My Closet: Lazy Sunday

It’s a great start to a lazy Sunday. I wanted to post this outfit before I got too comfy.

I bought this vintage top from Kori of Buxom Vintage for $8. You should def check her out, she specializes in plus size vintage. She was a vendor at the Curvy Revolution.

I’d love to turn this into some sort of crop top. But the embroidery around the neck, sleeves and trim is really unique. So, I’d hate to lose any of it. Should I just leave it the way it is?

The denim straight leg capri ($20) is courtesy of Just My Size. I couldn’t find them online, but I know they are a piece from their spring looks. There’s a little bit of stretch in the material, which makes them the perfect capri for my lazy day.

What do you wear on your lazy days?

*I was not paid for this post. Although, one item was gifted, the above is my true and honest opinion.

The Shopping Diaries: “Me” Time

With the hubby being out of town, I had the chance to do something I haven’t done in a very long time. I had shopping “me” time. Not just regular old shopping time, but time well spent.

I spent hours just walking around the mall. Taking in fashion and a few bargains. I wasn’t in a rush, I didn’t have to be anywhere. I just took my time. It was awesome. I highly recommend it.

We all get our inspiration, one way or another. This is how I get inspired. I almost bought this amazing Rachel Roy dress from Macy’s, but I didn’t want it to be an impulse buy. Now, I’m sitting here going back and forth to the web site wishing I had bought it. Why does that always happen?

I did pick up some jewelery from Francesca’s Collections, two books from Urban Outfitters ($2.90 each!!), and a cardigan from Nordstrom. What can I say…it was a  productive day.

And because of L.A.’s cloudy and chilly weather I wore the most comfy outfit I could put together:

What I Wore: Latina History Day Luncheon

I was so very honored to be invited, by Macy’s, to the HOPE Latina History Day luncheon. It was very empowering and pretty exciting. The Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was in attendance, along with celebrity Eva Longoria (she was on her lunch break from Desperate Housewives). The dress code was business attire. Newsflash…I work from home. I don’t have any thing business-like!

So, I ran over to Macy’s (at the Westfield Culver City) and bought this INC ruffled blazer. It was originally $119, but on sale for $34.99. I am very much in love with the ruffles. It’s all in the details! It’s not on the Macy’s web site, sorry. But, it’s a great quality blazer with a flair. It zips up and has a little bit of stretch to it. The top underneath is tucked in and is also from Macy’s.

The day before the event, I had bought these Madden Girl Fizzlee Platform Pumps at T.J. Maxx ($24.99), which also has the ruffle detail. But, I still didn’t know what to wear with them. Then I remembered the amazing pair of Sejour Slim Pants I was gifted by Nordstrom (on sale now $39.90). They are really comfortable with a slight stretch in the material. I threw it all together with a layered gifted necklace. It was a very last minute outfit!

I learned one thing-I need to be better prepared for events with a business dress code!

*Disclaimer: I was NOT compensated for this post., although the pants were gifted. The above is my true and honest opinion.

OOTD: Comfy Saturday

This outfit is a perfect example of a comfy L.A. Saturday for me. Go ahead and judge if you’d like, I love my Uggs! They are the perfect boot for the chilly lounge days. You know you love them too! I find them to really be a love ‘em or hate ‘em shoe.

On my comfy day I decided to wear this Evolution™ by JMS Screenprint Top With Shirring ($13.99), JMS (Just My Size) Essentials Stretch Legging, and the Zip Jacket by Sejour.

Comfy doesn’t even begin to describe today’s outfit. This top has a great tunic length, great sleeve length, and is made of the softest material. There are red and black rhinestones that accent the flower design and the shirred sides accentuate your curves. The leggings are not only comfy, but they are thick and durable. And the JMS brand is so affordable.

I threw on the Zip Jacket by Sejour and I got a lot of compliments. Made of 100% cotton, it has an asymetrical zipper, military-style lapel embellishments, and padded elbows. It will serve as such an essential piece to my wardrobe.

A comfy outfit for a comfy weekend.

All pieces of this outfit, except the Uggs, were gifted by JMS and Nordstrom. I was not paid for this post. The above is my true and honest opinion.

OOTD: Plaid, Cheap, and Easy?

Oh Target…this is another reason I love you!

I picked up this Converse One Star plaid dress for only $7 on clearance! I will admit it’s around two sizes too big, but nothing a little alteration won’t take care of. Besides if you just tie the strings in the back really tight, you can’t even tell.

This is the first plaid item I’ve bought for myself this season, I didn’t think I’d like it, but I love this dress!! It’s very comfortable and I love the military style brass buttons.

I wore a simple black cardigan, Assets opaque tights, Old Navy brass earrings (which you can’t see), and my boots from last season.

You know I love to keep things simple and easy. And this was! Oh…and the weather is starting to cool down, so I’m extra happy in the pic! LOL

What I wore: “Discovering Màs”

On Saturday, I threw my first event for the Los Angeles Latina Bloggers. “Discovering Mas” was my attempt to bring together Latina bloggers to network and learn. It turned out to be an amazing day, with so many beautiful Latina women in one place! Thank you to everyone who came! This is the outfit I wore (left). Alfani top w/belt, Old Navy Jeans, and Sam Edelman flats.

The day before the event I was running errands and decided to stop by Macy’s really quick to see if I could find something to wear. To my surprise, the woman’s section had six clearance racks and there was a coupon for 20% off! Yay!

