A Shopper’s Dream! OCRF Super Saturday Los Angeles
Imagine a world where your favorite designer brands are on sale for up to 75% off, free food and drinks, a cool place to lounge, celebrities, and every single dollar goes to a worthy cause. It’s not an imaginary place, I’m describing the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) Super Saturday Los Angeles (AKA Designer Garage Sale) event that I was lucky enough to be invited to. Located at the famous Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, I was in shopping heaven!
The OCRF is the largest and oldest charity funding research on ovarian cancer in the United States. Their Super Saturday, a day-long fundraising event for the entire family, is in its 17th year in New York. It was founded in 1998 by fashion designer Donna Karan, and late OCRF President and Editor-In-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, Liz Tilberis. This was the first annual launch in Los Angeles and was hosted by Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman, and Molly Sims and Scott Stuber.
I invited my fellow blogger friend Andriana of La Moda by Andriana to join me! With our VIP wristband’s (thanks OCRF), we were granted earlier access and made our way to the Dream Dry booth for a quick braid (see it here). We snacked on some goodies, before heading into the hangar where all the shopping was to be done. After a gourmet lunch and we headed back out for more shopping.
I was really excited to see brands like Rachel Pally, JCPenney, Johnny Was, Cosabella, Schutz Shoes, Kenneth Cole, The Honest Company, Ann Taylor, BBDakota, Trina Turk, and more on hand to support this cause. Check them all out here. I did a little damage spending only 1/3 of what I’d normally spend in the stores. And I felt amazingly great knowing that every penny I spent went to the OCRF. An example of the amazing deals? Two Rachel Pally dresses for only $90!
There were even celebrity sightings. I spotted not only Rachel Zoe, but I also shopped next to Christina Milian, Denise Richards, Molly Sims, Giuliana Rancic, Liev Schrieber, Lacey Chabert, and Steven R. McQueen to name a few. Super Saturday Los Angeles was a pretty amazing event and I can’t wait to see what they have in store next year.
On the East Coast? No worries! Join Super Saturday New York on July 26, 2014. And follow the #ocrfsupersaturday hash tag for all things social media.
