My Body My Story | Lucy Activewear Giveaway (Closed)

This blog post is part of a paid Megan Media and lucy #lucyForEveryBody blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own.

When I was in my early 20’s, I would drag myself to the gym. I never wore anything form fitting and would cringe the minute someone good looking jumped on the treadmill next to me. I was so self-conscious about my appearance and would always beat myself up about gaining weight—which happened a lot.

Today, I’m 39, and I give zero cares about anyone else’s fitness expectations. I am my own person. I do what I want, what makes me feel good (inside and out), and I’m on a journey of self-discovery. In fact, I just discovered I love meditating, and I’m a yoga beginner (again). In the past year-and-a-half, my health has been a major concern of mine, and I’ve made a lot of changes for the better.

My body is different now, too. I may have lost a few pounds, but the actual shape of it is not the same. I’ve heard that happens as you get older. I’m not afraid of this. In fact, I welcome it and am adjusting to it. When I look for activewear, I have a whole different mind set, and I’m more selective. Not only am I looking for quality workout gear that will last, but I need something versatile; one day I’m into yoga, and the next day I’m headed out for a walk. The activewear needs to be crazy comfortable, too.

It’s been hard to find a brand that can check off all or most of those boxes. But recently, I was introduced to lucy Activewear. They launched their Extended Sizes line this year, where you’ll find a high-quality selection of lucy’s best-selling tees, tanks, tunics, leggings, yoga pants and wraps in sizes 1X-3X. I couldn’t wait to try them out!

I was honestly impressed by what I wore. The outfit was perfect for yoga, and I could even wear the top out afterwards…which I did. I slipped off the leggings and threw on my denim jeans after yoga to grab a bite to eat.

What I’m wearing: Yoga Girl Tunic in Black (1X) and Studio Hatha Capri Legging in Fig Mod Print (1X).

We all know that not all women’s bodies are made the same. The lucy Activewear Extended Sizes line was created with the belief that “all women are more alike than different, that confidence has no boundaries, and everybody and every body deserve to feel strong and luxurious when they work out.

I’m a true believer that strong is beautiful, and I can appreciate the work they are doing to create high-performance activewear. I feel like no matter where you are in your health endeavors, discovering what works for you is key to living a confident lifestyle.

I can totally relate to this post in several ways. I, too, used to cringe just thinking about going to the gym and working out beside people with perfect bodies (or what I judged as a perfect body). I’ve always had a weight problem and finally after turning 40, I joined a small gym that focused on good habits, working out, hanging out and loving yourself. They treat me alike family and involve your children in working out with you so you don’t even have to worry about having a sitter. It’s amazing and now I can walk outside with my head held high even if I still don’t fit my own idea of what a perfect body is.

    • That is so awesome! I love it. I think it’s so amazing that you’ve found your space and you’re doing what you want…for you! Thank you for sharing.

      • Alina Conn

Most definitely! Right back at ya 🙂

  • Bobbie Smith

I’ve had a complex about my body. I’m so very self conscious. I love that the company provides clothing sizes for all body types! Look very comfortable too!

  • Courtney Bella

I love lucy activewear (even though I cant really afford it) is that its super comfortable and you can just TELL its expensive by how good the quality is.

  • Pixistyx

I’m getting older (42) and can see my body not bouncing back when I do my usual roller coaster ride on the scale (up and down..10 to 15lbs..ugh!). I have always had a hard time finding cute workout clothes that are good quality, look great on me but don’t cost a mint. I think the tunic and capri outfit you are wearing is so stylish and love the color of the capris!

Going to the gym is still something I am working on because I of not wanting to feel judged, but I am feeling a lot more settled and happy with ME and wanting to make the body I was given as healthy as I can so I go for walks and that makes me feel great. I have tried yoga before (in home) but would love to try a beginner’s class soon.

  • mami2jcn

I love the yoga tunic! It looks really comfy yet chic.

  • Ashley Bree Perez

I can totally relate to this post because I am on a mission to get back into shape and live a healthy lifestyle. It is so easy grabbing fast food to go and being a couch potato but I want to stop those habits and work out and eat healthy.

  • linni h

I used to be “svelte” in my younger days. Now post-babies, post thyroid removal and hormone hell I am far from svelte. I am fortunate that my husband only cares about my health, not my size because no matter how much I exercise, eat right etc the pounds won’t come off. I hate the way some people look at me and have found meditation and yoga the best way to distress and center myself.

  • Fran R.

Lucy has fun clothing that makes me excited to work out, even if it is in the comfort and privacy of my home!

  • Shauntea Crutcher

I have never tried Lucy activewear, but when I shop for activewear it has to be comfortable and versatile.

