The minute I saw City Chic’s Pretty Frilly Chiffon Dress I knew it was destined to be mine. This is what I wore on Mother’s Day. I was a little surprised when I got the dress, because it looks white on their web site, it’s actually an ivory color. It fit great and it was really comfortable. The ruffles on the chest are so cute! I did change the patent leather belt out. I wore this Betsey Johnson belt instead. This photo was taken at the end of the day. I didn’t realize how white my legs are, I need a tan. I hope I didn’t blind you. LOL.
Disclosure: the dress was courtesy of City Chic. The above is my true and honest opinion.
This may surprise you, but I used to hate wearing bright colors. OK, you might have heard me say that before. But, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I’m still on the fence about bright colors, but one of my shopping partners in crime is slowly getting me out of my “dark clothes comfort zone.” On a side note…I just went back and took a look at my old outfit post and I wore a lot of grey and black! Today, you are my witness as I vow to start wearing more color!! Yes, you heard it here first.
Thanks to WomanWithin.com for this Modern Fit Cardigan Sweater in pretty peach. I’ve had it in my closet for a few weeks; and because of L.A.’s recent cool weather I decided to wear it. The thing I love most about cardigans like this is that they never go out of style and can be worn so many ways. I know this is a very casual outfit, but I wanted to be comfy. So, I wore a basic Old Navy tank underneath, my City Chic jeans, Forever 21 jewelery, and these pewter gladiator sandals from Avenue. I know they look a little strange, but that’s what I love about them. I’m slowly coming out of my comfort zone, one bright color at a time.
Do you ever have those days where just don’t want to get out of bed and get dressed? That was me on Saturday. It’s been a little gloomy here in L.A., maybe that’s why.
Good thing I got my butt out of bed, I was invited to the P&G Orgullosa de mi Belleza (Proud of my Beauty) event at the Sunset Tower Hotel. It was such a great afternoon of pampering.
I got my hair and make up done with Pantene and CoverGirl products. Then I had a hand massage with Oil of Olay body lotion and a neck massage. I was in heaven.
I also had a chance to meet Celebrity Makeup Artist Rebecca Restrepo. She gave me some tips on how to create a cat eye, without struggling (LOL). We even walked out with a gift bag full of P&G goodies!
The outfit I wore was just thrown together at the last minute. The cardigan is from H&M, the navy top is from Macy’s, jeans are Levi’s Curve I.D. straight leg from HSN, my shoes are Kensie’s, my jewelery is from Lane Bryant, and the handbag is courtesy of Shoedazzle.com.
Disclaimer: Entry to the event was free along with the products. The above is my true and honest opinion.
I’ve already told you I’m obsessed with maxi dresses this season. And this one from City Chic is no exception. I wore this at the opening of the About Face exhibit and I never felt more sexy. Seriously, it’s a va-va-voom dress in the chest area. Meaning, it showed a lot of cleavage. LOL. The dress is no longer available on CityChicOnline.com. Sorry, but there are tons of other pretty dresses. I paired it with gold earrings, a black cascading cardigan, Nine West open-toed pumps, and my new fave Melie Bianco clutch. I wore the dress again on my birthday and I can’t wait to wear it again.

I was looking over some old outfit posts and I couldn’t help but notice how my style has evolved. I don’t follow any “rules” and I dress regardless of what people think. It’s how I feel in a garment that dictates my mood. For example, this Lovedrobe Crochet Neck Dress (£38.00) made me feel very flirty. Not that I was, but you know what I mean (LOL). The dress was a little too short for me, so I wore my Bali leggings underneath. My hubby was happy about that. I chose my trusty Nine West heels to wear out that night. And I accessorized with a beautiful ring from Avenue and my Lane Bryant bracelets.
This dress got me so many compliments! I love the ruffle hem and the crocheted neck. Two distinct design features that you wouldn’t normally think go together. And the crochet goes all the way around, while the ruffle hem is just in the front. The dress does have a tie in the back so you can adjust it and a black slip underneath the dress, so it’s not see through. I did get a size bigger than what I normally wear, bit it didn’t make too much of a difference, I just adjusted the tie in the back and I was set. Love it!
What do you wear on a sunny day in Los Angeles? A maxi dress! Not just any dress, but the Passion Flower Maxi (on sale $30) by City Chic. The Australian fashion retailer is really impressing me with the fit and quality of their designs. My hubby picked this dress and I’m so happy he did. It’s the perfect length for my 5’6 height. I really liked the slight draping in the front and the ruched band on the bust. My favorite part of the dress is the fact that it actually fit me in the chest area without falling down and being uncomfortable. I actually didn’t want to take the dress off, that’s how comfortable it is. Oh and I must point out that the shipping from City Chic is FREE and it got here in a few days. That makes me a happy shopper.
