Full Figured Fashion Week “Curves at Sea” All White Sunset Cruise

As we waited in line to board Full Figured Fashion Week’s “Curves at Sea” All White Sunset Cruise, all I could think of was how beautiful everyone looked. Of course, I was also looking to see how many of these beautiful ladies were wearing the same thing, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were only one or two repeats. Yay! I know it was hard to find what I was going to wear. LOL!

The cruise was so much fun with the Sonsi Photo Booth (that I missed), the swag bags, and the FFFWeek Big and Tall Male Fashion Showcase. The ladies were definitely loving the men! There were giveaways, dancing, and a beautiful view as we cruised around the island of Manhattan.

I snapped a few photos below…I’d love to know what you think! Were you there? Will we see you next year?

Full Figured Fashion Week 2012 Press Event

PHEW!!! I’m back from Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek) in New York and I’m exhausted! LOL! But, it’s a good kind of exhausted. Let me just start off my saying, that if you haven’t made it out to any of the FFFWeek events, then I highly recommend you trying to attend next year. It was such an amazing experience!! To see fashion for us on a runway  in New York City never gets old!

I was a member of The Fashion Front, a selected group of bloggers to cover all of the FFFWeek events. We were given early access and behind the scenes look into all of the plus size happenings. I did take over 2,000 photos while I was there. I will try to post them daily…I ask for mega-patience! LOL!

On the first day, I attended a special press event at 320 Studios (the terrace was amazing). It was a packed house! Most of the designers that were showcasing were in attendance and the press had a chance to meet them and get a sneak peek into their collections. It felt like a reunion as I ran into so many friends, but also met a lot of great people along the way. Take a peek at a few of my photos below!

Full Figured Fashion Week Here I Come!

Hello my loves! The countdown to Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek) is almost complete. Tomorrow I will be in New York City! It feels so awesome to say that. I will be surrounded by fashionistas in one of my favorite cities. I’m looking forward to so much while I’m there, I don’t even know where to start.

If you couldn’t make it this year (which sucks by the way), then you can follow me on Twitter via @CurvesandChaos where I’ll be tweeting the entire week. I’m part of the official Fashion Front, so I’m going to be everywhere!! You can also keep up with us by following the #SonsiFFFWeek hash tag on Twitter as well.

I am going to try and post while I’m there, but I know I’m going to be super busy! I’ll try my best. If you’re going, I hope to see you there! And if you’re wondering about tickets, I just read it’s all sold out.

New York City…here I come! xoxo

The Face of Full Figured Fashion Week™is …

Congratulations to Venessa DeLaRosa, the Face of Full Figured Fashion Week™ 2012! Isn’t she stunning?

Every year the Full Figured Fashion Week™ judges choose a face to represent FFFWeek in New York City. I think they’ve done an amazing job this year. But, it must have been so hard to choose only one, because each and every one of them are gorgeous!!

According to Gwen Devoe of FFFWeek, the winner will get  “a free trip to NYC, meet, greet and transo from the airport to her hotel, VIP access to all events, clothing to wear to the events, an opportunity to interview our designers, sponsors and celebrities (yes, we have some of those too) on the red carpet of our event(s) and all the love and support that 1,000 guests can give her!”

Sounds good to me! I can’t wait to meet her! Congrats Venessa! Read her bio here…

Must See Video: VICE.com Fashion Week Internationale

Thanks to Plus Model Magazine for the heads up on these two videos. Vice.com (from the UK), covered Full Figured Fashion Week for their series “Fashion Week Internationale.” I’d really love to know what you think after watching both videos.

I will tell you, it was honor to attend Full Figured Fashion Week and wouldn’t of had my experience any other way. I had an amazing time and loved being surrounded by women who love fashion as much as I do.

Here’s a link to the videos….

After watching the videos, I’m reminded how ignorant some people really are. Like I really needed reminding.

What are your thoughts?

FFFWeek: Runway Finale Outfit

I can’t believe Full Figured Fashion Week is all done and over with. My week in NYC went by in a minute! Before I knew it, the runway finale was upon us.

The event was held in a hotel located in Times Square and I can tell you the energy at the event was ten times more than what was going on outside.

I know I might sound like a broken record, but  I can’t stress how amazing it is to have all of these amazingly full figured, plus sized, curvaceous, shapely, or whatever you want to call it, women in one room drooling over fashion.

The designers were amazing and I loved that they used such a wide range of models in different sizes. I literally had my jaw drop a couple of times when I saw these beauties strutting their stuff on the runway.

Every designer had something I liked, but there were a few designs that definitely stood out. They know who they are! And I want to send a BIG CONGRATS to my girls Maddy and Fluvia for the awards they won! You are such role models! I love ya!!