  • shannon fowler

I love activewear because it always helps me feel good about myself, and it reminds me of my goals. I used to have difficulty wearing anything that didn’t hide my body, but now I have come to love myself, and I think thats really what fitness is about. I love they have clothes that fit all women so they can learn to be confident no matter what size

  • MilaXX

I can totally relate. I look for quality workout gear that I will not be embarrassed to be seen in when I am running errands after.

  • Margaret T Breese

With an injury that hasn’t healed, I put on alot of weight. In my quest to get better and regain strength, it bum’s me out to see so little effort by exercisewear companies to accomodate those of us who don’t fit the “model” sizes. How am I supposed to WANT to get active when there’s nothing that fit’s me NOW????Lucy Activewear gives me hope!!!!!!

    *hugs*

  • msrodeobrat

This post is so true on so many levels! A person’s body is constantly changing, and that is the same for everyone. Your body shape changes over time, no matter how you live your life and that is a hard thing for some people *coughmecough* to deal with. I love that Lucy supports women of all sizes on their active journey

  • Kayley

I love lucy’s activewear because it looks attractive while being functional.

  • Rachel

I can relate to this post in so many ways. My favorite things about lucy Activewear would have to be the range of sizes available and how cute everything is.

  • Rosie

I can relate! I’ve had a health problem that makes it hard for me to be active, by the end of the day I’d get something quick to eat then collapse on the bed. I’ve really turned into a lumpy sack of potatoes and gained weight and gotten weak. A couple weeks ago I started doing a few exercises at home, and I have to say I’m amazed at how much better I feel physically and emotionally. Just a taste can invigorate and instill a motivation that I feel so good – even though I sure look the same, but I haven’t been collapsing for more than a few minutes at night. I would love to have some activewear it would be so nice to look better, too!

  • Kaye Newman

I to believe strong is beautiful. There is nothing more beautiful or sexy then a strong women. Regardless of her size.

  • I’m obsessed with their patterns and cuts and LOVE their size range! xo

  • nickie burke

I like that they have extended sizes, that look great and are comfy

  • Heather D

I find it hard to find cute clothes that fit me in all the right places. I browsed their selection and I love their sizing options.

  • Sandy Klocinski

Lucy is different because of their frequent sales. I have been a longtime customer of Lucy for over 5 years and regularly buy sale and full price items. Clothes quality is solid but wait for their sales, as their regular prices are high.

  • Monique Rizzo

Lucy clothes are so fun!! Love it.

  • Sarah

For me, I prefer to wear form-fitting clothes when working out. It makes me feel strong and capable…and less likely to snag on branches/gym equipment!

  • Dawn Monroe

My body has changed so much since hitting 45. I’ve never been thin but the pounds are showing a lot more. I love yoga pants but my biggest problem is the waist rolling down. I hate it. Its with most of my pants. I don’t know if I’m buying them to big, to small or trying to wear the waist to high or low but its a real problem for me.

  • markathy

Just beginning to exercise again and these are classier than my sweats

  • zoehunter

I have always been in great shape because I was a dancer my whole life. Then , I turned 41 and had a baby. Now, I work out a lot to get my flat tummy back and tone the places that stored fat during pregnancy. I love finding workout clothes to wear that are cute and functional.

  • Laurajj

Oh it really can be hard, but I finally found my place too kick boxing by our home. I love it so much and always get excited to go! I am always a little embarrassed about my workout gear….and would love to win and have something more fashionable to wear when I go! I have had such a hard time finding cute workout clothing to wear~

  • Eve Frieson

I love Lucy activewear, because their comfortable, affortable and fashionable.

  • Stafford Brix

Can relate to this post for sure. I would love to try activewear that would help me feel more modern and pretty both inside and outside. I have a tendency to lose and gain and gain and lose and it’s a vicious cycle. I’m glad to hear that you are very confident! I love supporting companies that think outside of just a size ZERO!

  • Alice c

Love the outfit. It’s so important to feel good about your outfit when you go to the gym.

  • mjmoore

I have three kids and am nearing the big 4-0, so I really relate to the way our bodies change over time. My body no longer acts like it did when I was in my twenties for sure! I have heard great things about Lucy Activewear, but never tried it. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Britnee

I love that their clothing isn’t overly active looking so you can go from gym to grocery store without looking a mess ( or visa versa).

  • Kendra

I love this! Fitness is a journey and we all jump in at different places!

  • amie denning

I love your outfit! It looks so comfortable and stylish!

  • Ghost Fox

At 51 and 3 kids, it’s freeing to accept my body as it is, lumps, bumps, stretch marks and all! Never heard of Lucy Activewear before, but looks cute and comfy!

