You know I adore a good pair of jeans. Here are a few ways I’ve worn them over the past week. A week that consisted of my best friend’s visit, Las Vegas, and the resort town of Big Bear. It went by sooo fast. I can’t believe it’s over and my bff is on a plane back to Maine. I’m kind of bummed right now and I’m trying to get back into my blogging routine. Maybe shopping will help.
As you can see, the shoes and jeans are pieces you’ve seen before. They are my faves. FYI…those are the heels I walked the Vegas Strip in and probably won’t wear for a while. They killed my feet. It led to a barefoot walk through the Flamingo. Lol.
I love Patricia Field and her outlook on style. This necklace she designed for Payless is too cute!
Patricia Field, America’s Style Icon and long-time partner of Payless ShoeSource, designed a four-leaf clover charm necklace inspired by her recent work as a stylist and custom designer creating the fashion for the movie Sex and the City 2. The Patricia Field for Payless necklace is available now for $12.99, while supplies last, on Payless.com and in all Payless stores nationwide – fully supporting Payless’ idea of democratizing fashion.
I’ve been seeing a lot of mesh around lately…and I wondered if I was daring enough to wear it. I think I would if it was on a shoe. These are really HOT and could add enough punch to any outfit. Very daring!
OK…considering I just went shopping yesterday, I really shouldn’t want to buy something today. Right? But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this skirt!!!! They don’t have it at my local Forever 21 yet…I just called. And it’s only $13.80! Should I get it? Ugggghhhhh!!! I know I can wear it when I go to Las Vegas!! What to do???
I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years now. I’ve done it in various formats, trying to find my niche. In 2008, I created Urbanista, a blog about fashion and beauty for the urban/city woman. This past January, I asked myself if that blog was really what I was all about. Don’t get me wrong, I love that blog. I’m actually thinking of going at in a different direction. But, I had to ask myself a few questions.
Do I love fashion? Yes. Do I love beauty? Yes. Do I love shopping? Yes. Do I love to blog? Yes.
Wait…Why do I blog about fashion that I can’t wear? I’m a plus-size girl blogging in a NON-plus-size world. That’s when I decided to create Curves and Chaos. I’m so glad I did.
Why do I blog? It’s very simple…
I blog because I love to share information. I blog because it makes me very happy. I blog because I’ve had a dream to write since I was little. I blog because I have a degree in Journalism and I love this format of New Media. I blog because I love that I can write what I want, when I want, about anything I want. I blog because I can.
I do run a couple of other blogs and yes I consider this my “job.” I also consider it my passion.
I’ve learned a few things in the past couple of years as a blogger. I’d love to share them with you.
Write from your heart.
Be creative and original.
Stay true to yourself.
No one likes an egotistical blogger.
If at first your blog doesn’t succeed…try and try and try again.
It’s your blog…do whatever YOU want.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve become aware of a few things in this blogger community. This quote expresses exactly how I feel. “When science discovers the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed to find they are not it.” -Bernard Baily
How many times have you been told “you shouldn’t wear polka dots. It will only make you look bigger”? This is when you tell them to !@#$%&* off! But, in nicer words. Wear what you want…even if it’s polka dots! Yes…the dreaded polka dots! Remember, you should never fear fashion! My fave? #1 love that handbag!! My golden rule: there will be no more golden rules. Have fun with this trend!
Living in Arizona means you must always have a summer dress and chic sandals around! It’s gets pretty hot out there! Curves and Chaos loves this floral print tube dress.
And when it comes to makeup, she doesn’t discriminate. Whether it’s an over-the-counter or department store product, Brenda just wants it to perform. It has to get the job done!
Here are a few of the beauty products she used to get the following looks.

Over the past couple of years, I have blogged my little heart out. It wasn’t until this past January, when I created Curves and Chaos, that I realized just how much I’ve grown as a person. This isn’t a “pat myself on the back” moment either. I honestly believe that this community of amazing and beautiful curvy bloggers, has been exactly what I needed to realize what I love about myself.
I know what true love is.
I know I’m not perfect.
I can be silly any minute of any day and not be embarrassed by it.
I am comfortable in my own skin.
I am stubborn and that’s OK.
I use shopping as a way to relive stress.
Sometimes, I eat dessert before dinner.
I know the value of a hug.
I rely on my faith to get me through this life.
I know I would be nothing without the wonderful people in my life.
I’m going to stay closer to my price range…like Old Navy! One of my favorite stores to shop at. Here are three spring/summer alternatives, all under $40! And if the weather gets chilly, throw on a cardigan or wrap. Simple, easy, and cheap.