For the finale, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone (thanks Ivory!), with a body hugging colorful dress. I found this cobalt Rachel Rachel Roy “The Vivian Dress” at Macy’s. It’s an XL and I was so happy I was able to stuff my curves into it. I paired it with these Jefferey Campbell lace back pumps, Forever 21 earrings, and Avenue bracelets (of course).

I think most of you have seen photos from the finale, but I wanted to share this one with you. It’s my favorite one of the night. It really shows the beauty on the inside and outside of these amazingly stunning women.

FFFWeek: The Pulse of the Plus Size Community Panel

If there is one thing I will take away from Full Figured Fashion Week, it has to be what I learned about our community. As part of The Fashion Front, we were involved in a lot of activities, but The Pulse of the Plus Size Community Panel was my favorite.

The panel consisted of Jill Hutchison of Sonsi, Katheryn Finney The Budget Fashionista, Madeline Figueroa-Jones of Plus Model Magazine, Jennene Biggins the Founder and CEO Voluptuous Woman Company, Leslie Medlik of Redress, and was moderated by Comedian Erica Watson.

We discussed so many things, but really focused on what our issues and needs are as a community, how we should support each other to succeed, price discrimination, availability of fashion, and the fashion industry.

The audience asked so many great questions! I was really honored to be in that room with so many amazing women and men. In fact, you’ve all inspired me so much, that I’ve decided to start a petition asking plus size retailers to use a wider variety of models in their ads. I think it really starts with them. You can sign the petition here or click on the widget on the side bar for more information. I would also encourage you to share it with your Facebook or Twitter friends.

At the end of the panel, I decided to take a few pics of the fashionable ladies in the room. If you’re wondering, I’m wearing a print smocked tank top courtesy off Lane Bryant, wide leg jeans courtesy of City Chic, and bracelets and sandals from Avenue.

Disclosure: I’m a member of The Fashion Front, which allowed me complimentary access into all events. Some items of my outfit were sponsored. The above is my true and honest opinion.

The Lane Bryant Blogger Conference

I think these days are going by a little too fast! Full Figured Fashion Week is in full effect!

Yesterday, I was a part of the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference, with a lot of my beautiful fellow bloggers.

We learned about how Lane Bryant decides on what trends and designs will make it into the next season. We even had a chance to preview a few pieces from their fall line. I’m loving the sequins.

The day was full of surprises! We were given the first look a the new HOT ad that’s about to hit for their T3 jeans and we were introduced to a limited edition Swarovski encrusted bra (See below)!

I got a chance to meet some of my favorite bloggers as well! They all looked fabulous…of course. We asked tons of great questions and really just learned so much about what makes Lane Bryant tick.

I wore the Print Maxi Dress and bangles (gifted by Lane Bryant), a Forever 21 necklace and earrings, and sandals from The Gap. I felt like a L.A. girl in New York City. Which I don’t really mind.

Full Figured Fashion Week Day 1

If you happen to see any words misspelled or words just left out of the sentence, it’s probably because I’m so exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good kind of exhausted!

I’m so grateful to be here in New York City for Full Figured Fashion Week. It’s such an amazing feeling to be surrounded by all of these people who care about the plus community and fashion industry.

Tonight was the first of events, the Media and Buyer’s Reception. It was held at the Sky Bar. It was such a beautiful day and that rooftop bar was packed! I met so many amazing designers and models. And reconnected with those whom I already know.

The outfit I wore tonight was courtesy of Lane Bryant. I wore the Curved Hem Dress by Seven7 , the Sequin Embellished Paisley Scarf in blue, and 9 Piece Bone Bangle Set. This dress is so amazingly comfortable and it’s pretty much made for any body type.

Here are a few pics. I loved all of the designs, especially the Queen Grace Collection and the Margaux Kouture dresses. I can’t wait for tomorrow! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @CurvesandChaos for day 2 of Full Figured Fashion Week!

To say I’m excited about Full Figured Fashion Week is an understatement. As a member of The Fashion Front, I can’t wait for the events, networking, and THE FASHION! I am not only ready to show New York a bunch of curvy love, but I am ready to party with my girls!

And by the way…I leave tomorrow night. I haven’t packed a thing. In fact, I’m not even done shopping. LOL. Yes, I’m “that” person. I did finally get my runway finale dress! It’s a very hip hugging kind of dress. I can’t wait to show you. You will also see a couple of days of outfits from the “one and only” Lane Bryant.

I will post every day and tweet my heart out. Please follow me @CurvesandChaos for all the updates. If you’re going to any of the events, please stop by and say hello. I’d love to meet you.

Full Figured Fashion not only means the world to me, but I know it means the world a lot of you. And now, the fashion world will see the mark we can and will make. Just look at some of the recent press it’s received:

Do I even need to give you another reason why? Just look at her designs, they speak for themselves. Besides, most of them are sold out. That should tell you something.