  • Cute pants! I’m having a hard time adjusting to myself being almost 50, so many body changes.

  • JAIVIANSMOMMY

I can definitely relate to this post. After having my second child at 36, I have found that losing the weight as I get older is a bit of a challenge. In my 20’s I would obsess about working out and staying fit, now I try to incorporate exercise and healthy living into my life as much as I can but it is not my main focus. I want to show my daughter how important it is to have a good self-image even if there are a couple of extra pounds there 🙂

  • tiffany

You look GREAT in that outfit. I have never tried Lucy Activewear but I heard many good things about them.

  • Alison Little

Hey girl! It’s always refreshing to read something I can relate too. I was always fit and active in my teens and first few years of my 20s without hardly trying. As I got older and got some bad habits my weight would fluctuate up and down, but never too much. About two years ago I kicked the bad habits but since then my weight has slowly been going up especially after starting a new medication and it’s really been affecting my self esteem. In August I got a pretty major knee surgery and haven’t been able to walk since, been going to physical therapy daily so hopefully I’ll be able to soon! But because of that I have ballooned up to way bigger than I have ever been and it really gets me down. It’s nice to read about women who love themselves no matter what, because we ARE worth it and I have to remember that. I just hope that when I can walk again I can get the motivation to try and get healthier again with exercise and eating better. I know it’ll take work but we only live once, why waste it!

  • kim niland

I never tried Lucy ActiveWear but it looks really nice and something I could use. Love to be comfy!

  • Tiffanynichole89

I love the lucy activewear because it looks comfy and great looking.

  • chris z

    i can defienetly relate

  • Emily Morelli

This is what I’ve been looking for! I am determined to get more exercise but I’m uncomfortable in much of the active wear that is out there. If I look as good as you in Lucy Activewear, I’d have the confidence to get back out there!

  • Donna

i love lucy activewear because it’s comfortable and makes me look great

  • Amanda lea

My body has changed heading into my 30s I enjoyed the article!

  • Heather Williams

I am so glad to see healthy women working out and staying fit without being a size zero. I have curves. I am healthy. I workout. And just am beautiful. I know all that but it’s nice to see the population acknowledging beauty in more ways than one.

  • Jackie Smith

Love your story and love Lucy Activewear! I am a curvy girl myself and feel good in Lucy. I didn’t start running until I lost my son who was a runner and I was going to run one 5K. . 7 years later I have run more 5ks than I count a bunch of 1/2 marathons and 3 marathons. The challenge is always finding running wear to fit a 5’7″ 200lb body without looking frumpy or like a stuffed sausage. Thank you Lucy for recognizing beauty and strength in every size!

  • disqus_McmMRH559y

I love to feel confident when I work out

  • Amanda Patterson

I am totally in love with those leggings! They are a fun print and color but still wearable and would be good for working out or casual day wear as well!

  • HilLesha

I can totally relate! This is why I love their activewear so much.

  • Lily Wolfe

I love it because cute activewear in large sizes is hard to come by!

  • Jeanne Rousseau

I always so worried about what people thought but now that I’m 40 I look back and think, why did I care? I also find that my body is a different shape and I’ll never see that 18 year old body again, and that’s okay. This activewear looks so amazing!

  • Cindy Aiton

I can totally relate to this post! I was also one of those young women who constantly worried that I wasn’t thin enough, pretty enough, etc., but my attitude has definitely changed now that I’m getting older. 🙂

  • Sarah

    Health begins with the mind.

  • Jenny Scheldberg

I relate to this so much. I love that these styles are still modern but not crazy neon colors that make me feel like a school bus or “old lady” styles like you find in certain stores. All women want to feel beautiful and equal.

  • Marilyn Nawara

This outfit looks great on her — love the leggings.

  • mommyto2girlz

I really like the look of their clothes. I would feel better about working out because I would look good doing it. It’s really hard to find good looking workout clothes for the curvy woman.

  • Jennifer Miller

I live in comfortable clothes and I like to wear stuff I can stretch in.

  • Jennifer Meadows

  • Julie Rod.

i love that i look and feel good when i wear it!

  • USARomeo

Being raised in a family that doesnt believe is viewing anything but that of beauty (or in my case, handsome) it’s a challenge to have a perception different then being “a true believer that strong is beautiful”, and though my family has a extreme low income, I can appreciate the work they are doing to encourage exercise. Throughout my life peers picked on me, I always felt like the one that never belonged but as I grew wiser / older I realized no matter my outside looks, it’s the discoveries that my heart makes to knowing what is right for me. And I began to volunteer / mentor and they actually taught me more about myself since I’ve had the dream of opening a computer school where adults can learn to use them, the internet , write resumes and do repairs.

