Spring Break Style with AVA & VIV

This post is sponsored by Target.

I’ll admit that swimsuit shopping isn’t normally one of my favorite things to do. I know I’m not alone either. But, don’t worry my loves it’s not as bad as we once thought it was. I’m super determined to conquer it! I headed over to Target to check out the new AVA & VIV swimwear collection and to find a few spring break worthy pieces. Read more

An Afternoon with Maurices

When I first started this blog in 2008, I remember searching online for plus size brands to feature or shop from. That’s when I found Maurices, a fashion retailer specializing in women’s fashion in a range of sizes. Back then, they had a very small plus size collection. Today, they offer so many more options, including activewear and swimwear. They recently invited me to attend a spring event they were hosting in Downtown L.A., of course I had to go! Read more

Curvy Girl Travels / Packing for L.A.

It’s no secret that I love to travel. Just check out my #CurvyGirlTravels hash tag on Instagram or Twitter and see where I’ve been. I’m always at some blogger event. For example, next week, is the inaugural We All Grow Summit and I’m so honored to be speaking on a panel. But, there will be no traveling for me! Because it’s based here in Los Angeles! The lovely ladies over #WeAllGrow asked me to put together some tips on packing for The City of Angels. Read more

Love, Lust, and Simply Be

A few month’s ago, I found this really fun Jonathan Adler pouch. The minute I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. I bought it and then I kind of forgot all about it. It basically got lost in the abyss that is my room. Then, as if it was meant to be, it turned up—a week before Valentine’s Day. I knew I had to take it out to play before the official day of love. Celebrating 5 Years My Way! (Closed)

Curves and Chaos is officially 5 (insert confetti, champagne, and balloons here)! 2010 seems just like yesterday. Doesn’t it? I want to say time flies when you’re having fun, but I don’t think that phrase will work here. This Curves and Chaos journey has been so much more than “fun.” If you would’ve told me then, what I know today—I would have never believed you. Mixing Prints (With a Little Help)

We all know I’m not the boldest one in the room. But, that’s definitely something I’m working on. And I couldn’t do it with a little help from my friends. It’s a good idea to have some amazing supporters on your side, who are well-versed in creating their own personal style. So, when I have an event to attend, need last-minute styling advice, and am considering mixing prints—who did I call? Read more

Breezy in L.A.

It’s no secret that L.A. doesn’t really have crisp fall days or chilly winters. That’s why I can get away with dressing like this in the middle of December. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not really complaining…OK maybe just a little bit. I’m that girl who loves cold winter days. But, I also love being able to wear long kimonos with short  dresses and ankle boots. Living Doll Los Angeles sent me their Breezy Kimono (sold out), which I was drooling over since the moment I laid eyes on it.

Sparkling Latin Grammy Style

I consider myself a denim kind of lady—wearing it all of the time. Truth is, I don’t wear dresses very often. But, when L’Oreal Paris invited me to attend the Latin Grammys in Las Vegas, I made sure to find one that added some much needed sparkle. I had a few outfits ideas in mind for the biggest night in Latin music. It was this look that made the cut!

An Adventure in Prints

Let’s be honest here. I love wearing all black outfits. I do love other colors, but not as much. And since we’re being honest, I only wear bold prints every once in a while. I try to be adventurous, but sometimes I just love simple outfits. But, when Igigi reached out and asked if I’d like to try a dress from their latest collection, I stepped out of my comfort zone on purpose. Say hello to the Igigi Evelyn dress.

Love is in the Air

A few months ago, when I attended the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Super Saturday event, I was really happy to see that Rachel Pally was there supporting the cause. I was even more excited when I saw that she was selling pieces from her White Label Collection—Rachel Pally plus size line. I was immediately drawn to this dress. I thought, “this would be perfect for an outdoor wedding.” And I was right, this dress was perfect for my sister-in-laws beach-themed wedding.  Read more

Life Changer (OOTD)

Have you ever had one of those days you were unsure of? One where you didn’t know how it was going to end. You hope for a just a good day, but by the time you lay down to go to sleep you realize it was life altering. That was the kind of day I had yesterday. It all started with a Latina Brunch at the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Annual Conference. I was invited as a Toyota Latino Ambassador. The brunch, which included Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, was beyond inspiring, motivating, and all of the above. Read more
