Are you a fan of Shea Moisture? I know there are a lot of you out there who are! I’ve heard the buzz about this brand, but I’ve never tried it. Just so you know, if you aren’t interested in soft and vibrant hair, you might as well just stop reading this post right now. I was sent a few pieces from the Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System to try out. And I can say I’m impressed with how great it works…I can’t stop touching my hair.
The Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System with Marula Oil & Biotin is available in hair and skin products. I only tried out the hair products—shampoo, conditioner, hair masque, and hair & scalp serum.
The Superfruit Complex consists of raspberry ketone, goji, acai and guava. And is said to help in these 10 areas—age-defy, color protect, hydrate, nourish, soften, anti-stress, deep condition, revive body, strengthen, and shine.
I should note that the Shea Moisture brand does not contain parabens, phthalates, paraffin, formaldehyde, propylene glycol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic color, DEA, petroleum, and is not tested on animals.
Just so you know, my hair is naturally wavy, with some thickness. It’s not too coarse and has a few split ends. I used the hair & scalp serum, shampoo, and conditioner first. I applied the hair & scalp serum to my scalp, concentrated on the ends, and left on for one hour before washing (as directed). I expected the serum to be oily, but it wasn’t. It was lightweight and has an almost rose scent to it.
The shampoo and conditioner have a heavier floral/fruity scent and a lighter consistency—it’s not thick as I thought it would be. I wish the shampoo lathered up more, but that OK that it didn’t. I could instantly feel the softness in my hair just by rinsing out the products in the shower. The after-scent is a little strong for me, but it’s bearable.
The hair masque is thick and does wonders on softening and moisturizing as well. I used it before showering. Applying it to my hair, covering with a shower cap, and leaving on for 15 minutes. It can be left on longer, up to 30 minutes with moderate heat, if you’d like. Then I shampooed as usual. I’m going to only use this once a week, since my hair doesn’t require that much moisture.
Like I said before, I was really impressed with how soft and moisturized my hair felt after. This may be a little too moisturizing for those with fine hair, based on some of the online reviews I read. I think this line would be great for moderate to dry hair. If you’re looking for it online, it’s only available on SheaMoisture.com or Ulta.
