When COVERGIRL invites you to get pampered and attend the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’s), but you can’t go—you don’t let an opportunity like that pass by! That’s why I asked my beautiful, funny, and adorable friend Maya if she wanted to go for me. And she said yes!
COVERGIRL knows how to throw a party. Last night, they kicked off the MTV Video Music Awards with a pre-party featuring performances by Becky G and Jessie J. Yes, they are not only “Easy, Breezy, and Beautiful,” but they’re both extremely amazing performers. Total girl power! Watch the video I took of them both performing at the end of this post, which includes a cover of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” and “Bang Bang!”
Disclosure: This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and the TuVida App.
When it comes to Latinos in fashion, you can’t help but think of designers like Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, or even Isabel Toledo. They may be the biggest names in fashion today, but do you ever think about how they got their start? This is why I love events like Latino Fashion Week (LFW). They are created to introduce us to emerging and talented Latino designers. Fresh off their Dallas show, LFW came to Los Angeles! I was invited on behalf of the new Tu Vida app, to check out and share my experience.
There are very few designers and brands out there that create fashion for all sizes. Some will design for straight, then later will create separate and different designs for plus sizes. Melissa Masse is one of those that designs for all—sizes XS to 3X. It’s very refreshing! I was recently invited to her spring preview and I fell in love with her vibrant prints and amazing fit.
When I get an invitation to get pampered, let’s just say I’m in. But, if you’re Simply Be, you want to pamper me, and you want me to preview some of your spring pieces…well then that’s just a triple bonus! You know I’m really in! Along with a few of my very good blogger friends, we gathered in L.A. to get out nails done, chat, and more.
Let’s be honest, awards season has been pretty good so far. But, we still have the SAG Awards and the Academy Awards to look forward to. Don’t you just love the anticipation of the red carpet? Who is wearing what designer? And what will their hair and makeup look like. This past week, I actually got the inside scoop to a few Golden Globes celebrity looks thanks to L’Oreal Paris.
I remember watching Project Runway for the first time and instantly loving Tim Gunn. He was honest with each contestant, without really pushing them to change who they were as a designer. Besides, Michael Kors of course, he was one of my favorite reasons to watch the fashion designing competition. And with his comments this past summer about the state of designer plus size fashion, I love him even more.
