Travel Diary | Virginia is for Travel Lovers

I’ll never forget the first time I walked onto an airplane. I was 19-years-old and I was headed off to Texas for Basic Military Training. This is when I learned all about the fine skill of hyperventilating. It was probably, to this day, one of the worst flights of my life. Down to the thunder and lightening storm that followed me all the way to San Antonio. You’d think this would’ve scared me into never flying again…wrong. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve flown and how many more flights are in my future. It’s all because I genuinely love to travel.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being home with my loved ones. And yes, packing and unpacking is annoying. Let’s not get started on how expensive it can be, but I truly feel like my heart and soul needs it more than traveling needs me. Honestly, I can’t imagine not being able to do it. I was recently invited on a media trip to Middleburg, Virginia to test drive the all new 2017 Kia Cadenza. I not only took this as an opportunity to get myself in this beautiful sedan, but also as a way to discover a place I’ve never been before.

We stayed at the beautiful Salamander Resort. Did I mention it was beautiful? It’s only surrounded by colonial estates, equestrian centers, and vineyards. And I’m officially in love with their Spa and Wellness Center. This resort was the setting for an inspiring few days. I wish I had more time to explore the town, but I was there for one thing only…to drive my little heart out. And that’s what I did. All along the Virginia countryside, through the Shenandoah National Park and back.

If you’re wondering, the 2017 Kia Cadenza did it’s job. Keeping us comfortable, safe, and happy. I was really impressed with not only it’s sleek design, but the Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning was super helpful. I’m all about any extra help I can get on the road. You can learn all about the Cadenza and more here. It might be the luxury sedan, at a reasonable price, that you’ve been looking for.

Along the way of winding roads, lunch at a Faithbrooke Barn and Vineyard, and the most scenic horse country I’ve ever seen, I found myself super grateful for the opportunity for travel experiences like this. We had dinner in a horse stable guys…and it was perfect. And who can say they had drinks with George Washington and Thomas Jefferson? I told you it was an experience. Take a look at the photos below!

I’m going to take this trip as a sign that I need to get my butt back out there and do more exploring on my own time. Because, trips that spark interest in a historic town like this are the best kind of trips.
