I just wanted to share a quick outfit post of what I wore to Sonsi’s “Be-YOU-tiful” Pop-Up Party. I wore this fun poncho top from H&M, pencil skirt from Forever 21 Plus Sizes, Sandals by Steve Madden, and necklace is also from Forever 21. I’m all about pencil skirts right now too!
You’ll probably see me wearing these sandals a lot! The leather is super soft and they were pretty comfy. And this is a better picture of my newly cropped hair! What do you think? I kind of want to add my bangs back…yes or no?
You’ll have to excuse these photos, LOL! I took these bad boys at the end of the night. I was tired and my clothes were a little wrinkled. Anyways…as you may or may have not known…I was having a very hard time finding my “all white” outfit for the “Curves at Sea” cruise. I was trying to find something that no one else would be wearing. It was so hard! As plus size girls…and as most of you will agree…we don’t have as many fashion options.
I wanted to wear something comfortable, I learned my lesson from last year. Monique in a dress and heels on a rocky boat…no bueno.
At the last minute, I found this fun BCBG Max Azria tank with attached necklace at Nordstrom Rack and the cropped white skinnies are from Target. My shoes (that I adore) are from Aldo. The best part is, no one was wearing my outfit! Mission accomplished.
And YES as you can see…I chopped my hair off! 12-inches!! It’s so nice and refreshing for summer! What do you think?
Disclosure: I was an official member of the 2012 Full Figured Fashion Week’s Fashion Front. I received a gift bag and complimentary access in to all events.
Hello my loves! I hope you’re having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! I wanted to take a second to share something with you. As some of you might know, I was selected as one of 70 top Latina bloggers to attend a conference in Washington D.C. A big thank you to Latinos in Social Media for this amazing opportunity. While I was there, I was given a makeover by Mary Kay. We took photos all over the city. When I get those photos, I will definitely share them with you. Super excited to see them!
We also had a chance to attend a special briefing at The White House! I think this may have been the first time a large group of bloggers were extended an exclusive invite to talk about topics that affect our community. It was very surreal.
I didn’t get to take many photos of myself that day, I was too busy being a photographer! LOL! I did have someone snap a few pics of me in my outfit. I wore this black dress I was gifted last year from Julia of Buxom Chick, a black IGIGI cardigan, and Bandolino pumps. I didn’t know what to wear, this was kind of a last minute outfit. I was trying to be as conservative as possible! LOL!
The minute I was asked to review a dress from IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel I immediately said yes! I’m a big fan of her designs and was very interested in seeing how her clothes fit. I chose the Diana Infinity Dress in Multi ($165) because of the cool python-like print. And I’m all for a piece of clothing that gives you different options.
I decided to wear it to the opening night reception of my blogger retreat and a lot of my friends loved it! I chose to wear it as a one-sleeved dress. I’m wearing the size 14/16 here and it fit comfortably (I wear a size 16/18 and I’m 5’6). I can see it fitting different body types. The material is light and it comes with a shorter rayon slip to wear underneath. And I had it packed in my suitcase for a while it never once wrinkled! I’m looking forward to wearing it in the other styles and I know I’ll be able to wear it casually too. I’ve definitely become an IGIGI fan!
Starting Friday, May 25, 2012 12:00 PM/PST until Tuesday, May 29, 2012 12:00 PM/PST you can get 30%OFF select category products using code “MEMORIAL2012″ visit http://www.igigi.com/memorial-day-sale
Are you an IGIGI fan? What do you love about her designs?
Here are a few photos from the morning of my Mary Kay makeover in Washington D.C.
Last night was my first night here in Washington D.C. I’m in town for a Latina blogger retreat and I feel like I’ve been going non-stop! Thank goodness we had some free time last night to enjoy dinner at Cuba Libre. It’s a really cool restaurant and the food was yummy! I heard it was one of the hottest places here, so I decided to wear this cute shift dress from H&M’s plus line. My shoes are Steve Madden and the necklace is from Ashley Stewart. It was the perfect outfit for a night out!!
For those who don’t know, I try to be very involved in the Latina blogging community. I’m very proud of my heritage. I also run a directory of Latina bloggers at www.BlogsbyLatinas.com and a Facebook group for Latina bloggers who live in the Los Angeles area. Last night, along with Ford (thank you!), we hosted a networking event at Beso in Hollywood. If you haven’t been there, you really need to go! It’s so beautiful!! Sorry about the quality of the images, but I didn’t want to use the bright flash.
I decided to wear this halter linen dress that my mom bought for me a looooong time ago from Forever 21. My shoes are my oldie but goodies Nine West and the jewelry is Forever 21, Nordstrom, and Lane Bryant.
