Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. He captures everything great about the Parisian woman – glamour, power, and playfulness. And, the bags? Don’t even get me started on the bags.
My LV handbags are a must-have. Please don’t make me choose just one of them.
“Fully Functioning Concealer” would be the best concealer known to woman, perfect for camouflaging dark undereye circles and treating acne and blemishes.
Paris is my favorite city so packing all the right pieces in such little time would be crucial. I would pack v-neck tees in a rainbow of colors, two cardigans, dark wash jeggings, dark grey trousers, opaque black leggings, a high-waisted white and black dress, a few statement necklaces and bracelets, pale pink nail polish, flats, pumps,my makeup kit, and a few of my favorite headbands!
“I’m a brand, baby, and every day I’m my own best advertisement.” – Kimora Lee Simmons
I actually don’t have a favorite, I like to mix things up. And I don’t think that clothes have to be expensive to look good. But no doubt Balmain has great influence this season.
Tiny ones for going clubbing, huge ones for shopping and everything in between! I’m a bag lady, LOL. At the moment I love black, studs, florals and pastel ones.
I think it would be a body butter. I looove body butters. It would be very floral and fresh scented, not too heavy and I’d call it Butter Me Up… or something. I totally just made that up, I’ve never really thought about it before, haha!
I’d bring my phone, my camera, a bottle of water and a snack. This could take all day! And oh, I’d be going to London.
Don’t be a slave to fashion. Make fashion work for you!

Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?
My favorite designer changes with each season, as I constantly see my perspective on style and fashion change. Marc Jacobs is a consistent favorite and I love what the Rodarte sisters do, as well. However, right now, I am crushing on a local designer from Boston, Millie Bautista, who after seeing her clothing first hand, has converted me into an instant fan. She works with textures in a creative way to add interest to very basic pieces, such as a black sheath dress. I like designers who can make clothing look like art, but still feel like something you could wear with your friends out to brunch.
I love this simple silver ring from Bali that one of my students gave me as a Valentine’s Day Gift. I love accessories that have a story attached to it, as it makes it more interesting when someone asks you, “Where did you get that?”
Great Question! I’d make a hair product that made sure every girl with curly hair had perfect frizz-free curls everyday! I’d call it, “Amelia’s Miracle!”
A black dress with a scoop neck to reveal the sexy collar bone/neck, black tights to elongate the legs, black platform pumps, a cocktail ring, and Nars lipstick in Red Lizard in Paris, of course. Oh! And I’d bring along my iPod to play a pre-party music mix!
“Dress for where you wish you could be, not where you are going.” My mom has always taught me through her own style that fashion is not only about self-expression, but about telling a story. Usually, that story is based in some sort of fairy tale/dream.

