My Tips / Dressing for the Holidays

My favorite time of the year is finally here! Yes, I’m that person. I love the holiday season so much and everything that comes along with it. I’m all about the spirit of giving, holiday cheer, and the super festive decorations. And I especially love all of the holiday parties and events I get to go to. I know we can sometimes stress about what we’re going to wear, so I put together five tips for dressing for the holidays.

1. Shop Your Closet First

Before you even think of heading to the mall or shopping online, check out what you have in your closest first. Most of the time the special occasion pieces we have (AKA sparkly and metallic), have only been worn once. Don’t be afraid to rework them into new outfits with different accessories (shoes, jewelry, handbags, etc…). You’ll save money for important stuff…like makeup.

2. Search Pinterest for Holiday Outfit Inspiration

Sometimes I’m all out of ideas when it comes to putting an outfit together. It happens to the best of us. That’s when I head over to Pinterest for a little inspiration. I started a Holiday Inspired Outfits board if you want to follow. There are tons and tons of outfit ideas out there , just type in what you’re looking for and go! Just make sure you allow yourself some Pinterest time…it’s really easy to get sucked into the world of pinning.

3. Do Not Be Afraid to Break the Holiday Fashion Rules

We all know that rules were meant to be broken…especially the plus size “rules.”  This holiday make things super festive and combine sequins with stripes or velvet with bold prints. Don’t be afraid of long sleeve crop tops, winter florals, flowy or form fitting jewel-toned styles. Hey…even rock an ugly Christmas sweater whenever you want.

4. Shine and Sparkle

Please…for the love of all things holiday…do not be afraid to shine and sparkle wherever you go! People might think sequins and glitter are very cliche during this time of the year. Whatever! If you got it flaunt it. And it doesn’t just stop in the clothing or accessories department. Your beauty favorites should also get in on the fun with metallic hues and glitter-infused makeup. There are tons of eyeshadows, nail polishes, and lipsticks out there that will keep you shining and sparkling during the holidays.

5. Wear What You Festively Love

No matter what you decide on wearing for your next holiday party, always wear what you love. Looking for inspiration is what we do, but just allow this to inspire your already fabulous (and fierce) personal style!
