Last night I got my totally rad 80’s on at the 2 year Blogaversary party for my girl Bren at So Much Pretty. Here are a few pics-Cid of Cid’s Style File and Sandra of Soy Fashionista were in attendance as well. We had so much fun! Thanks for the invite Bren!! My dress is courtesy of Size Appeal.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a Beauty Buzz feature and hosted a giveaway for KleanSpa. Here’s the original post. In case you were wondering KleanSpa products can be found in salons and stores throughout the nation. If you love creating your own scents and live in the Los Angeles area, then I would recommend attending their monthly Blending Bash. At the Bash, you will personally work with Jennifer (the owner) to create your own signature fragrance.
I attended one last month and it was so much fun! I went with Nik and Denise at the Burbank location which is inside an amazing boutique called MindfulNest. I think most of the night we spent shopping, drinking champagne, and choosing the oils for our scents. I created Chaotic Fruit, which consists of watermelon, pina colada, mango, and cucumber melon.. It smells so yummy.
Where do I even start? First of all, I want to thank Lane Bryant for the VIP pass to The Curvy Revolution. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have had such an amazing experience.
On the final day of the convention, I finally ran into NettaP, one of my favorite bloggers. Love that girl!
Then after getting lost, I attended a Lane Bryant panel session with the VP of Marketing, Jay Dunn. It was a very informative look into the world of Lane Bryant. Mr. Dunn made sure to remind us that it’s not about age, but about your attitude. I love that philosophy especially when it comes to fashion. He gave us a few insights on keeping LB on trend, their models, and what is in store for them in the future.
After the session, I went to dinner with my girls and then I ran back to my hotel to get ready for the runway finale. I bought this grey draped dress with an embellished belt from Forever 21+. My earrings and ring were from Aldo Accessories, and I wore my black patent leather Jessica Simpson platform pumps.
As I found a seat, I pulled out my camera, only to realize I left my batteries charging in my hotel room. I was so MAD! Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone to take photos. So, until LB releases their images, your stuck with cruddy cell phone images.
I was in awe of every confident curvy woman that came down the runway. Especially my girls Griselangel and Allison!! There was such a range of body types as well, which I loved!
Although the first half of the finale was awesome, I was really looking forward to Lane Bryant’s finale. I found a seat next to Sara of Bombshell Beauty (who is awesome btw). We all sat there anxiously waiting for it to start. Little did we know, the stunning Ashley Graham would open the show. Take a look of the really poor quality video I took with my phone (below).
From the moment Ashley Graham opened the show it only got better. There were dancing cowboys, poodles, male dancers, and of course…fashion! I really want to “high-five” whoever styled the models. There was a mix of sportswear and intimates. I was having so much fun and before I knew it, Ashley (wearing a black leather studded bra and panty) closed the show with a shower of confetti. It was my favorite fashion moment to date.
After the runway show, I finally met Aimee and Erica from Madison Plus and I snapped a photo with Ashley Graham.
Then we made our way to the after party. I had a powerful conversation with Jay Dunn about LB using models who are size 16 and up. I hope my pleading made some kind of impression. I also had a chance to meet and chat with Robert Rutkauskas, senior Lane Bryant designer. I then introduced myself to a few of the LB models, including Lizzie Miller. The night is one I will remember for a very long time!
I will say this…beyond the “behind the scenes” drama (that is not worth putting on my blog) I was really glad to have met the Lane Bryant team and the City Chic team. And the time spent with my girls is worth so much more. Thank you to all who made this an amazing weekend!
Day 2 of The Curvy Revolution was all about meeting the vendors at the Expo. I know there are so many amazing products and brands out there for the curvy woman.
I even had the opportunity to get a free bra fitting by Lane Bryant. I found out I’ve been wearing the wrong bra size! What? No wonder I’ve always been uncomfortable wearing under wire bras. Now, I know my correct size and my “girls” will be a lot happier. Maybe I’ll even buy the new Sateen Convertible Plunge Bra. Go get your free fitting today!!
Here’s what I wore:
Sweater: TJ Maxx Tunic: Abrstract Print Twist Neck Tunic (courtesy of Lane Bryant) Leggings: Sejour (Nordstrom) Boots: Dollhouse Bracelets: Courtesy of Lane Bryant
I got a lot of compliments on the tunic. I love the colors and once again the soft material. Chic and comfy! I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of it. I also wore my favorite leggings by Sejour, they are amazing. Now, let me tell you about the boots. They are very nice to look at but NOT AT ALL made for comfort. I wore them all day and I did a lot of walking; today my legs are aching and my feet hurt. I definitely need some cushioning in there.
Back to the vendors…I met a lot of inspiring curvy women yesterday. I bought a vintage top from Kori at BuxomVintage.com, she has an amazing selection of vintage pieces. Amanda Bennett of BennettsBoots.com came all the way from Australia to show her amazing line of wide calf boots. FYI…they are made from the same leather Prada uses. You’ll see them on Curves and Chaos pretty soon.
