I love to write posts that I hope will inspire and encourage you to love yourself, especially on the outside. Believe me, I know it’s not easy. It’s a journey I’m still working on. And it doesn’t seem to get any easier whenever swimsuit season rolls around. The minute we hear the words “swimsuit shopping” we cringe.
I know. I know. There’s no reason to cringe. It’s just a body and everyone has one. And as much as I want you to be comfortable in your own skin, I know that it takes time and not everyone wants to parade around in a swimsuit alone. That’s where cover-ups come in handy.
And just because you wear a cover-up doesn’t mean you don’t love your body. I think that’s a ridiculous assumption. Yes, they were initially designed to cover-up your swimsuit. But, today they’re more of an accessory. And there are so many options out there to fit your style. From edgy to chic, it’s super easy to find one.
But, if you’re anything like me, sometimes a regular cover-up won’t do. Especially, when you have things to do, places to go, or swim parties to attend. That’s when you head to your closet and get a little creative, like I did with a few of these Ava & Viv styles from Target.
Who doesn’t own a pair of denim shorts or a chambray shirt? This is a casual way to head to and from your latest beach adventure. I love the softness of this Ava & Viv Indigo shirt. So versatile! I paired it with this tropical Ava & Viv swimsuit and Ava & Viv midi denim shorts for an on-the-go look.
Do you have rooftop pool party to get to this summer, but don’t want to arrive in a typical cover-up? Then maybe a maxi dress will work for you. I decided to wear this black Ava & Viv dress, with its slit and crochet touches, over my swimsuit. I even accessorized with this white Panama hat and colorful statement necklace from Target to dress it up.
