I imagine the designer of Rue 114, Serwah Asante, to be this really cool, vibrant, and carefree woman. I’ve never met her, but I just get that vibe when I look at her collection. Even her motto is awesome—”Great style should be available in all sizes because fabulous, fierce, kick-ass women come in all sizes!” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
I know we often complain about the lack of fashionable plus size clothing. But, the truth is, if you live in the U.S or U.K. we have the best selection in the world. That’s my opinion. I bet we never think about how plus woman in other countries deal with the lack of fashion where they live.
There will be a time in our lives when we need “the” dress. I’m not talking about a wedding dress either. I’m talking about a special occasion dress or evening gown that is classy, chic, and constructed beautifully. I think designer Tadashi Shoji was born so he could create these designs for us and bring them into our fashion lives. Just sayin’!
As a certified IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel fan I appreciate the classic look and fit of her pieces. I just happen to have the lookbook to her lastest collection, “Cinema Retro”. And it definitely embraces that. It transitions into spring with her signature silhouettes, retro prints, and great colors.
Take a deep breath…New York Fashion Week is finally over. I didn’t have the time, money, or energy to make it out there. But, I did keep up via one of my fave fashion sites Style.com. And although plus sizes were not represented on the runway, that doesn’t mean we can’t take inspiration from them…right?
IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel has just released their pre-fall collection and it’s gorgeous! Inspired by exotic Indian design elements and sensuous ancient Greek draping, there are some great dresses I have my eye on. Modeled by my friend Denise Bidot, the “Voyage Exotique” collection hugs curves in all the right places.
I first saw Youtheary Khmer show at Full Figured Fashion Week(end) in Los Angeles and she really stood out to me. That was two years ago and today she’s still impressing fashionistas around the world. Her current collection sold out the day it went on sale online. I think items are still on back order! I had a chance to chat with her at the recent FFFWeek press event and she’s still trying to catch her breath. She’s a very talented designer and I wish her nothing but success.
Are you in love with this designer as I am? Just so you know, I am always and forever in awe of Oscar de la Renta. He is one of my favorite designers when it comes to classic and elegant fashion. Unfortunately, he doesn’t create plus sizes, but I can definitely use his designs as inspiration. Last week I just happened to catch the live stream of his Resort 2013 runway show. Of course I looooooved it. Below are some of my favorites pieces. If I ever become a billionaire and get married again, I’m definitely getting him to design…
Luxury resort wear isn’t really something I look into very often. There doesn’t seem to be much of it for us curvy gals. But, when I find something that is a “One Size” and looks like it will fit me…I’m all over that. That’s what happened when Ivory and I were walking around Magic LV last month and came across Lotta Stenson Resort Wear. You may bave seen some of Lotta’s designs on a few celebrities like Kim Kardashian or Angelina Jolie. I will tell you that Lotta is not only extremely nice, but she has a great eye for…