I have been eyeing this red Alfani top for a while now, but I didn’t want to pay the $65. I spotted it on the clearance rack and proceeded to pay only $8!! Thank you to the mysterious lady who gave me her coupon.

It was very comfy and cool, which was great because I was doing a lot of running around that day. These Latina bloggers wore me out!

After the event, my brother and I had a chance to hang out. Which is kind of rare these days. We went out and ate at Sake House Miro (Yum!) and then went to have a cold beer to celebrate. As you can tell in the photo (right), I needed a drink. I look so exhausted! LOL.

The sweater is from Marshalls, the gray jeans are Source of Wisdom from Torrid (gifted), and the boots are also from Torrid.

This was the first “official” event I’ve planned and it was stressful! But so worth it. I had so much fun and I really learned a lot. I love hanging out with bloggers!  Go to LALatinaBloggers.com for an event recap.

OOTD: Gray in L.A.

It was nothing but gray skies today in L.A., just the way I like it! Yes, I’m a cold weather lover living in the City of Angels. I had a business meeting today, so I decided to try out my new Torrid Jayden Faux-Leather boots, dark denim jeans, and my Sejour Faux Suede Jacket by Nordstrom. The beautiful Nik of xoxo NikStar took my pics for me. She’s a doll! I was a little frustrated by the cowl neck on this top! I bought it at Macy’s a long time ago and don’t get me started on my hair. LOL. I was in a rush, so I went really simple with my jewelry; necklace from H&M, Fossil watch, and Lane Bryant bangle bracelets. The faux suede jacked was comfortable. It’s definitely not a warm weather jacket, but it’s a perfect fall piece. The boots are probably my favorite pair of shoes right now, but they are a little too high for me. No problem, I’ll just wear them more often to get practice. Don’t you just love giving yourself reasons to wear new shoes?!

OOTD: Simply Reworked

When it comes to re-working pieces into different outfits, there’s no better way to do that than with simple accessories. For example. You’ve seen this top from Torrid here and my favorite Old Navy skinny jeans a ton of times. Since my wallet has been on lock down lately, I haven’t been able to go shopping. So, I do what everyone does…rework pieces I’ve already worn. Today, I went to a womens luncheon with my cousin and I just wanted to be comfy. All I did to change things up was add earrings from Target, a Mudd Eternity Scarf (Kohls $9.99 on sale), and plum pumps by Candie’s ($5.00 on clearance).

How do you like to mix things up in your outfits?

OOTD: Getting Grecian

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I hope you’re enjoying your Labor Day weekend! I know I am. I had an amazing Saturday. We hung out with family and friends. I finally wore this gorgeous ASOS CURVE Draped Grecian Slinky Top (out of stock). I don’t know why I waited so long to wear it. It may just be my new favorite ASOS piece. It draped beautifully and I got a ton of compliments on it all night. You know I love that. LOL.

Of course I wore my favorite Lane Bryant Knit Denim Jeggings ($59.50) and my super awesome Mossimo wedges from Target that were a mega discount. I think the jeggings toned down the top, which could come off really dressy. I added my Forever 21 jewelry which included my favorite chunky chain necklace and a pair of stud earrings. Loved this outfit!

OOTD: Torrid Review III

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
When it comes to stripes, I’m not the world’s biggest fan. I think I might own two pieces of clothing with a striped design. So, when Torrid sent me this dress, I wasn’t sure I would like it. Once, again I really need to stop being so fatshion judgemental. Today, I wore the Navy Striped Belted 2-Fer Dress ($58.00) courtesy of Torrid, and I will no longer disapprove of stripes again.

When you first touch this dress, you can’t help but love the material; it is very soft. The navy and heather gray go so well together. These are two separate pieces, but they are attached at the shoulder area. And there is a black faux belt attached at the waist. I was worried it would ride up on me or the dress would fly open in the front, but it did neither of those things.

I was also amazed at how comfy and cool I was in this dress. We had a warm day today, and I wasn’t bothered at all. I think it could be really easy to dress this down with a pair of cute sandals as well. I think the thing I liked about this dress the most was the compliment I got while I was out and about. Thanks sales associate at Staples! Btw…the shoes are by Madden Girl.

OOTD: Torrid Review Part I

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Last night was date night with the hubby. I had the pleasure of wearing a few things courtesy of Torrid. I wore this Ivory Asymmetrical Ruffle top ($28) and the Source of Wisdom Virtual Stretch Distressed Skinny Jean (on sale $42). This photo was taken after a delicious steak dinner, I should of thought about this before wearing a skinny jean.

The ruffle top was extremely soft and comfy, but it was a little big on me. I usually wear a US size 18 and this was a Torrid size 2. I think the size 1 would have been perfect. I love the frills on the top, it added a very feminine touch to the outfit.

If you’re looking for a vintage inspired skinny jean, then you should really check these out. The denim is a great wash and I love the vintage touches. I was worried about the size when I was putting them on, I didn’t think they were going to fit. But, once I zipped them up, they fit like a glove. The jeans are made of this Virtual Stretch fabric, so they were very comfy. There are faux front pockets and I wish the waist was a little higher. But I loved how they fit me and I felt like they gave my butt some shape.

I didn’t want to over-accessorize because of the ruffles on the top, so I wore earrings my bff gave me and Unlisted wedges.

I’m curious if any of you have tried these jeans yet? How did you like them?
