Curvy Girl Travels Desert Adventure

If there’s one thing I love more than writing, it’s the freedom of being able to travel. Ask my dad and he’ll tell you the story about this little 2-year-old, yelling “let’s dooooh” whenever someone grabbed their keys. He said I was always trying to leave. Which I did a couple of times…but that’s a whole different story. Well, I can say that things haven’t changed much. Whenever I have an opportunity to travel I take it. Remind me to tell you about my first time visiting New York City in only 72 hours.

I’ve learned that traveling is so much more than hotels, planes, and trains. It’a all about the experience and adventure that each place offers you. And it doesn’t matter if the destination is a one hour drive or an eight hour flight. It doesn’t even matter if you’ve been there before or not. I feel like being able to leave the familiar even for a few days, gives me a break from my normal routine. This is what recharges and refreshes my mind. It helps me to view the world in a different way. It’s especially a plus when you can do it with people you love.

It’s exactly what I was able to do on a recent road trip to Las Vegas with my hubby. We hopped into the Kia Sorento and headed out for the weekend to see a concert. Only a four hour drive from Los Angeles, this crossover made the trip feel a lot shorter than that. I need to get myself a Sorento. I keep saying that and will have to make it happen. Kia is not paying me to say this—they are seriously underrated.

After a few pit stops, including an impromptu photo shoot in the desert and an outlet shopping trip, we made it to Sin City. Delicious dinner at Nobu, an amazing concert at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel, and drinks with amazing friends was what I needed to welcome in 2016. Even though I’ve been to Las Vegas more times than I can count, this desert adventure was completely new for me. Yes, I was sick with a sinus infection, but I battled through to make this weekend unlike any other.

Remember when I said it’s all about the experiences you make during your travels, I meant it.  My hope for you is that you take the chance to venture outside of the familiar. Make the most of every place and try to discover something new every time. There is an adventure out there waiting just for you.

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. ―Henry Miller