Though I went to visit the site, I was amazed at the variety, the one that caught my eyes was the Endurance Woven Short

    Color

    – Gray Kaleidoscope Print

  • meghan b

    Love all of the designs!

  • Sean

You look fabulous! I love that the outfit you chose works for you and for yoga. I can see myself wearing that to go out as well and run errands and such. I have curves and have learned over the years to accept and love ’em!

  • renee walters

I have never tried Lucy Activewear. It looks nice and comfy, which is exactly what I look for in activewear!

  • Debra Clifford Gifford

For the first time in my 57 years of life, after being 100-115 all of my life, this past year I am now at almost 140 pounds. I’m from a large family of 8 girls & 1 boy. All but one of my sisters has been overweight most of their adult lives. Some haven’t seen me yet but they always gave me a hard time about being so little. I always felt bad that they had weight issues they they didn’t like. One sister even had a gastric bypass 14 years ago at 350 pounds. She nearly died & was in ICU for 2 months & had to have daily home care for months more. Twelve years later, with many hospital stays, operations, she passed away at 47 years old. She had always wanted to lose her weight & was so happy when she did. But it took her life. Hold your head high, ladies! Being thin like some isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It sure doesn’t make you any less important, just because you may be a few pounds more than the gal you just passed. I think a medication is helping me to be hungry all the time & I had been less active due to chronic pain. I now love loose fitting or at least comfortable clothing. These sound like they would be perfect for comfort.

  • Linda

I love lucy activewear. The comfort and quality is amazing!

  • Courtney Wood

Im in such a weird in between with my body right now. I’ve lost weight then I gained it back and then now im slowly losing it but my clothes still arent fitting right and trying on new clothes is a nightmare. What appeals to me with Lucy Activewear is that they make fits for all body types. They are comfortable but also stylish and pretty.

  • Elizabeth Pelishek

I too would drag myself to the gym, feeling self-conscious that everyone was looking at me in my baggy, over-sized shirts. It was not until I started doing yoga that I gained a greater appreciation for my body and my health. Yoga allows me to be present in myself and to be mindful of my thoughts, feelings and how my body feels. I am also a strong believer that the true essence of beauty is one’s strength!

  • nate

My wife (who is very shy) has used yoga to help with her postpartum depression and to help her tune in to herself and relax. She is struggling with accepting how she looks post baby (I think she is even more beautiful now) because all the exercise and dieting in the world won’t change her new fabulous body.

  • bgsmama

i love working out, but i hate workout clothes. these looks more comfortable than what i have, and more like they’d move with my body.

  • Peg Scott

    You are beautiful girlfriend

  • lshumack

This is great! It’s so tough to find clothes that don’t feel restricting when I’m working out…especially when you go in the middle of the day with a ton of people. Even tho I know nobody else should care and I’m there for me…it still feels off. Zumba is my favorite way to work out and this is the exact outfit I’d be looking for!

  • Rhonda R

I’ve gained a lot of weight in recent years and at 40 years old, I feel more insecure than a teenager. I need to shake that and get out there and work on what I’m not happy with. I love this. Love the knowledge that bodies do not have to fit the ideal image. I do want to work on myself, but because I deserve it. I want to be healthy, not to be beautiful, but because I am beautiful.

This activewear sounds great. No matter what I try, I have a terrible time losing weight and even getting motivated to work out in my big baggy sweats and t shirts. These are very stylish and would be a nice incentive.

It is nice to see how the active wear fits. Thanks for sharing.

I can relate to this post because I too want to take off some weight, the older I get the more I need to keep active. I also think its hard to find work out clothes for someone my size, I love the clothes that Lucy active-ware has, they are cute!

I’ve been many different sizes in my life. I know how hard it is to find good, comfortable clothes that I can work out in!

The older I get, the less I care about what people think of me. I like myself and that’s all that matters. I have to do what is best for me.

I’m still young, but I definitely feel like I’m better at accepting my “shape” – very pear shaped and a flat butt – so if I lose or gain weight, I know I’m never gonna have a cute round butt or suddenly stop carrying weight in my thighs. And this is ok! But we all deserve fitness clothes that make us feel good about ourselves and our wellness.

Great give away! I love my Lucy clothing in the extended sizes. Because they look so great and feminine, I even wear the workout shirts to work on the days I go to the gym. I do spend a lot of time showing my ankles at the gym since off since the extended size pants only come in regular and my legs are long. I love the workout tees in both sleeve lengths and the tranquility wrap. I have a tranquility wrap hanging off the back of my chair at work so I can throw it on when I get cold. My favorite pant is the “Get Going pant”, wrinkles and all. I am still a little too self conscious to wear leggings to the gym.