I picked up a few samples of PSST (Put Shorts Straight Today). I was so in love with this product. It’s a very simple and convenient way to stop your shorts from bunching up between your legs. I love it!!
The women from Curvy Divas Rock were so cute! I bought one of their tees (below) and I can’t wait to wear it. Because duhhhh…we do rock! I honestly loved meeting each and every person yesterday, it show the passion they have for the curvy community. Very very inspiring!!
I made the trek from Los Angeles to Las Vegas all by myself! Woohoo! I’m here for The Curvy Revolution and I am beyond excited! I am about to pass out from all the excitement and fun. So here’s a quick recap of what I wore.
Dress: Print Kimono Tunic (courtesy of Lane Bryant) Nylons: Target-Merona brand Shoes: Forever 21 Jewelry: Lane Bryant and Nordstrom
This tunic, which I made into a dress, is silky soft and comfortable. And it has pockets! I kept the jewelry minimal because of the print of the dress.
I met a lot of amazing Lane Bryant and City Chic people. Rosie Mercado was the host for the night. She rocked of course! Check out the pics below.
::::Don’t Forget::: Join me on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. for a Twitter Party sponsored by JAFRA. Follow the hash tag #JAFRAColor to join in! There will be beauty prizes! After the events of the night, I had a chance to catch up with my girls: models Fluvia, Griselangel, Allison, Courtney, Maddy from Plus Model Magazine, and stylist Reah. We had too much fun on our first night. I can’t wait to see what day #2 has for us.

It might be New York Fashion week and I do love fashion, but do you know what I love more? Full Figured Fashion Week! And it’s set to all go down again in New York on June 16-18, 2011!
I was lucky enough to be selected as a member of The Curvy Collective in Los Angeles last year for Full Figured Fashion Week(end). It was an amazing experience!
Every time I see founder Gwen DeVoe post something about FFFWeek on Facebook, I get more and more excited! As a matter of fact, they are currently searching for The (New) Face of Full-Figured Fashion Week for 2011. You might remember the stunning Rosie Mercado representing in 2010.
There are over 30 beautiful women vying for the spot! I can’t wait to see who wins!
Celebrating their 55th year anniversary, JAFRA is holding their annual conference in style at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas!
JAFRA, an international cosmetics company known for their popular Royal Jelly line, not only creates quality skin care products, but they also offer career opportunities.
Day 1 brought consultants from all over the United States together for a motivating, educational, and empowering session. I was lucky enough to experience it all. It was so inspiring to be around all of these women who whole-heartedly support each other in what could be a very competitive market. JAFRA President Connie Tang was on hand to share her passion for what she does. She also spoke about the Accelerate Your Success program, which presents a brand new Mercedes Benz to successful managers. There were 32 winners for 2010!
They also introduced their reinvented “color” line. Developed with the help of celebrity makeup artists Sergio Lopez Rivera and Aliesh Pierce, the colors are “for every woman, for every age, and every skin tone.” From natural to dramatic the looks are practically endless.
Day 1 ended with motivational speaker J.R. Martinez. While serving in the U.S. Army, he was severely burned after his humvee ran over a land mine during the Iraq war. Today, he travels the country sharing his story of resilience and optimism. It was a day to remember.
Day 2 will not only consist of live tweeting from the JAFRA workshops, but I’ll also be hosting a Twitter Party today from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. PST. Don’t forget to use the #JAFRA2011 hash tag, there will be a chance to win a JAFRA bag filled with products that were just launched valued at $250! Follow me on Twitter @BlogsbyLatinas to join in.
I am in a shoe obsessed mood right now, so bear with me. I can thank Chinese Laundry for that. Last night, I spent a few hours over at the Chinese Laundry Golden Globes after party held at the W hotel in Hollywood.
The night was filled with laughter and fun (wink wink) with a few gal pals. There were even a few interesting sightings. It was held in “The Living Room” inside the W, which was massive.
My night as a CoverGirl was a very exciting night! Now, you get to see my makeover process during the “Primping Party.” I was having technical difficulties after the party and I couldn’t post the video until now.

COVERGIRL encompasses beauty and glamour on the inside and out! And as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary, they want you to know that “Every woman is a COVERGIRL!”
I found out exactly what it means to be a true COVERGIRL. All thanks to an exclusive invite to their star studded 50th Anniversary party at BOA in Los Angeles! And there’s no better way to get red carpet ready, other than an exclusive “primping party” at The London hotel.
After the “primping” was over, we made our way to BOA for the party! I was nervous! It was my first red carpet and I don’t think I’ve ever been around so many celebrities. The venue was stunning and the free Godiva chocolate didn’t hurt. Neither did getting greeted at the door with a glass of champagne!
Celebrities on hand were Queen Latifah, Dania Ramirez, Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Selena Gonzalez, Mario Lopez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Riley, Ana de la Reguera, Cory Monteith, Kendra Wilkinson, Lauren Conrad, Niki Taylor, Portia De Rossi, Rachel Hunter, Sam Ronson, Sophia Bush, and Whitney Port…to name a few. I even bumped into a few celebs unknowingly.
I definitely felt like a true COVERGIRL!
