinny jeans or capris. I don’t know which one I like the best, it’s too hard to choose just one!
I was looking over some old outfit posts and I couldn’t help but notice how my style has evolved. I don’t follow any “rules” and I dress regardless of what people think. It’s how I feel in a garment that dictates my mood. For example, this Lovedrobe Crochet Neck Dress (£38.00) made me feel very flirty. Not that I was, but you know what I mean (LOL). The dress was a little too short for me, so I wore my Bali leggings underneath. My hubby was happy about that. I chose my trusty Nine West heels to wear out that night. And I accessorized with a beautiful ring from Avenue and my Lane Bryant bracelets.
This dress got me so many compliments! I love the ruffle hem and the crocheted neck. Two distinct design features that you wouldn’t normally think go together. And the crochet goes all the way around, while the ruffle hem is just in the front. The dress does have a tie in the back so you can adjust it and a black slip underneath the dress, so it’s not see through. I did get a size bigger than what I normally wear, bit it didn’t make too much of a difference, I just adjusted the tie in the back and I was set. Love it!
Lovedrobe is a UK plus size clothing line and as of now you can find it on Style369.com. You should definitely check them out if you haven’t already.
Would you wear this dress?
