Fight the Frizz in 5 Simple Steps / Video

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Alberto VO5®.

Oh frizzy hair…what did I ever do to deserve you? It’s not that I don’t love your natural quirkiness, but sometimes a girl wants sleek and shiny hair. It’s true…I do! That’s why I was so quick to partner with legendary hair care brand Alberto VO5®. They have a five step system that is not only super easy to follow, but is also very affordable. This sounds like music to my ears, my wallet, and my hair! Besides, August is “National Anti-Frizz Month,” we have to commemorate it somehow!

curves-and-chaos-frizzy-hairIn the video below, you’re going to see what my natural hair (in all it’s glory), without product, and a tiny bit of humidity looks like. Needless to say, it’s pretty interesting and very normal. I’m OK with that. But, like I said before, sometimes I want to tame the frizz. I know I’m not alone either. Us frizzy haired chicas have to stick together and share the knowledge!

Alberto VO5® conducted a nationwide poll and found out that almost 60% of those surveyed said frizz is their number one dreaded hair malfunction! And that 92% of women use products to manage their frizz, most often with shampoo/conditioner and/or an anti-frizz cream. Does this sound all too familiar?

First things first, we need to understand where frizzy hair comes from and how to tame it. According to Alberto VO5®, the water found in humid air actually modifies the hair’s structural protein, causing each hair’s cuticle to let loose and literally spring out of control. Are you picturing it? Because, I am.

VO5-Hot-Oil-TherapySo, like you…I was super curious to know what the big secret to fighting frizz was. It’s all about starting early with a pre-treatment like VO5 Hot Oil Therapy Treatment. I remember my mom using these hot oil treatments when I was growing up. I don’t know why I never tried them! Turns out, the hair is enriched with good oils that smooth hair cuticles and help prevent frizz from taking hold in the first place. The secret is out now!

I think what I loved more than anything, was how easy it was to incorporate the treatment into my routine. Not only that, but it smelled great, was lightweight, and only takes 1 minute of your shower time.

Before you run to the store and grab your Hot Oil Therapy Treatment, you’re going to need a few more products to complete the five-step process (watch the video below):

  • Step 1 – Pre-Shampoo Treatment. Try VO5 Hot Oil Therapy Treatment to to moisturize and condition hair from roots to ends, restore shine, strengthen, add softness while smoothing hair cuticles and helping prevent frizz.
  • Steps 2 & 3 – Shampoo and Condition. Try  VO5 Salon Series Smooth + Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner to manage unruly hair and help eliminate frizz.
  • Step 4 – Styling Prep. Try VO5 Salon Series Anti-Frizz & Shine Styling Cream to prep hair for the rigors of styling by nourishing hair, reducing frizz and boosting shine.
  • Step 5 – Style. Try VO5 Perfect Hold Non-Aerosol Hairspray to help fortify your hair with a healthy shine.

I have VINTAGE Vo5 tubes laying around and always wonder if they’re still good to use! LOL. I used to swear by them when I was a teenager. I cut my frizz in half when I chopped off my hair! 🙂