I guess this could be a two part question. I love Christian Dior. The designs are so romantic and feminine. This designer seems togo the extra mile in all the lovely feminine details. This is my favorite straight size designer that I wish I could wear. Jibri is my favorite plus designer. Her designs occupy my closet, b/c of her same similar feminity and structure to Christian Dior.
Belts, belts, and more belts. Because of my pear shape, belts give my curves an eyecatching silloutte. I could have a paper sack on, but belted I could make that papersack fabulous.
I have crazy hair at times. I am never completely happy with my hair products, so my beauty product would be a product to make my curly hair more manageable. I would name it The Curly Headed Girl’s Product…LOL
LBD, wrap dress, flats, a boyfriend watch, killer heels, bib necklace, belt, mascara, blush, gold eyeshadow, and a girdle. Literally all this stuff could be torn in my suitcase at a moment’s notice. I always have an idea of my jet setting essentials, b/c I am a terrible last minute packer. My favorite city is NYC. There is so much to see, so much happening. Once you set foot on the concrete a love affair begins, full of ups and downs, but regardless of the outcome the romance is well worth the trip.
“Fashions fade, style is eternal” ~Yves Saint Laurent
I have several favorite designers that I absolutely love, but for clothing it would have to be Ralph Lauren. His pieces are classic and withstand yearly trends. Also, he has “real” sizes that work for plus-size women. Most of my favorite pieces in my closet are Ralph Lauren that I have thrifted. Another favorite of mine is Marc Jacobs, though I know I won’t ever be able to wear his clothing unless I lose more than half my weight, his accessories lines are amazing. Sunglasses, handbags, shoes, etc are all amazing and I can’t get enough of them.
Being a plus-size woman makes shopping for clothes in the “high fashion” designer lines harder, so I love the in house designers for stores like Avenue, Torrid, and Target. They really cater to PS women on a budget and make both trendy and classic pieces that aren’t gawdy.
Sunglasses! No matter what the weather is they are perfect. If you are having a bad day and your eyes are puffy slip on a pair and wallah they’re gone. Sunglasses can add pop of color to a basic outfit too, you could be wearing all black and have a red pair on and it will instantly change your look. My favorite pair are my Marc by Marc Jacobs ones. I actually have 3 pairs of them that I don’t know what I would do without.
Surprisingly I don’t wear that much makeup or use that many beauty products, so this is hard to answer. However, I would love the ability to create the perfect shampoo and conditioner that would be designed specifically for my hair and my hair only. My hair is out of control and it has to do with Cuban/Irish genes. Its crazy curly, thick, but also fine and oily, which makes it hard to find a shampoo/conditioner that works right for my hair. Either it weighs my hair down and makes it more greasy, or it drys it out completely. I would name it Cubanita Works
A maxi dress, flip flops, a pair of leggings, one long knit tunic, bathing suit, and one pair of wedges. I would love to be in a maxi dress daily and dress it up my throwing on a pair of wedges if I need to go out on the town. My favorite city is one that I have never been, I would love to go to Havana. I have seen thousands of pictures from my mom and grandmother, it is such a beautiful place. If I had the opportunity I would love to go to Cuba and see the areas my family grew up in.
“Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.”- Eleanor Roosevelt. Being a bigger girl I have had to deal with criticism and jokes, but when that happens I think of this quote and I realize what others say doesn’t matter. I have learned the hard way that what I think of myself and how I see myself counts for more than how others see me. I have come a long way in my self-confidence journey, and blogging about my style has helped me feel more secure with myself.

Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?
Do you live by a fashion philosophy or quote? What is it?
I am a big fan of Jean Charles de Castelbajac. I love color, eccentric and unique things, I might even add bizarre things lol. My dream is to, one day, fit into on of his creations, definitely customized into my size !!
I really love hair accessories like a headbands, a cute little hair clips or a little bow tie. I do wear them often; it is a simple gesture, but it does add up a little extra something to the whole outfit.
Without any doubt, it would be a lipstick!! I love wearing lipstick that have a beautiful red or pink vividness. Therefore, I would create a color close to this two tones. I would manufacture a collection of classic lipsticks, but also another collection with more unique tones, without leaping into the ridiculous, of course !! As for a name, honestly I can’t really say.
If I had so little time, I would take my lovely black jacket, a pair of high heels, my pixel dress, my flounce dress and my inevitable little black dress. I’ll decide what to wear on the spot and in any case I think I’ll buy a lot of things once I get there !! Same for the accessories and the makeup, I would pick those of best value and use, and I’ll get the rest from there. As for the city, I would choose LONDON, because I have never been there and I’d do lots of shopping!!
My philosphy is to wear what we love, to find ourselves in a style that makes us happy and not to refrain ourselves from unique things, not necessarily in fashion. The most important thing is to feel great and hapyp in whatever we decide to wear!

I adored the late great Alexander McQueen as he was so inspiring and kept fashion fun and refreshing. I also have a few peices by Vivienne Westwood. I love Ana Sui’s quirky/punk look too. It’s also my dream to own a Chanel quilted handbag. But what I tend to wear is stuff from the UK High Street – cheap, chearful, fun and versatile.
Black eyeliner – It adds a quick dash of glamour to any look!
Ooh what a good question. It’d be ‘MessyCarla’s Volumizaganza’ and would be a hair product for big, massive hair. Sleek is chic, but for me – pump up the volume!
My favourite city in the world is my home city of Newcastle. It’d be a very chillaxing event on Newcastle’s Quayside and anybody could attend as I love it when fashion opens it’s arms to people who wouldn’t usually be interested. There’s be fashion shows by high street brands and couture designers. Everywhere there would be cupcakes, chocolate fountains and everything would be PINK!
“Sometimes the illusion of grandeur is more endearing than actual riches” – Paloma Faith.
I have too many to name but I love McQueen, Jacobs, Galliano, and Gaultier for their creativity. I love seeing what they do. I don’t know what is going to happen to McQueen’s line now that he is gone, but I hope his spirit can live on.
I don’t know I guess my big black Hollywood Intuition purse from Target. It has all of these pockets and can hold just about anything. I love that thing to death, and I carry it everywhere.
I guess it would be called Lady Jai. It would be a lightweight foundation with full coverage. I’m talking light as a feather on your skin but heavy enough to cover up acne, hyperpigmentation, and other spots. Lady Jai would come in every color so no skin tone would be left out.
I would throw all of my cameras, video cameras, laptops, cute flat combat boots, skinny jeans, tees, underwear, and toiletries in big suitcase that hopefully weighs 50 pounds, so I don’t have to pay extra. I would be packing for any of the cities during the four main fashion weeks. I can’t pick just one, so it would have to be Paris, London, New York, and Milan.
I think the motto I am living by right now in fashion is to just do whatever you want as long as you are comfortable. I can only be me, so I suggest others do the same.