I accessorized this dress with my favorite pair of Nine West gladiator sandals, a coral ring from H&M, bracelets from Avenue, and a brass key necklace from Mindfulnest. I told you ladies I’m going to be a maxi dress wearing fool this spring and summer (LOL).
Last week I attended the Hispanicize 2011 right here in Hollywood. It was their 2nd Annual PR & Social Media conference. I had an amazing time networking and reconnecting with my friends. I was asked to sit in on a panel of Fashion and Beauty bloggers. I was pretty nervous. There were four of us up there and I couldn’t help but stress how brands and companies are passing up opportunities to work with the “plus size” community.
I also made sure to tell the audience, that I don’t sit here telling you what to wear. I just give you recommendations on what I like and feel would look good on me. We all know that we have to find our own personal style. That being said, here are the three outfits taken by the awesome Cid of Cid Style File. My partner in crime. I made sure to dress comfy, because these are all day conferences. P.S. don’t mind my hair (I swear it was windy) and my awkward poses. LOL.

It’s a great start to a lazy Sunday. I wanted to post this outfit before I got too comfy.
I bought this vintage top from Kori of Buxom Vintage for $8. You should def check her out, she specializes in plus size vintage. She was a vendor at the Curvy Revolution.
I’d love to turn this into some sort of crop top. But the embroidery around the neck, sleeves and trim is really unique. So, I’d hate to lose any of it. Should I just leave it the way it is?
The denim straight leg capri ($20) is courtesy of Just My Size. I couldn’t find them online, but I know they are a piece from their spring looks. There’s a little bit of stretch in the material, which makes them the perfect capri for my lazy day.
*I was not paid for this post. Although, one item was gifted, the above is my true and honest opinion.
With the hubby being out of town, I had the chance to do something I haven’t done in a very long time. I had shopping “me” time. Not just regular old shopping time, but time well spent.
I spent hours just walking around the mall. Taking in fashion and a few bargains. I wasn’t in a rush, I didn’t have to be anywhere. I just took my time. It was awesome. I highly recommend it.
We all get our inspiration, one way or another. This is how I get inspired. I almost bought this amazing Rachel Roy dress from Macy’s, but I didn’t want it to be an impulse buy. Now, I’m sitting here going back and forth to the web site wishing I had bought it. Why does that always happen?
And because of L.A.’s cloudy and chilly weather I wore the most comfy outfit I could put together:
I was so very honored to be invited, by Macy’s, to the HOPE Latina History Day luncheon. It was very empowering and pretty exciting. The Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was in attendance, along with celebrity Eva Longoria (she was on her lunch break from Desperate Housewives). The dress code was business attire. Newsflash…I work from home. I don’t have any thing business-like!
So, I ran over to Macy’s (at the Westfield Culver City) and bought this INC ruffled blazer. It was originally $119, but on sale for $34.99. I am very much in love with the ruffles. It’s all in the details! It’s not on the Macy’s web site, sorry. But, it’s a great quality blazer with a flair. It zips up and has a little bit of stretch to it. The top underneath is tucked in and is also from Macy’s.
The day before the event, I had bought these Madden Girl Fizzlee Platform Pumps at T.J. Maxx ($24.99), which also has the ruffle detail. But, I still didn’t know what to wear with them. Then I remembered the amazing pair of Sejour Slim Pants I was gifted by Nordstrom (on sale now $39.90). They are really comfortable with a slight stretch in the material. I threw it all together with a layered gifted necklace. It was a very last minute outfit!
I learned one thing-I need to be better prepared for events with a business dress code!
This outfit is a perfect example of a comfy L.A. Saturday for me. Go ahead and judge if you’d like, I love my Uggs! They are the perfect boot for the chilly lounge days. You know you love them too! I find them to really be a love ’em or hate ’em shoe.
Comfy doesn’t even begin to describe today’s outfit. This top has a great tunic length, great sleeve length, and is made of the softest material. There are red and black rhinestones that accent the flower design and the shirred sides accentuate your curves. The leggings are not only comfy, but they are thick and durable. And the JMS brand is so affordable.
I threw on the Zip Jacket by Sejour and I got a lot of compliments. Made of 100% cotton, it has an asymetrical zipper, military-style lapel embellishments, and padded elbows. It will serve as such an essential piece to my wardrobe.
A comfy outfit for a comfy weekend.
All pieces of this outfit, except the Uggs, were gifted by JMS and Nordstrom. I was not paid for this post. The above is my true and honest opinion.
