As you can tell I’m in an animal print kind of mood, makes me feel a little feisty! Saturday night we were invited out for a birthday dinner in Downtown L.A. and I couldn’t throw this dress on fast enough. The Natural Leopard Surplice Chalice dress (courtesy of Torrid) was a perfect pick for our night out. It’s a great alternative for the normal jeans and top combo. It fit me really well, but as you can tell I did have to put a tank underneath so I didn’t show all the goods. I don’t think the hubby would of liked that. LOL! I really liked the length and how it hit right at the top of the knee. I’m 5’6, a size 16, and this dress is a Torrid’s size 1. And like always, I kept the styling simple, because it’s a bolder print. How would you have worn this dress?
I’m really not trying to brag…OK maybe just a little, but the weather here in Los Angeles was amazing this weekend! Saturday morning, I had some errands to run, but I didn’t want to just throw on anything. I wanted to wear something fun but comfy. I decided on this Pink Leopard Callie Off-Shoulder Tee by Twist Tees and these Light Blue Rolled Cuff Straight Jeans, both courtesy of Torrid.
I love this top! When I saw it, I knew I had to try it. It really is a twist on the popular leopard print. And I felt a little sexy with the whole shoulder showing. Grrr…The jeans fit like a glove…literally and I liked that. I always have a problem with jeans fitting me correctly. I’ve figured out I need to stick to a straight cut, they just fit better. I love the cuff, it’s like they’re a capri, but they’re not. Oh…and I kept my styling pretty simple. My shoes are an old pair from Charlotte Russe…I think. My mom bought them. Don’t mind my hair by the way, it’s getting way to long for my liking thus causing major bad hair days. Oh well…my weekend was amazing anyways!
What did you wear this weekend?
The day of the 365Hangers Style-A-Thon crept up on me. It was like one day they asked me to be a part of it and the next day it was here. I had already planned an outfit out in my head a week in advance, but then I was notified that the weather was going to be kinda cruddy. Yes, we do get cruddy weather here in Los Angeles. So, the outfit I had planned was out the window. Thank goodness Torrid had sent me a few pieces the day before! Phew!
I wore this beautiful Teal Chiffon with Embroidered Trim Kimono and Tripp NYC Black Skinny Pant both from Torrid. I paired it with my favorite Steve Madden platforms, a tank from H&M, and a necklace from Forever 21. I will tell you the skinny jeans are a little low on the waist, not my favorite, but they were fine. And I couldn’t help but feel nice and bright because of the color of my top. I can’t wait to figure out what other ways I can wear it!
I’ve been to a few professional basketball games and with each one, I’m always worried and wondering what I should wear. I want to be comfy, but I don’t want to look “blah!” Ya know? Last week, I was invited to a game and I knew this Nation LTD Long Knit Wrap would be perfect. But, it was a little too casual looking for me. So, I threw this scarf on. You can see how it shimmers, although it looks better in person. I had booties on, but changed into my boots at the last second. I did not want to worry about aching feet that night.
(Oh and excuse the hair and crazy face…I took these at the end of my night. My head was pounding at this point.)
The Nation LTD Long Knit Wrap is amazingly comfy (of course it is). It’s very soft and light-a perfect spring wrap. It could even be a great piece during those summer evenings. I can see myself wearing it a lot and because of the length it’s so versatile. I can throw it on with a dress or even belt it. Lots of options!
How would you wear this wrap?
Once upon a time…there was a girl who wished she could dress comfy, but attempt to be chic at the same time. Was it possible? At that time the famous brands who made the ideal basics didn’t make her size. That made her very unhappy. Little did she know, as time went on, those brands would start to get it. We want to look “comfortably chic” too!
Then one day it happened…she came across Nation LTD by Jen Menchaca. The next thing she knew…she was in love with not only their fit, but the softness of their material. If you can’t tell (LOL), that girl is me. And here I am wearing their “Oregon Tee!” If you can’t tell, it drapes but, is fitted in the arms. I loved that!
My mom decided to surprise me on Sunday morning with a visit. I knew I wanted to be super comfy that day, so I wore this outfit. I’m bummed I forgot to add my necklace. It’s missing. Booooo! Besides that, I paired the tee with my Torrid skinny jeans and these Boutique 9 Gilla sandals I snagged on Hautelook. My jewelry is from Lane Bryant. I’m loving these earrings! I have no idea why my eyes are closed! LOL!
All in all, it was an amazing “comfortably chic” day! You can find Nation LTD at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and select boutiques. If you haven’t already, take a second to check out their line. It’s filled with basics and stylish seasonal pieces. And it’s often worn by celebrities. Do you own any pieces? What do you think?
Let me start off by saying that I chose Torrid’s White Crochet Fringe Poncho (on sale now), because it’s not something that I would normally wear. Remember that whole “trying to more adventurous” New Year’s resolution? I thought it was cute and very boho chic. And I thought I’d try it. Even when I put it on I was still unsure. You ladies know how that is right? But, I kept it on and I’m glad I did. It was a nice Spring outfit.
I’m not happy with the angle of the photo, it doesn’t show the true length of the fringe and how the poncho sits. I wore it with Torrid’s Sophia denim and the Archer Sandal from Dolce Vita. I found the earrings at a small boutique in Las Vegas. What do you think?
Would you wear Torrid’s Crochet Fringe Poncho?
