Beauty Buzz: Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense

Where are my Clinique fans at? I know you’re a loyal bunch. And if you’re one of them, then you probably already know about this amazing facial moisturizer.

Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator ($36) is a tall drink of water for your skin. Seriously. It literally feels hydrating when you’re applying it. I will tell you I have combination skin. That means it’s oily in some areas and dry in others. This is ideally for Very Dry to Dry and Dry Combination skin types. If you have oily skin, then this is not for you.

“Rich, oil-free cream-gel instantly rehydrates. Skin stays comfortably plumped, even 24 hours after you put it on. Daily use helps fortify and repair skin’s moisture barrier to keep moisture in, environmental irritants out. Better barrier, happier skin.” -Clinique.com

I applied this moisturizer on my face after getting out of the shower, because that’s when my face feels the driest. You only need a small amount for the entire face. It’s very light and leaves the skin feeling dewy. I will admit, because of my skin type and the oily areas of my face, I can’t wear this under my foundation during warmer weather. My forehead will get oilier than usual. This just goes to prove it’s for skins on the drier side and my skin during the winter. I love using it when I know I’m staying in for the day and not applying makeup.

Do you have dry skin? Have you tried Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator? What do you think?

Beauty Buzz: New L’Oreal Paris EverStyle

Dry hair is not my cup of tea. And, until recently, I didn’t really care to check if the products I were using contained alcohol or not. It can be damaging and dry out your hair. Which makes it easier for your hair to break. Why did I not ever worry about this? I don’t know. That’s why I was excited to try the  L’Oreal Paris EverStyle line, which is alcohol and paraben free. This makes me a happy camper. But, you’re probably wondering the same thing I did…do they work?

I tried the Curl Defining Gel and Mousse, Smooth and Shine Serum, and the Strong Hold Styling Spray and Gel. They actually worked a lot better than I thought they would. Maybe a little too good. LOL…is that weird? I guess I’m a little too used to these products not working. I have wavy hair, so the curl defining line worked on holding the wave I have. And the Strong Hold line works great. Since these were awesome, I wasn’t surprised the serum worked too. I also loved that these products didn’t cause any flaking. If you’re looking for  alcohol-free prouducts, I’d definitely try the L’Oreal Paris Everstyle line.

Beauty Buzz: COVERGIRL & Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 Foundation

I love being able to “Kill two birds with one stone,” as the saying goes. And in the world of beauty, there’s no better way to do that, then to combine two of your favorite products. But, sometimes it doesn’t always work out.

For example, I don’t think those shampoo and conditioner combos work for me. I can never tell the difference. Is that just me? LOL!

There’s a brand new cosmetic combo that’s caught my attention. COVERGIRL’s foundation and Olay’s hydrating serum have combined to give us Tone Rehab 2-in1 Foundation. Not only will it help cover fine lines and wrinkles, but it also covers discolorations and age spots, while hydrating and improving your skin tone.

I was sent #145 Warm Beige which matched my skin tone (great job colormatching btw). The foundation goes on smoothly, blends well, and smells really good. It has that clean fragrant smell that I love. And you don’t really need a lot of product to cover your entire face. It’s not a matte foundation by any means, but it’s not super dewy. It leaves a pretty natural glow. It does a decent job with the fine line coverage and any discoloration. Nothing too dramatic.

I’d definitely try this foundation again, just so I can see the long term effects. COVERGIRL is always keeping it interesting. Just the way we like it!

Have you tried this yet? What do you think?

Beauty Buzz: Estee Lauder’s Mad Men Collection

Where are my Mad Men fans? It’s all about the glamorous 1960’s and the sexy Christina Hendricks. Already headed into it’s fifth season, this AMC’s series has inspired a brand new and limited edition Estee Lauder Mad Men Collection. You’ll find an amazing red lipstick named Cherry and a pink rouge named Evening Rose. Even the outer carton was inspired by Estee Lauder packaging from the 1960’s.

I grabbed my new camera and snapped a few photos for you. I love how classic this is. So, what do you think? Will you pick up this new collection?

Beauty Buzz: Estee Lauder’s Teal Topaz

I’m so sorry to do this to you, but I have to share Estee Lauder’s Teal Topaz nail lacquer with you. I say I’m sorry because it’s sold out online and it’s a limited edition color…sooooooo…not sure if you’ll be able to find it again.

This is probably one of the prettiest colors to ever touch my nails. When applying it, it goes on amazingly smooth and is a true color.

When I wore it, I got so many compliments on it. I felt super lucky to have gotten my hands on it…no pun intended.

This color is part of the Estee Lauder’s Topaz Collection for Spring 2012 designed by Tom Pecheux, the creative makeup director of Estee Lauder.

What do you think? Is this a good spring color?

Beauty Buzz: L’Oreal Paris EverCreme Hair Care

L’Oreal Paris has done it again…winning me over with the EverCreme hair care collection. This is especially for you ladies out there that are tired of fighting with dry hair. You know who you are.

This collection stands out because it’s a Sulfate-Free Moisture System. If you’re like me, then you probably didn’t know that sulfates are very harsh on your hair and can leave the fibers dry, dull, lifeless, and weak. It’s also free of heavy waxes that can coat your hair and weigh it down. It’s also Paraben-Free (yay!) and 100% Vegan.

I’ve been using the EverCreme Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner for two weeks now. I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to tell a difference in my hair, but I was so wrong. My hair not only feels soft and looks shiny, but it instantly felt lighter. It was a crazy feeling. I never noticed how weighed down my hair felt before.

