How to Stay Cool and Refreshed This Summer

I’ll be the first person to admit I’m not a fan of the intense heat. But, I do love summer in Los Angeles, it’s not too unbearable (like other cities). Now, if it could stay 75 degrees the entire season—I’d be a happy Angeleno (we know it won’t). And since it seems like I’m always on-the-go lately, I have to make sure this chick stays cool and refreshed while I hit the streets. That means a bag of necessities and these summer tips (courtesy of Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee) that will beat the heat.

Be Prepared

#1 rule is to always be prepared! I have a backpack that I take with me when I’m on-the-go. It carries all of the essentials like sunglasses, sunscreen, tech accessories, and more. Read the rest of my tips below!

Stop Melting Makeup

There’s nothing worse than feeling like your makeup is melting off of your face. You can either wear none at all, go light and only apply a BB or CC Cream, or you can add a primer under it all. I use COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation that stays on great in the heat. Especially, when I brush on Urban Decay’s Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder after. Also, I throw a light powder, mascara, and my favorite lipstick in my bag for any touchups.

Dress Accordingly

Stay cool and refreshed this summer in style. Don’t be afraid to bare some skin either. Rock denim shorts, flowy skirts, shorter dresses, rompers, tanks, or whatever summer trends you’re loving. Also, make sure you are wearing cool fabrics like cotton, silk, jersey, linen, rayon, and chambray to name a few. You might want to bring along a light scarf and a pair of flip flops in your bag, just in case.

Staying Fresh

Even though I wear an awesome deodorant (that really never needs reapplying), I always carry it with me on extra hot days. For emergencies, because you never know what life will throw at you. And it doubles as a solution to any thigh rubbing AKA chafing. I also make sure to apply cornstarch  baby powder the minute I step out of the shower, to help fight sweat.

Drink Up!

I recommend drinking lots of water, especially when it’s hot out. Carry a refillable water bottle with you (this will help save you money too). It will help keep you cool all summer. And when you’re looking for that quick refreshing afternoon pick-me-up grab an iced coffee…or you can just throw a chilled Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee in your bag—just add ice!
