My ‘Real’ Red Carpet Tips

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with JCPenney and DiMe Media. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Everyone will have a red carpet moment sometime in their life. This could be any kind of standout life kind of experience. One that will have you shining no matter who you’re with or where you are. And in case you’re wondering, it doesn’t always have to involve an actual red carpet. But having one doesn’t hurt. I’m just saying.

Recently I was in Miami for the annual Hispancize event. Not only was I was one of their official social media ambassadors, but I just so happened to be a Tecla Award nominee for Best Blogger. And yes, there was a red carpet. Now, I will tell you I was secretly hoping I didn’t win. I know…I know. But, I was up against some amazing women who I thought were so deserving. Regardless, I still wanted to attend the awards and it just so happened that JCPenney was on hand to help a few of us get ready for this special night.

After getting all glammed up courtesy of JCPenney, my amiga Denise ( made our way to the historic Olympia Theater in Downtown Miami. It was so much fun and a definite red carpet kind of night! And I’m not talking celebrity with cameras flashing in your face kind either. This was a real moment for the both of us and we took it all in our own way.

Here are three of my REAL tips to keep in mind for your next red carpet moment!!

#1 Bring Your Favorite Amiga Along

I don’t think I would’ve had this much fun if I didn’t have one of my favorite people with me. Denise, who won Best Blogger by the way, is one of the most real and down-to-earth people I know. She really helped get me through this night. And I was so amazingly happy to by her side when she won! Besides, I had someone to tease and joke with through the award show. That truly helps calm my nerves.

#2 Rock Your Personal Style

If you know me, you know that I am all about celebrating your personal style no matter what. This includes hair and makeup. For me, that means comfort first. I found this amazing dress in the JCPenney Boutique+ section that let me be me. I like to think my style is somewhat in the Modern Boho department. I had so many styles to choose from but the look I put together was ultimately my style. And that let’s me celebrate my true self.

What I wore: Boutique + Sleeveless A-Line Dress-Plus, CL by Laundry Jump Womens Heeled Sandals, nicole by Nicole Miller® Crossbody Bag (similar), EL by Erica Lyons Womens Silver Over Brass Collar Necklace, and EL by Erica Lyons Womens Stretch Bracelet.

#3 Enjoy your Red Carpet Moment

I think sometimes, when we’re experiencing a moment like this, we can get caught up in it all. And sometimes we forget to actually enjoy it. If you need to, take a second to step to the side, take a deep breath, grab your friends, and don’t forget to have some genuine fun. Believe me, you don’t want it all to be a blur. I’m glad I was able to have a night I’ll never forget!