I’m not a fan of the vanilla, amber, and cedar wood scent, but I’m picky about that. It doesn’t smell bad or anything, I just love hair products that smell clean or fruity. And it doesn’t lather up as much either. Hmmm…maybe that’s what weighs our hair down too? OK…I’m not sure about that, but it’s something to think about.

Despite me being extra picky (LOL), I really like this shampoo and conditioner. It’s caught my attention and if you’re curious, I’d really recommend trying it.

Beauty Buzz: L’Oreal Paris’ Because You’re Worth It

We are in the midst of award season and this nail color is perfect! L’Oreal Paris’ Because You’re Worth  is an amazing gold. It’s part of the new Colour Riche collection and this color is part of the Iconic Muse color story (there are four).

Daring and elegant, the Iconic Muse isn’t afraid of a little risk and loves to make a strong color statement.” -Loreal.com

It’s soft but has a beautiful sheen. People have been complementing me on this color since I applied it. It’s a perfect metallic shade. And it’s long lasting. I’ve had it on now for 4 days and there doesn’t seem to be any wear. Looks like I just polished them yesterday. With all my blogging, that’s a miracle. LOL!

Beauty Buzz: JAFRA Makeup Remover

I’m one of “those” girls that hates to take off their makeup before bed. Yeah…yeah…I know. I especially, dislike trying to remove eye makeup. I can never find a remover that is gentle enough and does its job.

Little did I know, the answer was under my nose the entire time. I was gifted a bottle of JAFRA’s Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips ($12) last year and forgot all about it. I don’t know what I was thinking. Maybe it was hiding from me?

This is one of the best makeup removers I’ve ever tried. It’s so amazingly gentle and it does it’s job. It doesn’t burn or irritate my eyes and has the lightest scent. It’s made with Cucumber Extract, which soothes, and Macadamia Nut oil, which conditions. And it’s not just for your eyes, you can use it on your lips too. I guess I don’t have any more excuses to not remove my makeup.

Beauty Buzz: L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin

Hairstylist from around the world swear by L’Oreal Paris’ Elnett Satin hairspray. I swear I see it in almost every photo from a “behind the scenes” shoot. Well, it’s not a new product by any means. In fact, it’s been around for four decades. But, it’s only been available in the U.S. for a few years.

I was recently gifted a can at a L’Oreal event and I’ve kind of become obsessed with it. It really offers hold, but it doesn’t leave your hair sticky. And it brushes out really easily without leaving any of that white residue that some hairsprays do. Guess that’s where the “satin” comes from.

It’s also supposed to offer protection against humidity, but we don’t have much of this around Los Angeles, so I’m not sure. Some people do complain of the scent, but I actually like it. If you’re one of those, they do offer an unscented formula. Regardless, this is one great product. Looks like I’ve found a hairspray that will continue to stand the test of time.

Elnett Satin is available in four formulas: Strong Hold, Extra Strong Hold, Extra Strong Hold Unscented, and Extra Strong Hold for Color-Treated hair. The last one offers a UV filter to protect your colored hair.

Beauty Buzz: Suave’s Dry Shampoo

This is going to be a short and sweet “Beauty Buzz.” There’s no sugar coating when I’ve found a product I love. I was gifted a small sample can of Suave’s Dry Shampoo at the Two Point Oh L.A. Snowball.

I’ve heard all the stories about dry shampoo and even wrote a small post about a certain brand’s new line. But, this is the first time I’ve actually used it. I was supposed to meet up with two of my girls for dinner, but the boiler in my apartment building broke and we didn’t have hot water. There was no shower in my future. My hair tends to get oily and I thought this would be the best time to use it.

Suave’s Dry Shampoo has mineral clay in it that soaked up the oil in my hair. It smells great and it added lift to my hair. Problem solved! And the best thing about it? It’s only $2.74 at Target! You and your hair can thank me later.

Beauty Buzz: L’Oreal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara

I wrote this post for my other blog, but I wanted to share it with you here. I had an opportunity to try out out L’Oreal Paris’ Voluminous False Fiber Lashes ($8.95) mascara. They want you to “Never Fake It Again.”

According to L’Oreal, “Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara reinvents the false eyelash look, making it possible to achieve the clean impact of professionally-applied false lashes. A combination of super-fine nylon and rayon fibers perfectly adhere to natural lashes, enveloping them from root to tip thanks to an exclusive polymer in the formula. Meanwhile, an architectural precision brush with a 40-degree angle and reverse twist bristles ensure optimal application, making lashes appear fuller, longer, curled and sculpted. No clumps or messy results – just flawless lashes from every angle.”

I started applying the mascara at the base of my lashes, while wiggling the brush up using #275 Black Noir. The sculpting fibers in this mascara immediately adhere to your lashes and it did seem to curl them a little bit.

As you can see in my photos, it did add some volume, but I felt like it came out a little clumpy. Not as full like their ad shows. I did only apply two coats. Maybe with a few more coats it will add some fullness. Although, my eyelashes don’t look like their model’s eyes, I did like how dramatic of a change it made to these thin lashes. It’s very noticeable.

One random thing I noticed…I like the shape of the wand cover. It fits your hand naturally when you’re applying it. Yeah, I said it was random.

Take the pledge to “Never Fake It Again” on Facebook.

Have you tried L’Oreal Paris’ Voluminous False Fiber Lashes mascara??
