Face Forward with e.l.f. Cosmetics

When it comes to drugstore makeup brands, some of you might be a little hesitant about using them. I may have been one of those people when it came to e.l.f. Cosmetics (eyes lips face). I thought—”It’s so inexpensive, it must not work.” In case you’re wondering, sometimes I love being wrong. I took a chance and grabbed the e.l.f. Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer and e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation. Here’s what I thought about them.

ELF

e.l.f. Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer is said to “combat against excess oil, flaky dryness, enlarged pores and fine lines. This clear multipurpose skin primer will prepare your skin so makeup goes on evenly for a long lasting satin finish.”

They weren’t lying about the satin finish. I felt it the minute I applied it on my face. There is a slight scent to it, but nothing too overpowering. You should know that a little goes a long way. This is good, considering there is only .49oz of product. I let the primer set a few minutes before applying the foundation.

Next, I used e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation in Sand. It claims to be “lightweight and oil-free formula blends in naturally for a beautiful semi-matte finish. This liquid foundation applies easily and lasts all day for visibly brighter and radiant looking skin.”

As you’ll see below (excuse the lighting), this shade might be a little too light for me. But it’s wearable. Also, this isn’t a full coverage foundation. It’s more like a medium coverage, which I’m OK with for day to day use. I think I could’ve layered on more for full coverage, but I didn’t want to apply too much.

And yes, it’s true that you get a semi-matte finish. All without it making your skin look dry, which is always a concern for me with matte foundations. There wasn’t a dramatic change when it came to filling in my fine lines, but I did notice that my skin looked a little more radiant.

After wearing both for an entire day, my skin was not nearly as oily as it normally is. Something I dealt with (hated about) my previous foundation. I didn’t have to blot all day and that makes me happy! It’s always the little things, isn’t it? The primer and foundation was light enough, that I felt like my skin could breathe. Which makes it an ideal spring combo.  These two e.l.f. products are a definite addition to my makeup collection.

Are you an e.l.f. fan? What should I try next?
