City Chic Denim Review

The denim curiosity started in Las Vegas. From the moment I saw model Fluvia Lacerda in a pair of

Disclaimer: I was NOT paid for this review. Although, this item was gifted, the above is my true and honest opinion.

The Skinny Jean Revolution

You thought it was just a fad.

You were told curvy girls couldn’t wear them.

You tried them on and uncertainty set in.

Now, every where you turn you see them. On the street and in the mirror, it doesn’t look like skinny jeans are going anywhere. Different from a “jegging” the skinny jean has made it into the hearts of fashionistas everywhere. You can call them cigarette pants, pencil pants, skinny pants or skinnies.

Originating in the 1950′s, they made a comeback in the 80′s, and now men are even wearing them?

OOTD: Torrid Review II

When was the last time you looked at a piece of clothing, that you loved, but thought “I can’t wear that!” And then you’re on to the next item. For whatever reasons it may be…color, style, body issues. Let’s just push that all aside. How do you know you can’t wear it unless you try it on?

For some reason, that’s what I thought when I saw this top I’m wearing here. My first instinct is to throw a sweater over it, but it’s hot here! Then I tried it on and I loved it. Courtesy of Torrid, the Black Butterfly Tube Top ($38) was not as scary as I imagined it. It was comfortable and it didn’t show my cleavage to the world. It didn’t fall down like a lot of tube tops do. I didn’t know if the (faux) leather and studded design was my thing, but I guess it is now.

I also wore Torrid’s Source of Wisdom virtual Stretch Grey Skinny Jean ($52), also courtesy of Torrid. Now, these jeans fit differently than the other pair I reviewed. The had a lot more stretch in them. I feel like I almost could have worn a 16R in these. I really love grey denim and have that vintage and faded look to them. I just wish I would have worn a belt because they were falling a little. Also, the label on the waistband was itching my back. But, they were comfy as well.

You know I’m not a big fan of over accessorizing, especially with the top having a lot of detail, so I just wore a pair of black earrings. I paired it all with my trusty gladiator sandals. Overall, I’m pretty happy with these pieces. I just have to throw these jeans in the dryer and I think it will be perfect.

BTW…that lipstick is the Wet n’Wild #511B lipstick I told you about in the video.

OOTD: Torrid Review Part I

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Last night was date night with the hubby. I had the pleasure of wearing a few things courtesy of Torrid. I wore this Ivory Asymmetrical Ruffle top ($28) and the Source of Wisdom Virtual Stretch Distressed Skinny Jean (on sale $42). This photo was taken after a delicious steak dinner, I should of thought about this before wearing a skinny jean.

The ruffle top was extremely soft and comfy, but it was a little big on me. I usually wear a US size 18 and this was a Torrid size 2. I think the size 1 would have been perfect. I love the frills on the top, it added a very feminine touch to the outfit.

If you’re looking for a vintage inspired skinny jean, then you should really check these out. The denim is a great wash and I love the vintage touches. I was worried about the size when I was putting them on, I didn’t think they were going to fit. But, once I zipped them up, they fit like a glove. The jeans are made of this Virtual Stretch fabric, so they were very comfy. There are faux front pockets and I wish the waist was a little higher. But I loved how they fit me and I felt like they gave my butt some shape.

I didn’t want to over-accessorize because of the ruffles on the top, so I wore earrings my bff gave me and Unlisted wedges.

I’m curious if any of you have tried these jeans yet? How did you like them?

I think I have to get my hands on a denim vest! I found these pics on City Chic’s Inside City Chic blog. These are only two of the lovely looks from their new “lady like lookbook.” I love the ruggedness of the denim and the delicate touch the flowers give the outfit. A great combination!

Wish List: Maurices

Being on a budget is not working for me! Look at what I found at Maurices! Darn e-window shopping! I’m definitely in the mood for coral and denim. Especially, the cutoff shorts. Which I can probably do at home…hmmm…lightbulb! This budgeting is inspiring DIY projects. I guess that’s a good thing. Right?

Handbag Gallery: Denim

You all know denim is a hot spring trend…what about your handbag?
Are you daring enough to whip one out while the birds are chirping and flowers are blooming?

Spring Trends: Denim

When I think of denim, the first thing that comes to mind is a great pair of jeans. If you’re the same way, you might want to rethink denim this spring. It’s coming at ya’ in the form of jewelry, dresses, skirts, shoes, and jackets. Are you ready?

**My fave is #2 the Denim Allure Dress by F21. I wanted to buy it this weekend but they only one left and it was too small!

My golden rule: Don’t do denim head to toe. Add one piece and work around it. You don’t want to look like a denim factory threw up on you!
