If you follow me on social media, then you know that I was recently in New York. I was invited out by Lane Bryant for a blogger discussion. More on that to come later. But, during this meeting I had a chance to sit at a table with LB President and CEO Linda Heasley. We talked about a lot of things, including a discussion about styling flare jeans. Funny thing was, I actually had a post drafted before I left for this trip. This was just a sign that I had to follow through and write about the latest denim trend. Read more

As any denim lover knows, we take the style of our jeans very seriously. Most of the time, we stick with that one style that not only looks good, but fits great. Over the past few years, I’ve stuck with the same skinny jean silhouette in a dark wash. That’s just what I’m drawn to. So, when Target challenged me to a different kind of denim hack, like trying a few AVA + VIV denim styles I wouldn’t normally buy—I was a little uneasy. Read more
Shout out to Helena, a fellow blogger over at PinkGuayoyo.com for inspiring this post. She asked me on Twitter what some of my favorite plus-size skinny jeans were. Then I realized, this is not the first time someone one has asked me that question. So, I set out to do a little research and see what the internet had to offer us in the skinny jean department. For about a millisecond, I considered creating a blog where all I do is write about my love for denim jeans. I wear them all of the time and then some. They’re just my favorite of all-time favorites. A little obsessed. In fact, I decided to share 10 plus size denim jeans that have caught my eye at the moment. Read more
Would you believe me if I told you that I’ve been dreaming of a pair of high-waisted denim? Well…I have. I know it’s kind of weird, but I practically live in denim. Day in and out. But, I’ve always struggled with the low rise factor. It’s so annoying. Then one day City Chic sent me a pair. Read more
I’m sitting here sick in bed with my laptop and a box of tissues. Sneezing every few minutes, but online window shopping at the same time. It’s a talent. I swear. I keep running across these great denim pieces that I want. In all my stuffiness, I’ve realized that I want a lot of things. Hence…my denim wish list. Read more
I love the smell of football in the air. If you didn’t already know I’m a huge sports fan. Nevermind the fact that my Denver Broncos didn’t make it. I don’t want to talk about it. Moving on…tomorrow is the “everything” of football-the Super Bowl. The Baltimore Ravens will take on the San Francisco 49ers, but here’s the important question…what are you going to wear? Read more
Yes…you read that correctly…I have a denim dilemma. I just can’t seem to find that perfect pair of jeans. It’s so annoying because, I love wearing denim. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m wearing it in about 90% of my outfit posts. Read more
The denim curiosity started in Las Vegas. From the moment I saw model Fluvia Lacerda in a pair of City Chic jeans, I knew I had to try them out. She has amazing curves and these jeans hugged her in all the right places.
And since skinny jeans are all the rage, I wanted to do something a little different by picking the Lace Up Wide Leg Jean ($58). I think this my might be my new favorite cut.
I do have a high waist, so low rise jeans are not for me. For some reason, I thought these were higher waisted, but they actually sit a little bit below my belly button. That’s not ideal for my shape.
One of my favorite features is the dark wash of the jeans. This makes it so versatile and easy to dress up. Because of the stretch in the denim, these jeans are also very comfortable.
The length of the jean was perfect for my height (5’6), while wearing my new heels. But, I do warn that the hem will probably drag with a flat shoe. I haven’t had a chance to wash them yet, so I can tell you if they shrink or not. When I do, I’ll post that as an update here and on my Facebook page.
Take a look at the pics below. This is after wearing them all day, so they keep their shape. They didn’t start to sag, which a problem I normally have with jeans. Because of this one pair, I am very interested in trying another cut. Hmmm…skinny or bootcut?
Do you own a pair of City Chic jeans? Do you love or hate them?
Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this review. Although, this item was gifted, the above is my true and honest opinion.
You thought it was just a fad.
You were told curvy girls couldn’t wear them.
You tried them on and uncertainty set in.
Now, every where you turn you see them. On the street and in the mirror, it doesn’t look like skinny jeans are going anywhere. Different from a “jegging” the skinny jean has made it into the hearts of fashionistas everywhere. You can call them cigarette pants, pencil pants, skinny pants or skinnies.
Originating in the 1950’s, they made a comeback in the 80’s, and now men are even wearing them?
I will admit, I was a skeptic at first. I tried on a pair at Torrid and I wasn’t sold on them. In fact, I kind of cringed as I looked in the mirror. But, today I own a few pairs and I love them. Skinny jeans go great with a flowy top or chunky knit sweater and a pair of my favorite boots.
This curve flaunting style has made it beyond it’s 15 minutes, but are you embracing it? Do you long for boot leg, wide leg, and flare cut jeans?
When was the last time you looked at a piece of clothing, that you loved, but thought “I can’t wear that!” And then you’re on to the next item. For whatever reasons it may be…color, style, body issues. Let’s just push that all aside. How do you know you can’t wear it unless you try it on?
For some reason, that’s what I thought when I saw this top I’m wearing here. My first instinct is to throw a sweater over it, but it’s hot here! Then I tried it on and I loved it. Courtesy of Torrid, the Black Butterfly Tube Top ($38) was not as scary as I imagined it. It was comfortable and it didn’t show my cleavage to the world. It didn’t fall down like a lot of tube tops do. I didn’t know if the (faux) leather and studded design was my thing, but I guess it is now.
I also wore Torrid’s Source of Wisdom virtual Stretch Grey Skinny Jean ($52), also courtesy of Torrid. Now, these jeans fit differently than the other pair I reviewed. The had a lot more stretch in them. I feel like I almost could have worn a 16R in these. I really love grey denim and have that vintage and faded look to them. I just wish I would have worn a belt because they were falling a little. Also, the label on the waistband was itching my back. But, they were comfy as well.
You know I’m not a big fan of over accessorizing, especially with the top having a lot of detail, so I just wore a pair of black earrings. I paired it all with my trusty gladiator sandals. Overall, I’m pretty happy with these pieces. I just have to throw these jeans in the dryer and I think it will be perfect.
BTW…that lipstick is the Wet n’Wild #511B lipstick I told you about in the video.