Guess who overpacked for MAGIC? I told my hubby it was a good thing I wasn’t flying because I would have been paying for that extra weight. LOL! Have you ever done that? Overpacked, but hated almost everything in your suitcase? That was definitely me.
So, what does any girl do when they don’t like their clothes? Go shopping of course. I stopped by the outlets on my way to Las Vegas and bought this beautiful asymmetrical BCBG Max Azria sweater. Thanks for convincing me Ivory! LOL! She’s always right. I wore it on the first day of MAGIC. Later that night, we decided to dress up a bit to go out. I wore this purple off the shoulder sweater dress, with these BCBG Max Azria ankle boots I snatched up on Ideeli.com. Love that web site! I just might have a thing for BCBG!
On Valentine’s Day, I wanted to commemorate the holiday with this heart sweater from Forever 21. I know…I’m corny like that. I was missing my hubby. I wore it with a pair of black Mossimo skinny jeans from Target. They really stretched out by the end of the night. Be careful if you buy them. I’d go a size smaller.
Now it’s time for the fun part of traveling…unpacking. Ugh!
Sweater: BCBG Max Azria. Denim: Torrid. Boots: Dollhouse.
Sweater: Forever 21
Dress: purchased at the Curvy Girl Closet Raid. Necklace: Forever 21. Ring: Torrid. Bracelets: Lane Bryant. Leggings: Bali. Ankle Boots: BCBG Max Azria.
Look mom, I’m wearing a floral print! LOL! I don’t think I’ve worn anything like this in years. Seriously, in a very long time. Watch out people!
The minute I saw the Ditsy Chiffon Dress on Torrid.com, I had to try it. This is a fun and feminine dress without showing too much. The sleeves are sheer and the length is perfect for me. It did show a little too much cleavage for my liking, so I added a black camisole underneath. It comes with a skinny patent leather black belt. I paired the dress with Torrid’s Black Opaque Tights. I’m wearing the size 1/2 and there is no tummy control in these, if you were wondering.
I wore this to an event and was complimented instantly. I was comfortable all night and almost didn’t want to take it off. If you’re trying to figure out what to wear on your casual Valentine’s dinner date, this may be the dress for you!
Oh yeah…yesterday was the Super Bowl. It matters if you’re team was playing. Mine wasn’t…blah. Don’t get me started. Next year my Denver Broncos will dominate…just you wait. Anyways…if I didn’t already lose you, this is what I decided to wear for this eventful Sunday.
We spent the day at the in-laws eating way too much. I knew this was going to happen, so I wanted to be super comfy. That’s where this printed Rachel Pally top came in (no longer available). I bought this at my second warehouse sale and it’s so comfy. It can also be worn as a tunic with leggings and it’s from the straight size collection. I was instantly in love with the colors and print. My jeans are from Levi’s Curve ID line. I’m a “Demi Curve” by-the-way. They are probably my favorite pair of jeans. They just fit me. Period.
I snagged up these sandals on Hautelook, from Nine West’s line Boutique 9. Got them for an amazing deal! Love amazing deals…just like these $1 earrings I got in downtown. Yay me!
What did you wear on Super Bowl Sunday?
Wow what a day…I spent the entire afternoon in Downtown L.A. learning about the art, music, and history of Los Angeles. I kind of felt like a tourist in my own city. It was an amazingly beautiful day. The top is by Inspired and my boots are Dollhouse. I’m wearing Torrid’s Sophia Blue Rinsed Skinny Jeans. They fit perfectly and I love that the waist is the right cut. I’m definitely not a low cut kind of girl. Do you prefer a certain cut over the other?
I had an opportunity to hang out with some of my girls this weekend. After a long day, I didn’t want to wear anything too complicated, but I didn’t want to wear sweats out either. I decided to go with this beautiful Blue Crepe Lattice Cold-Shoulder from Torrid. I even threw my hair up in a high bun.
I love the top, but after looking at these images, I feel like I should’ve chosen a smaller size. It’s supposed to have a flowy fit, but I think it’s a little too much for my shape. Now, this is something I’ve only recently noticed. I tend to buy clothes that are a little too big for me. I don’t know if it’s a mental thing, maybe my perception of myself is skewed. I’m in-between sizes, so if I go down a size it might be a little tighter, but if I go up a size it’s a little big. I always end up going bigger. That needs to change.
Regardless, it’s extremely comfy and the color pops. Loving this blue right now and the shoulders are so sexy! If you also notice, I should have paired this with more form fitting denim. It’s crazy because it looked fine in the mirror, but the images are bugging me. LOL!
Whatever…there’s nothing like a well-deserved lesson in fashion. Earrings are from Target, bracelets are from Lane Bryant, shoes are Steve Madden, and denim is from Torrid.
When I was in elementary school, I was in cheerleading and we put together a dance routine to “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa. So innapropriate, I know! LOL! I’ve loved them ever since. Last night, I had the opportunity to attend a launch party for McDonald’s new Chicken McBites and guess who was performing? Yes!! Salt-N-Pepa!! I was too excited!!
I didn’t know what to wear, then I remembered I had this jumpsuit from Torrid in my closet (not available). I threw on these heavy earrings from Forever21, ring from Torrid, and clutch from Dama Handbags. It was an awesome night. I even recorded a performance of “What a Man.” It’s at the end of the post. Are you a Salt-N-Pepa fan?