My jeans, if I could I would wear jeans everyday. I love them because their are so many styles of jeans that can work for everyone. You can dress them up and look sexy or be totally casual and comfy.
I don’t really have favorite plus size designer, but over all I love Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui. I love Betsey and Anna because their designs are always a fun, with a bit of edge yet still flirty and feminine. If either designer had a plus size line I would fill my closet with all their clothing.
I would create a potion that you would put on your hair it would instantly straighten your hair. I have very curly hair & its hard to manage. As much as I would love straight, I hate to use a flatiron or dryer, so if I could just put on gel or some kind of potion I would be in heaven! I would call it curls b-gone!
Paris is my dream city & vacation spot. The fact that is one of the most fashionable & stylish cities I think I would grab trash bags & bring as much as I could. I wouldn’t want to be unprepared in Pairs, or I can just pack my undergarments and go on a shopping spree in the city of lights! That would be a dream come true!
My fashion philosophy is I wear what makes me feel good and comfortable. I like many styles of fashion and I try to incorporated as many as I can in my wardrobe (not all at once of course) Don’t want to limit my self to a certain definition of style, life’s too short not to be stylish!

I honestly don’t have one, I’m not crazy about labels. However, I dream of buying everything at Carmakoma.com. Their designs are feminine, trendy, edgy and very flattering for curves. Apart from them, I think the designers behind New Look, Evans, Dorothy Perkins and H & M are doing a pretty good job.
Comfortable but stylish shoes. Shoes can make or break an outfit, right? and no one looks hot when they’re in pain haha.
If possible, I would create something that gives you flawless skin- no acne, wrinkles, blackheads etc. How amazing would that be?! It’s name would have to have the word miracle in it somewhere I suppose.
My favourite destination will always be Goa. It’s where I’m from by the way but I’ve lived all my life in Dubai. It’s a state in India, it’s home and hedonism all in one sunny, adventurous package. I would pack a few gorgeous summer dresses, cute flip flops, some bohemian jewelery and killer sunglasses.
I strongly believe that fashion is about fun, creativity, self expression, identity and making yourself feel good, no matter what your size is.

I love Alice + Olivia, Qristyl Frazier and Monif C. Sorry! I could not pick just one. Although I can’t fit anything but accessories from Alice + Olivia, I still draw inspiration from their clothing. As far as Qristyl and Monif are concerned, I think they really know the plus sized figure.
As of right it’s the denim jacket that I “borrowed” about a month ago from my friends closet. I will probably be in pain when she finally remembers that I have it and wants it back. haha I’ve been trying to find my own, but no such luck yet.
I have such a hard time matching my skin up to foundation. I know one of the drug store lines claims to blend and match perfectly with your skin, but I have yet to see that happen. Hmm so I’d create the most perfect foundation ever and since I’m not clever with naming things, I shall call it…Skin!
First, I’d probably starting sweating profusely at the idea of packing in ten minutes. I hate packing! I’d bring my trusty black pencil skirt, a LBD, brown heels and black heels, a pair of jeans and comfy tees, “my” denim jacket and a navy blazer.
Not really. I wish I could say something that sounds witty and profound, but I really just enjoy fashion. I may not be as extreme or edgy as some people are, but I like to take bits and pieces of what they are wearing and work it into my wardrobe. I like a classic trend with a bit of “I did not see that coming” edge to it whether it’s my hair, my polish or accessories. Oh wait a minute, I thought of a quote! “A girl should be two things; classy and fabulous.” ~Coco Chanel