I also wanted to send a THANK YOU to the following beauty brands who provided product for the mini-beauty bags I handed out. They were a huge hit!
Just so you ladies know, I’m making huuuuuge strides (no pun intended) when it comes to wearing prints. Especially floral prints and bright colors. Yesterday, I attended an event (post coming soon) and I decided to wear this floral H&M pencil skirt that’s been sitting in my closet for a few weeks. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it and I had to buy it. You’ve probably seen it on some other bloggers…cause it’s beautiful!
I’m a size 16 and this is a size large. It fits comfortably (material has stretch) and I adore it. It has an exposed zipper in the back that I also love. I wore it with an H&M tank (also a large) and my Dolce Vita sandals. I like this tank, but it’s a little low in the back, showing my bra strap F.Y.I. The necklace is Forever 21 and the sun glasses are Warby Parker.
There’s one great thing about a basic denim top, you can wear it a lot of different ways. Seriously, Google “how to wear a denim shirt.” You’ll find tons of examples. And I hope to be able to show you a few myself. For this post, I decided on a really casual and relaxed look. One that can be dressed up a little with shoes and accessories.
I’m wearing Lands End’s long sleeve denim shirt ($45). With a black camisole and black skinny jeans. Very basic. The shirt is not tapered as much as I would like it to be, but I can probably get it altered for my future outfits. I decided on this bronze tribal necklace from Forever 21 and my shoes are BCBGeneration (older). I’m already trying to think of how I’ll wear this shirt next.
I’ve had this beautiful Rachel Pally skirt sitting in my closet for a while now, trying to figure out how or what to wear it with. And this is what I came up with on Easter Sunday. The minute I saw this print I knew I had to have it. You all know her sizes are a little generous, this is a size large in her straight size collection. The skirt is compliments of Rachel Pally herself. I met her at her last sample sale and introduced myself. She was so so nice and gracious!
Excuse my face in these photos. The sun was in my eyes and my hubby was not in a photographer kind of mood. So, I made sure he took them really quick. Ahhhh…married life. LOL!
Anyways, I felt very tribal in this look. This skirt is amazingly comfy. I tried to find it on her site, but it’s no longer available. You might be able to find it at her sample sale this weekend, for you L.A. people. I paired it with this tank top from Target and my new Naya Palomi sandals. The earrings are from Forever 21 and I’m wearing assorted bracelets. It was a very “barbecue on a warm sunny day” friendly outfit. I love living in L.A.!
As you can tell I’m in an animal print kind of mood, makes me feel a little feisty! Saturday night we were invited out for a birthday dinner in Downtown L.A. and I couldn’t throw this dress on fast enough. The Natural Leopard Surplice Chalice dress (courtesy of Torrid) was a perfect pick for our night out. It’s a great alternative for the normal jeans and top combo. It fit me really well, but as you can tell I did have to put a tank underneath so I didn’t show all the goods. I don’t think the hubby would of liked that. LOL! I really liked the length and how it hit right at the top of the knee. I’m 5’6, a size 16, and this dress is a Torrid’s size 1. And like always, I kept the styling simple, because it’s a bolder print. How would you have worn this dress?
I love this top! When I saw it, I knew I had to try it. It really is a twist on the popular leopard print. And I felt a little sexy with the whole shoulder showing. Grrr…The jeans fit like a glove…literally and I liked that. I always have a problem with jeans fitting me correctly. I’ve figured out I need to stick to a straight cut, they just fit better. I love the cuff, it’s like they’re a capri, but they’re not. Oh…and I kept my styling pretty simple. My shoes are an old pair from Charlotte Russe…I think. My mom bought them. Don’t mind my hair by the way, it’s getting way to long for my liking thus causing major bad hair days. Oh well…my weekend was amazing anyways!
The day of the 365Hangers Style-A-Thon crept up on me. It was like one day they asked me to be a part of it and the next day it was here. I had already planned an outfit out in my head a week in advance, but then I was notified that the weather was going to be kinda cruddy. Yes, we do get cruddy weather here in Los Angeles. So, the outfit I had planned was out the window. Thank goodness Torrid had sent me a few pieces the day before! Phew!
I wore this beautiful Teal Chiffon with Embroidered Trim Kimono and Tripp NYC Black Skinny Pant both from Torrid. I paired it with my favorite Steve Madden platforms, a tank from H&M, and a necklace from Forever 21. I will tell you the skinny jeans are a little low on the waist, not my favorite, but they were fine. And I couldn’t help but feel nice and bright because of the color of my top. I can’t wait to figure out what other ways I can wear it!
