TIME/CNN/People/Fortune 2010 White House Correspondents' Dinner Pre-Party

Chopard Celebrates 150 Years Of Excellence - Arrivals

These lovely ladies have definitely inspired me to get some color back into my wardrobe! Jessica Simpson and Gabourey Sidibe simply glowed at the TIME/CNN/People/Fortune 2010 White House Correspondents’ Dinner Pre-Party. While Christina Ricci made me green with envy at Chopard Celebrates 150 Years Of Excellence party. But, you’re not going to find me running around L.A. in a cocktail dress or fancy gown. Sorry.

I’m going to stay closer to my price range…like Old Navy! One of my favorite stores to shop at. Here are three spring/summer alternatives, all under $40! And if the weather gets chilly, throw on a cardigan or wrap. Simple, easy, and cheap.

Gray and Comfy

Last night, the hubby and I met up with his sister and brother to watch our lovely Los Angeles Lakers. I wasn’t really in the mood to dress up or anything. I was in one of my good ol’ comfy moments. Seems like I’ve been in that kind of mood lately. By the way, I haven’t worn a denim jacket since I was a little girl! I got this gray one at Old Navy for $7!! It has a very worn and thrifted feel to it. I wish it was more fitted, I felt like my waist got lost in this outfit. And yes…the Lakers did win!!

Jeans, cardigans, and I, we go way back. There’s nothing I love more than throwing on a comfy pair of jeans, a tank top, and a simple black cardigan. They make me a happy chica! Here are two casual outfits where accessories and shoes can make a difference. Outfit #1 was for a dinner and I wore outfit #2 to the Sassy City Chicks event. I am obsessed with the gladiator sandals. Love them!!

Summer Trends: Gladiator Sandals

Sandal Season is here!! Well, it is in L.A. Sorry, I don’t mean to brag. Some of you will get yours soon! Then you’ll want to try this trend, if you haven’t already.

This is another shoe style that I didn’t really love at first. That is until I tried it on and the gladiator sandal captured my heart. These go great with maxi dresses, capris, shorts, skirts, and even skinny jeans. If you have a wide foot, don’t worry…Torrid has us covered!

I just want to thank all those hunky Roman gladiators for bringing us this trend!

My golden rule: Make sure you try them on before buying them! I know this sounds like common sense, but the width can be tricky in these.

An Eye on Faith 21

Hey there!

I just got back from a weekend road trip, not a happy one, but I did get out of L.A. I had the chance to meet up with a lot of family that I haven’t seen in a long time. It was a pretty exhausting weekend. Let me tell you…I was very happy to be back home. I love me some City of Angels!! And just to update you, I am still on a budget…kinda. Lol. I did do some shopping last week. I spent my birthday gift cards…Sorry I didn’t do a post about the stuff I bought. But, I am in the mood to get a little shopping done at Forever 21. Here is what I have my eye on:

Trends?

I was flipping through the pages of this month’s issue of Harper’s Bazaar and I came across the “Rules of Summer.” You know…the things you should be wearing this summer, according to HB. They listed “12 Easy Updates,” which include leather shorts and a white blazer.

I am so down for the white blazer, I think it would look great with almost anything. Very versatile. Shorts and a tank, a pair of jeans, or a summer dress would all look very chic. And it’s probably really easy to find one at a thrift or vintage store (sorry the brain is always on bargainista mode). This one below is by J.Jill.

Hmmm…I like the idea of leather shorts…but it doesn’t seem very practical when you live in L.A. where the temperature can reach into the 100′s during the summer. But, then I think, they look kinda cute. (FYI…these are by Juicy Couture and they are available up to a size 14). Then my mind starts thinking about the “what if’s?” What if they stick to my legs when it’s hot…or they make me sweat? Am I thinking too much into this?

What do you think?

Kate & Louis Vuitton

Killer Inside Me Hits NYC

Wowza!!
Love Love Love this Louis Vuitton poncho that Kate Hudson is wearing! She wore it to the Killer Inside Me premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, over her Louis Vuitton dress. Oh, the tedious lives celebrities live…….{I’m being sarcastic btw!}

Summer Trends: The White Dress

Keep yourself cool this summer with a chic white dress. The thing I love the most about this trend is you can definitely mix it up! It’s as easy as adding a colorful accessory, a short sleeved cardigan, flip flops, or whatever you want! Or simply just wear it by itself. It’s a no-brainer. Don’t you just love easy fashion?

My golden rule: Don’t mix up different shades of white, keep it simple.

Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash

It was all about shopping, gift bags, complimentary spa services, and cocktails at the Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash! Held at the Peterson Automotive Museum here in Los Angeles, I had a chance to finally meet Cid from Cid’s Style File. FYI…she’s awesome!

I not only got a few freebies from sponsors like Chevy, Pixi, and Burke Williams, but I also picked up a Chillers T-Shirt for $10 and makeup from Pixi for only $5. I even got a free bra fitting from Frederick’s of Hollywood and a Buy One Get One Free coupon for one of their sexy bras.

With discounts up to 80%, there was clothing, jewelry, shoes, makeup, accessories, and handbags to choose from. There wasn’t much to choose from for us curvy chicks, but I think with a little urging maybe we can get a few plus-size designers out there for the next event. Maybe? I didn’t get to take the new Chevy Camaro for a spin either, but I did get to check it out and let me tell you, that is my next car for sure! It’s HOT!

If you are a self-proclaimed shopaholic then you need to get out to their next event. They hold them in L.A., San Francisco, New York, San Diego, and Las Vegas. Go here for dates.

Bali Comfort-U Back Review

Finding the perfect bra is probably one of our biggest headaches. Especially, if you’re a curvy woman with a larger chest.

So, when I was contacted to try Bali’s Comfort-U Back bra I was pretty excited. This new line features the beautiful Helena Christensen and boasts about the straps and the back of the bra staying in place. You know I had to try it out.

They sent me the Flower Bali Underwire bra. I actually wore this bra on my birthday and I was quite surprised at how comfortable it was. The straps never fell down and the back of the bra never rode up once, I guess I can thank the wide side straps and U-shape for that.

I wasn’t spilling out all over the place either. The only issue I had was the actual shape it gave my breast. I guess it’s natural, but I felt like they had a little bit of a cone shape. I would prefer them to have more of a round form.

As you can see in the pics above, the quality of the bra was great. It’s a very basic white bra with a simple floral design. They have a lot of different styles if this one isn’t for you.

I am big on comfort and affordability when it comes to undergarments. The Comfort-U bras have suggested retail prices of $29 to $36. That sound pretty good to me!!

Whew!!

What an amazing birthday weekend! I am so blessed to have such a

wonderful husband, family, and friends.

I spent the first part of the day just being a bum. My hubby bought me some red roses (awwwwww). Later that night, we made our way to a cousin’s birthday party. They even sang happy birthday to me…it was too sweet. We partied until 3a.m.! I was paying for that this morning.

I got $150 worth of gift cards…which I can’t wait to use by the way. So excited to go shopping! Of course I’ll keep you updated on what I buy. My bff sent me a little birthday package. The necklace (left) I’m wearing in the pic was part of my gift and she also bought me these beautiful silver tear drop earrings. She’s the best!!

Today, we had a BBQ and we had some friends come over. We watched the Lakers and the Dodgers win! Yay! Now, I’m sitting here yawning every 30 seconds. I’m pooped! I also wanted to say thank you to all of you who sent me birthday wishes. It means so much to me. Thanks!!
